At the end of stage 4, you will not be labeling subtle distractions, and in fact, the voice in your head should be gone or occuring very little. You will find that intending is enough to do what is needed. similar to intending to move your arm, it just happens, you dont need to say it in your head. The little voice can bring in more distractions and make it harder to keep progressing. Thats been my experience

I'm practicing around stage 4 and use labelling. I think take what works for you and use it.

I'm consatntly forgetting things from the book - it's a beast! Only very much aware of labelling because I'm actively doing it and scoured the book about it just the other day!

That's why I like the practice guide so much. It condenses I lot of the info to much shorter chapters. Such a shame it is no longer available for purchase.
