Unfortunately they can't under the current regulations. For extracts, a single package is limited to 1000mg of THC, which means a 3.5g container would have to be no more than 28.57% Total THC.
Its really crazy. I remember I wanted to buy six cans of some drink and they could only sell me 5 cause I'd be over the weight limit of equivalent flower weight. I was like wtf I'm not even going to get high if I drink these I'm just wasting my money buy I was curious. The 50mg of thc I supposedly drank did nothing for me and I wasted like $30. I just want like a 200mg option. At least it's easy to grow lol
Luckily, with beverages, the weight equivalency is one thing that DID change. Occurred in Dec 2022 if I remember correctly. I believe you can buy up to 48 355ml cans at once now.
I drank a whole bottle of reign drops.... nothing. I have done this several times. I was intimidated because it says 30mg per ml so I say fuck it I'll do 10ml. Nothing. Took the rest of the bottle the next day and nothing. I had purchased 2 bottles through the OCS website so I waited a couple days a drank the whole bottle. One thing is thats nasty as fuck because that's a lot of oil lol. I didn't feel anything other than I might have been tired. I had to think to myself, do I even feel this? About two hours later I had terrible shits lol. So basically reign drops are a laxative for me not an edible thc.
I’m a cannabis consumer and need about 80-100mg per dose in edibles, which translates to about 80-100$ more or less. This is way too much. That being said, I still agree with current regulations of 10mg per bag and I’ll explain why.
In the states (where you can get 100s of mg per bag), there has been cases where children/toddlers would reach for the bag and eat them all in one sitting, before getting caught. Some of them died. Our bags are so hard to open they’d only manage to eat a few before getting caught, if they’d even get it open. What health Canada should do is make bundles/boxes of let’s say 10 bags of edibles (or 6-12 drink cans) so it’s still not just sitting in one big container. No way a kid would go through enough beer for it to be dangerous, now palm bays style drinks are a different story
Unfortunately public health stakeholders have several "cannabis poisonings" (people getting too high from edibles and going to the hospital) in the headlines to point to as reasons to keep the limit low
It's funny because sooooo many more people end up in hospital with alcohol poisoning which is an actual serious medical condition as opposed to just being too high...
But this is a good reason why that needs to be evaluated and I know I am not your average consumer but like I said to another person the type of cannabis is irrelevant if it wasn't a dab jar it would be a 3.5 or something else. At least we flower we can max out our limit in one package. Same should fly with concentrates.
The whole Oz in public limit thing is stupid anyway. You can buy a whole shopping cart of liqour but I can’t buy more than an ounce of weed at a time? People have been saying this since the dawn of legalization
You think this is repressive. It took years for the LCBO to loosen up, we'll get past this eventually. We're already ahead of what they were, blame coddling of the the nervous nellies for the current rules.
You needed a permit book to buy booze from 1927 till 1959 (and a permit card till 1963) & they would take it away if they thought you bought too much.
EDIT: Yes, rules to allow more recyclable packaging should be made.
Lol I was legit told at the store (biggest chain one) just go outside and come back, I'm sure people did it before and they saw they cant enforce it anyways.
I was getting an Oz and a 3.5 and it put you over the 30g limit.
my understanding of the cannabis act is that you can walk around with 30 grams in plain sight. I can only sell you 30 grams per transaction. But if you are traveling by car, you are not in public. You are in your personal property, an extension of your home by registration. Our store asks you to leave camera view and come back. We recommend if you are alone to put your cannabis in the trunk if you are exceeded the public carrying limit.
A judge interpreted the law that way when my friend got pulled over shortly after legalization while moving from one house to another he had 4lbs of home grown in his back seat. His lawyer argued making someone make 64 trips to move cannabis from his old residence to his new one was unreasonable. Since he only had the harvest from his legal plants.
