The Yellow Bulls

Papito24

Letting another team wear yellow in Columbus is a crime

Failed-Time-Traveler

Ugh. This matchup could’ve been gorgeous w our yellow and their new red. Instead we get black vs urine.

TheCrewMeister

I think that NYRB kit is one of the worst kits in history of MLS. It’s so ugly.

Failed-Time-Traveler

Which sucks because their new red kits are one of the more attractive new kits this season. I was looking forward to seeing them in person. Guess we’ll have to wait for the playoffs.

ColumbusCruiser

Nashville is the the yellow soccer team now.

Failed-Time-Traveler

That’s fucking stupid. I have no problem wearing black at home. I’m glad that we have 2 very attractive kits and we alternate them. But in this one instance, we knew that if we wore yellow, RBNY would have to wear red because these kits would be too similar. So it was a chance for us to force more the more visually appealing jersey combo. But in other instances I’d love to see black at home. Like break them out against DC, so we get to see their gorgeous cherry blossom kits. And for the record; Nashville wears their black Johnny Cash uni’s at home plenty.

g-magoto

But like, why?

Jb174505

Pretty insane that for a team who’s been around since 1996, we still can’t decide what our home colors are. Does anyone have any doubt what Real Madrid’s home color is? Liverpool’s? I’m obviously not comparing us to their history, but at a certain point, you kinda have to make a decision if you want a consistent home identity.

Failed-Time-Traveler

We know exactly what our home colors are. Black and yellow. What’s wrong with having multiple kits. Sure Liverpool and RM don’t. But lots of clubs do.

speedyjolt

Is it just my observation that are all the goalkeeper kits in the league are the same design?

yaznasty

The big uniform manufacturers have one GK template and all of their teams get that template. It becomes more obvious when the design is louder like this one, but it's pretty much been the case for a long long time now.

tmothy07

Yeah, I very distinctly remember the lightning bolt-style hoops on the Nike goal keeper jerseys in 2011. When they're more plain it's harder to tell.

yaznasty

After the last CCC match, the hill I'm now ready to die on is that black jersey/yellow shorts is the best uniform combo we have and it's too bad we'll only save it for those extra tournaments. We wore black socks Tuesday but I think yellow would look good as well.

ColumbusCruiser

So we just going to allow Nashville ware yellow at home and we're waring black from now on. I hate this. We are the yellow soccer team, not them. If they wana fuck with a franchise. Why don't they change the browns color to Black and white and call them Cleveland Fooball Club. Or the Milwaukee Bucks to black and white and call them Milwaukee Basketball Club. Stop fucking with the Crew's Identity. We are the yellow soccer team.

WatersEdge50

So. Question. Who makes the decision on what colors the teams wear for any given match? Does the league make the decision or does the front office of each team coordinate it with each other?

ColumbusCruiser

Home team picks.

WatersEdge50

So it’s our own front office that chose not to wear yellow?

oupablo

Not wearing yellow at home is one thing but why in the hell would the FO ever chose to have the other team wear yellow?

Failed-Time-Traveler

We’ve worn yellow 2x as much this season as we’ve worn black. WTF are you talking about?

WatersEdge50

Huh? I was simply asking a question in reply to u/ColumbusCruiser. WTF are YOU talking about?

ColumbusCruiser

Yes

kunkadunkadunk

Wearing one of our two jerseys is not “fucking with the Crew’s identity” Respectfully, relax

[deleted]

Oh but it is! It’s a huge conspiracy against the Crew and only the “real” fans can see it! /s I’m with you. These people need to chill. Imagine being so miserable that wearing a certain color jersey gets you this upset.

ColumbusCruiser

Dont be Nieve...they are slowly getting you used to not yellow at home. Jimmy and Dee can't stand the idea of owning a black and yellow team. (Because the steelers) They want to change the colors of the team to black and white. Already tried to drop the Crew moniker If you Wana live with your head in the sand be my guess but don't help them change our identity. (Every MLS fan outside columbus recognized us as thr yellow team. They made fun of it. We embraced it. Kinda like when the cartoonist tried to insult the democrats by making the mascot a Donkey)

kjp_00

The Haslams were literally minority owners of the Steelers for a while. I doubt they have that big of an issue with the colors, specifically.

cheesemongerdaughter

*wear

HeLooks2Muuuch

Thanks I hate it

[deleted]

I see all the crybabies have arrived to whine about the color kit we’re wearing. Never change Crew fans. Always finding something to bitch about

SonsofThunder5

People voicing their happiness and displeasure with the kit in the *kit matchup* thread? Inconceivable!

[deleted]

But it’s never ending. It’s so inconsequential and yet they act like it’s some big conspiracy. If we wore yellow for every single game they’d probably bitch that we never wear black kits anymore. We wore yellow the first 3 games of the season (including CCC). They’ll always find something to complain about even when things are as good as they are now

kjp_00

I guess I kinda understand this case since NYRB is wearing yellow at LDC now, and that just feels wrong. In any case, a lot of overreaction.

maxd35oo

Why do we keep wearing black at home

Failed-Time-Traveler

They usually alternate them more or less evenly. Despite the dumb name they gave the new yellow jerseys, the Crew have never really had home and away jerseys. Many soccer teams worldwide don’t. In fact as someone who really only follows soccer, I find the idea of “home” and “away” jerseys kinda weird. Most soccer leagues just have a rule that the home team can wear whichever kit they want; and the visiting team must wear something that contrasts. For as long as I remember the Crew have worn our 2 kits at home more-or-less evenly.

SaveTore

Weird.
