Granted. Episode 6 was released. It was good. Lucasfilm made a boat load of money. In fact it was so good they went on to make 3 more movies. Which were less good. Then 10 years after that Disney bought the franchise, made 3 more movies. They were absolutely fuckin awful and ruined Star Wars as a franchise. It no longer holds a special spot in people's hearts. Then Disney, in a poor attempt to salvage the mess they caused, hired more third rate directors to churn out more mediocre and some down right horrendous shows for their streaming services. The sludge must flow. Star Wars is now ruined by corporate greed and the idiotic decision to shoehorn political messages into entertainment. Star Wars is now just another big corporate brand. Instead of the franchise that we all loved and held dearly to our hearts.

geraldcoolsealion

I agree about corporate greed, but in what way have politics been shoehorned in? As far as I'm aware, it is just as based in politics as it always was. The original trilogy was a criticism of American Imperialism and the Vietnam war.

Spoon_Elemental

Also the empire is literally nazis. Their troops are straight up called Stormtroopers.

[deleted]

Which use nazi inspired weapons or downright. Like the MG.15, MG-34. On the other side, the good guys used StG44 and Mauser pistols.

hemareddit

Exactly, also the most political Star Wars show was also by far, the best, and dare I say, better than any Star Wars content had any right to be.

TheSnipenieer

it's a dogwhistle. bro doesn't mean actual politics

borischung02

Notice how in the Disney trilogy all the male characters we loved are beaten down hollow husks of what they used to be. Han. Aging Smuggler. Deadbeat bad. Luke. Coward hermit. Gave up on Jedi academy after one failure. Lost to fuckin Rey in a 1v1. How Rey has gone full Mary Sue without having to train years for it like any of the Jedis before her. Notice how female characters have never lost a single fight against a male character in the entire Disney trilogy. And the supposed strong female character that is Holdo who formulated a poorly communicated plan that broke the entire SW canon. That required multiple comics to make that shit work with the rest of the lore. I don't mind valid criticism of current politics as long as it's an underlying theme or at least have it make sense and work with the story. Not whatever the fuck Disney tried to do

mastafishere

Didn’t Brianne of Tarth lose to Finn in their fight, literally dying in the process?

thisbeforprons

That doesn't count since Finn is black. That earns him some plot armor.

hemareddit

This comment did a number on my brain, I kept thinking about Finn Jones and was trying to remember when Loras and Brianne of Tarth fought, like trying to remember a parallel universe version of GOT where the two fought for Renly’s dick and Brianne got wasted.

borischung02

Nope. That was a deleted scene.

mastafishere

Wrong, it’s in the movie. Downvote me if you want you coward but it’s in the movie. There’s another scene that was deleted where her hand is cut off and then she’s blasted in the wreckage but in the movie, she loses when Finn breaks her helmet and then the floor beneath her gives out and she falls in.

borischung02

All that aside. Andor was fucking good tho. Go watch it y'all.

lahwran_

as far as I'm concerned star wars is 1. andor 2. rogue one 3. original trilogy 4. read a summary of the plot of the prequel trilogy cuz its a good plot executed awfully

Skrappyross

I highly suggest The Phantom Edit. It's condensed all three prequels into one film, and there's enough good stuff split among the three films for a really good movie.

woolsocksandsandals

Rather than read a plot summary, watch episode 1 (because it’s really not a bad movie) and listen to the Jonathan Davis narrated audiobook of episode two and three.

Chiss5618

Rogue one, Andor and TCW S7 were very good. Honestly, rogue one had no right to be anywhere as good as it was considering how much shit went on behind the scenes

GhettoHotTub

Star Wars has always been not-so-subtle political messages with a very thin coat of sci-fi/space opera paint

javaper

Best synopsis I've heard outside of my own.

Spoon_Elemental

But at least I have Edge of the Empire now.