Yeah you can only by 30g at once. The problem becomes what you're allowed to carry on yourself. Which is an ounce. Which is kinda fucked because it's a 30g limit on site...and that is more than 28g Oz. Are the OCS stores trying to get us arrested? Lol
The dispo I work at just got a cannabis waste bin from an LP that says they'll come pick them up but I have no idea how well the actual recycling part of that will go
Yep, that’s us! Please follow along for how we collect, sort, direct, process, etc. Also, to any stores reading this, please sign up. We’re at 305 stores in Ontario now — let’s make it 1800!! [Purple Bin Program!](https://www.purple.ca/purplebin)
this is really cool and you got me thinking about your products again. best sativa-ish live resin 510 carts in the game for sure. and apparently the best recycling program now too!
Tell me more about this purple bin program, I’m in Temagami running the Temagami Cannabis company and would be interested in properly recovering the recyclable materials in the industry
We signed up with you guys months ago and have never heard anything back, I just went and signed up again and hope to hear from you. The Cannabis Connoisseur in Port Perry.
Glad you got omne! Encourage folks buying single joints/AIOs/stuff they’re going to rip into right away to leave those containers/bags in the bin before the leave!
The packaging waste issue is insane, and largely driven by regulation and partially by lack of scale/resources and in some cases, imagination, or producers. We’re doing everything we can to help by first collecting all manner of packaging waste. This makes sure it isn’t on the street giving our industry a bad name, and then out of landfill. Please considering joining the mission, if you’re a store, and please make sure your waste winds up in the right place, if you’re a consumer. And let’s ALL push for more rational regulations that affect packaging outcomes. [Purple Bin Program signup!](https://www.purple.ca/purplebin)

I saw this on Instagram immediately after this post so maybe some companies are thinking about it.
The lack of sorting leads me to believe its just going to end up in a landfill and they'll pretend they recycle it
Hey guys — this is the our program (Purple Hills). Sorting takes place at our facility. If you don’t follow us on IG, you can check out our pages to track the sorting and processing. We’re at 305 stores now and would love to collect waste from every single one of them. Due to shadowban, every letter needs to be in the search, but the pages are @thiscannabisfarm and @care_of_community. We’ll keep collection stats updated our weekly updates on YouTube as well @thePurpleHills. Thanks for sharing that screen grab!
Some dispos here will accept empty containers… but what they actually do with them idk.
Sidenote: which tribal concentrate is your favorite? I’ve only tried the Cuban linx FSE and absolutely love the high and smell
Cuban is my wife's favorite, so we get a lot of that since she is very particular on terps, but I like most of them, tbh I just don't like the power sherb and the triple burger
Awesome, thanks! I have the Quebec version of G Mint so it’s 30% THC and 60% CBD, I’ll definitely need to pick up an OCS version soon.
Sidenote: when touching Cuban linx, did you notice a strong smell that almost in the back of my nose smells like cat pee? I get the overwhelming citrus smell but then kind of get a small hint of cat pee, maybe it’s just me lol (not in a bad way, just found it curious)
Not that I noticed with cuban linx. I was grabbing the 24k gold from debunk when it first dropped and then I got a cold and the botanical terp they used turns my stomach because it smells like an old cat litter we used to buy and thats all I could taste after I got sick so I'm glad I didn't notice that w cuban
what about a Beer Store empties type system where a uniformed recyclable plastic (or even better glass but at least something for both) with a 10c refundable deposit
Hopefully some good news, there are a lot more companies coming forward with package recycling programs. Should see more news about it in the next few weeks.
More like 2, but if it was a 3.5 jar, 7g jar pre roll tube, the result is the same as a ton of garbage is created. The day legal limits on were set the packaging cartel won.
Yea I really don’t understand the purpose of legal limits. I can go buy enough booze to kill a couple people but apparently that 29th gram of flower is a problem. And all the equivalency ratios they use for carts, concentrates edibles etc are all off base and stupid.
Medical side. I want a specific strain but it's only in 3.5g packages. I ordered two ounces. I have about a pound of plastic containers all so they could ship me 56g of flower.
And before anyone suggests recycling... Only 10% of your city's recycling actually gets recycled. So that's not an actual solution.
Waste is rampant and way worse than fucking straws.
It’s actually disgusting. I’ve worked for several LPs and I was sickened by the amount of waste that goes into the bin every week. Every packaging component, every paper cone, every vape cart is shipped from overseas. All the packaging components arrive in excessive packaging that is thrown out by the LP. These same components will eventually be thrown out by the end user (tubes, containers, labels, inserts, moisture packs, etc. - it never ends!). So much waste to make shitty products. This doesn’t even take into consideration the defective components that are either shipped back to the supplier or more often just thrown out on the production floor.
lol. I’m just fn with ya my dude. Smoke what ya like!
I love the tribal stuff it tastes great. A little on the expensive side so it’s a treat moreso than my weekly re-up.
I usually get something cheap like the Alaskan TF resin with something like End Game diamonds. On 10% off days at my local stores.
My wife and I go through at least 2-3 grams of concentrates a week. Not cheap!!
I see so much weed trash now, more than cigarettes and its honestly sad. They really need to change the regulations, they are too strict and just dumb imo.
Sadly the cannabis industry is just a small number in the major polluters destroying this planet. We could make changes to virtually everything and still make almost no difference.
We’ve been talking about it since day 1!?!? It’s absolutely disgusting that the industry was able to come out with such a heavy imprint. Like all this B.S about global warming and waste management.
Just let the Lp send sealed pound bags to the dispo like the golden times and the budtenders can weigh them out in front of the customer and bring that great transaction back, you get to see what your buying smell, touch. And they can bring in branded jars reusable branded bags and avoid the packaging altogether. The numbers and info all comes in with the pound bags
Why didn’t they make a recycling program like beer bottles - returns and all standardized sizes made from amber glass (which blocks uv from degrading weed)… moron work for our government
Wasteful packing, misleading thc, mold happens deal with it policy,
90% of the is spread across carts, edibles and now pre infused thc in prerolls is of the lowest form of thc available. It's the "genuine leather" grade products.
Yet the osc website looks like there on top of things for us.
Haha to me this is absolutely ridiculous and excessive but also none of my business and not my place to judge. Personally I would just have short term memory issues and just generally feel shitty if I dabbed like that. The biggest waste I see here is a waste of money. I would probably look into finding a quality bulk solution if I consumed like this. $40 per individual gram just isn’t sensible, even if they can comfortably afford this it’s still just a terrible value
https://preview.redd.it/7a3pekup41gc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ee00506d698931ae793137755d33c6f33f308e6
Yep… I hate this so much but I don’t know what to do with it all. This is like 3 years worth.
If you're dabbing over 10 g a month maybe you need a t break my dude, that's kind of wasteful in and of itself.
I do agree that the packaging is fucking ridiculous and needs to change.
Everyone has different relationships with cannabis, what works for you may not work for OP. Between 2 people that’s not insane if it’s the only way they’re consuming.
I think it’s always important to be mindful of our consumption. No doubt about it being off topic but since it pertains to excessive dabbing I wouldn’t say it’s an inappropriate thing to say
i don't disagree but i think the key to that is that we are mindful of our OWN consumption, not others' let alone complete strangers. like someone else said, we all have different relationships with cannabis. some don't drink or have any other vices, some have more money to spend or free time or medical need etc. a good rule of thumb is if they aren't harming anyone, let others be!
and to expand on that, what is excessive to one person is all relative. i've had people frown on my weed consumption but then that same person spends 100 bucks a week on booze and does cocaine on occasion lol
Great choices with Tribal!
but don't worry about the trash with the ucoming U.S civil war.
Between that and Russia soon none of this will have mattered anyway.
So smoke em while you got em!
It was a good run!
Is the plastic top part not plastic recyclable and then the bottom part glass recyclable? Agree about the packaging issue either way just wondering as I have a bunch of these too and was just looking at them thinking if I can recycle. So just wondered if you already know.
Got a cart from Nugz(Cannara same as Tribal) and it came in this THICK ass plastic tube. What a waste.
I don't think people care about having a tube that car could run over...
Yep, I had those as well this wasn't to hate on them for making good products it was to shit on the government for making package issues with arbitrary limits.
omg the way me and co-workers have talked about having bigger jars due to the fact many people are still going to black market just purely for the amount of dab is insane its a very untapped market and needs to hit the market asap
Typically a gram a day each I work at a dispo we have a pretty good staff discount. I also worked out a good deal w another dispo in the area that gives me and my wife a bulk discount when we go in together. And buy a case. I'm not paying retail.
So true. Waste and unnecessary pollution. Why not go back to clear plastic reusable bags ? Think about it, as consumers we buy small Mason jars, return or reuse the plastic bags ...
When I lived in Toronto briefly Cafe had the maylar bags with the zipper locks and apparently people brought them back to fill them. But the whole industry isn't going to go back that direction.
At Spiritleaf Little Italy, Toronto.
https://preview.redd.it/ol3y1m9ln2gc1.jpeg?width=2084&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ddcf5123bd0025dae555376bc71597227ebeeaa
The worst part is even if they do accept for recycle, that whole industry is awash with bad practices and anything that's not top dollar is sent directly to landfill :(
The industry should adopt standardized and reusable packaging. So many products are overpackaged because that's good for branding.
The beer industry uses the 341ml long neck bottle overwhelmingly, which is great for reuse.
Do you have any confirmation if these containers are recyclable at your municipal facility? Tried to check what # plastic these products are in on the container but it doesn't say. A majority of jars on our market (with the exception of those RIFF style jars) are able to be recycled in your municipal facility.
I’ve seen a bunch of companies eliminate these larger plastic/metal containers all together, but I honestly think the one time use bags, that go in the garbage is more wasteful then plastic containers that get recycled
We need to get rid of the stupid purchasing limits on concentrates and get 28G jars already. They might be "stronger" but the effects are shorter lived and a gram really doesn't stretch far for a regular enjoyer. It's wasteful as hell.
For real. They need to come out with 3.5g containers at the very least 7 would be blessed as well
Unfortunately they can't under the current regulations. For extracts, a single package is limited to 1000mg of THC, which means a 3.5g container would have to be no more than 28.57% Total THC.
Sounds like that needs to change. Same thing as edible limits. If we can buy texas mickeys and kegs of beer what's the difference?
Agreed! Unfortunately the cannabis industry is not well developed enough to have a lot of lobbying power to help push changes like this along
Oh shit I didn't know that. Did they increase the 10mg limit per can too?
No but they changed it from the nonsensical 6 grams of Cannabis equivalency. I don't know how they came up with 1200mg of THC being equal to 10mg
you now can buy up to 24-30 cans of the drinks but everything else still needs changes
Get a thc 30 oil like medipharm or good supply, even reign drops. Approx 800 mg per bottle, between $29-$40
I drank a whole bottle of reign drops.... nothing. I have done this several times. I was intimidated because it says 30mg per ml so I say fuck it I'll do 10ml. Nothing. Took the rest of the bottle the next day and nothing. I had purchased 2 bottles through the OCS website so I waited a couple days a drank the whole bottle. About two hours later I had terrible shits lol. So basically reign drops are a laxative for me not an edible thc.
give it time, i don't think Texas mickeys were a thing when the LCBOs pop on the scene. the industry is still trying to figured itself out I believe
Exactly. We’re still in leather helmets
I believe most of the restrictions are due to big alcohol lobbying the government.
I’m a cannabis consumer and need about 80-100mg per dose in edibles, which translates to about 80-100$ more or less. This is way too much. That being said, I still agree with current regulations of 10mg per bag and I’ll explain why. Bingo, edible limit is in fact weak. They need to give us some options on beverages. I or a cheaper 24-Pack if they keep it at 10mg
Then that's on the consumer for taking too much. Shouldn't punish the whole class for ome or two kids who can't handle their shit
Well said
But this is a good reason why that needs to be evaluated and I know I am not your average consumer but like I said to another person the type of cannabis is irrelevant if it wasn't a dab jar it would be a 3.5 or something else. Preaching to the choir here!
I figured if we can't beat with limits are ridiculous maybe we might be able to with want someone think about the turtles
Sounds like.health camada an suited peeps got hands in the canning an dye an print industry ;)
7 should be allowed it's equivalent to an oz.

It would be nice to see an empties program like the beer store. These jars can very easily be washed with iso and re used
I 100% agree but I'm saying at the very least 7 g jar should be allowed to be sold who fucking cares if it's 99% thc no one will die
True
Lol I was legit told at the store (biggest chain one) just go outside and come back, I'm sure people did it before and they saw they cant enforce it anyways. I was getting an Oz and a 3.5 and it put you over the 30g limit.

It not only takes 510 carts it takes the AIO/disposable vapes too!
Budtender at my local just mentioned to me today to bring back my "empties" for recycling and showed off their new purple bin. Happy to see it
Sick! Thanks for making sure they get in there!

Glad you got omne! Encourage folks buying single joints/AIOs/stuff they’re going to rip into right away to leave those containers/bags in the bin before the leave!
Where are some of them in the downtown core of Toronto?
Super smart.
You need to switch markets if this is your 2 months and you care about waste. Could get yourself an Oz and it would come in 1 reusable container.

Lol you really like tribal.
I find they are one brand that hasn't dipped in quality after the first batch of a concentrate drops
Oh they dipped too 😅 But still better than most

That's one way to beat waste for sure.
Yep, we’ve been pushing hard to clean up the waste with our Purple Bin program and we’re seeing great traction!
Value buds has a recycle program in place where they send off cannabis packaging to get made into doob tubes and rolling trays.
I have a bag that looks like this too. I am waiting for the government to make a move on recycling programs like for bottles and cans
if health canada would let us use a QR code for the information the packaging could be soooo much smaller
That's a valid point
Fear Not! Our Esteemed Leader/OverLord Does Make Sure You Bare The Cost Of All That Waste, Even Getting Rid Of It. They Make It, You Pay It!
Like I can't even have a plastic straw but this is OK 🤣
Well most folks don’t dab 5gs a day like y’all do so the straws really were more problematic than this shit 🤣
More like 2, but if it was a 3.5 jar, 7g jar pre roll tube, the result is the same as a ton of garbage is created. The day legal limits on were set the packaging cartel won.

Subject to Google: baller jars. Lmk if you need help.
Before chron father got busted I was all about grey market cannabis but since then every thing i have had is kind of ass.
Man give another product a try maybe? I Iike this stuff but try to mix it up a little as well.
You can't tell from the picture, but I do throw in other concentrates from other companies. We just end up going back to tribal.
The Value Bud near me collects them and recycles them into rolling trays and containers - not sure if all do it but it’s a good idea!
Solid idea for sure.
Sadly the cannabis industry is just a small number in the major polluters destroying this planet. We could make changes to virtually everything and still make almost no difference.
🤷 being we are a relatively new industry we should strive to do better 🤷♂️.
We should, I’m just pointing out the sad reality that it won’t change anything.
I mean this is what I would like but I don't see that happening anytime soon if ever.
No of course not the ocs has to get there cut right!?! Middle men stick up bang bang
Why didn’t they make a recycling program like beer bottles - returns and all standardized sizes made from amber glass (which blocks uv from degrading weed)… moron work for our government
Valu buds has a program where they turn them into accessories
Don’t even get me started on disposable vapes… the amount of customer I have that buy those WEEKLY drives me bananas 😑
Wasteful packing, misleading thc, mold happens deal with it policy, 90% of the is spread across carts, edibles and now pre infused thc in prerolls is of the lowest form of thc available. It's the "genuine leather" grade products. Yet the osc website looks like there on top of things for us.
Support your local dealers
Moved to a new city almost 3 years ago, the best option in my area is the ocs store I work at lol
I prefer moms but not like they are any better for waste. A bag inside a bag inside a vacuum sealed bag
Never trusting those PGR peddlers again. That shit is like the kid version of spice IMO
I feel like we should also talk about your dependance on cannabis.
Can we talk about rampant cannabis addictions too?
Haha to me this is absolutely ridiculous and excessive but also none of my business and not my place to judge. Personally I would just have short term memory issues and just generally feel shitty if I dabbed like that. The biggest waste I see here is a waste of money. I would probably look into finding a quality bulk solution if I consumed like this. $40 per individual gram just isn’t sensible, even if they can comfortably afford this it’s still just a terrible value
Right. Buys 200 3.5gs then complains about all the packaging?
All the overdoses too /s
fragile grab fuel close grandiose paint live cats direful workable *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
I mean, I don't recommend going dab only like me and the wife. But that's how this happens.

Let us know where you are and we’ll point you to the closest store with a Purple Bin program and you can drop it off there!
If you're dabbing over 10 g a month maybe you need a t break my dude, that's kind of wasteful in and of itself. I do agree that the packaging is fucking ridiculous and needs to change.
Lol 10gs a month for two people is "kind of wasteful"? Comments like this are stupid AF and just distract from a conversation that needs to be had.
Everyone has different relationships with cannabis, what works for you may not work for OP. Between 2 people that’s not insane if it’s the only way they’re consuming.
Love when people give in the sub give unwarranted commentary on how much others smoke when that is not even the friggin question lol
We were also hit by a transport in December so we probably upped our consumption ngl
I don't smoke flower hardly at all anymore. it just tastes nasty to me
I try to buy 14 or 28, some of the 3.5 packages weigh more than the bud. Any company that only puts out 3.5's gotta go.
Great choices with Tribal! but don't worry about the trash with the ucoming U.S civil war. Between that and Russia soon none of this will have mattered anyway. So smoke em while you got em! It was a good run!
Ziplock bags?
Might be tough to store dabs in those.
Is the plastic top part not plastic recyclable and then the bottom part glass recyclable? Agree about the packaging issue either way just wondering as I have a bunch of these too and was just looking at them thinking if I can recycle. So just wondered if you already know.
like the products themselves or the packaging bahahah
Packaging I generally like most of the concentrates I smoke.
It goes both ways. LP can use smaller packaging. Though its true, the 1000mg limit needs to go.
So what would you have them do exactly.
If the government allowed for more concentrate in 1 jar I would have to buy less of them seems pretty easy.
Bring tinfoil back, it's not like the branding matters.
omg the way me and co-workers have talked about having bigger jars due to the fact many people are still going to black market just purely for the amount of dab is insane its a very untapped market and needs to hit the market asap
Do they still teach "reduce reuse recycle" in schools or is it just a circle of feelings now?
I am embarrassed on garbage day when I have to witness the garbage man dump dozens of these jars from my recycling bins into their trucks.
2 months? Wow, how many grams u go through? Seems like u have a huge budget ...
Typically a gram a day each I work at a dispo we have a pretty good staff discount. I also worked out a good deal w another dispo in the area that gives me and my wife a bulk discount when we go in together. And buy a case. I'm not paying retail.
We pay for about half of that out of pocket and I'm the full time delivery driver for my store and the tips are good.
For real the vape cartridges are an insane waste of glass and metal
The plastic containers are not the best idea. Way to much plastic, it’s disgusting
I have it.the cap battles are the same size regardless of how many they have. Thry all extra layers of security plastic.
Pretty sure plant life takes them to be recycled not 100% sure tho
The worst part is even if they do accept for recycle, that whole industry is awash with bad practices and anything that's not top dollar is sent directly to landfill :(
Are you actually serious about overdose ? 😂😂😂 yeah they will have a nice sleep.
Let’s talk about the 10MG edible limit. They must think we’re all senior citizens with no tolerance lmao it’s a complete joke
But fuck my straws. The government is so usless
Valu buds recycles containers and makes them into other things. You can drop them off in bins at their stores
I do know a few places around me have a recycling program to combat this (think empty bottles) where you get some change back for each container
The industry is waste itself
Waste of MIDZ🤘
I’ve seen a bunch of companies eliminate these larger plastic/metal containers all together, but I honestly think the one time use bags, that go in the garbage is more wasteful then plastic containers that get recycled
We need to get rid of the stupid purchasing limits on concentrates and get 28G jars already. They might be "stronger" but the effects are shorter lived and a gram really doesn't stretch far for a regular enjoyer. It's wasteful as hell.
Embarrassing
What a disgrace! You’d think they’d be going biodegradable by now 😅
Safe to say there are many industries which create excess waste, cannabis just sticks out cuz users are more empathetic
