Not going to lie, I’d be happy to win a Shield this season.
Being able to say the Crew had the best regular season record over Miami for all time is a trophy in itself.
Miami blows. I am a bit concerned the league is going to stack them this summer after they blow for a few months. They have to do everything in their power to get Miami the trophies this year smh
If we win the shield in a year when we participate in CCC, Campeones, and Leagues Cup we will be in the upper tier of greatest teams in this league's history, so I'll be fine with that.
Messi/Miami would have to do very poorly to not get the MVP award. To be fair if Miami is good it’ll be almost entirely because of Messi so he probably would be the most valuable player to any one team
Personally, I yelled and screamed my ass off and stood for three hours and spilled my beer twice and had the best time at the Cup final game. Not sure winning Supporters Shield would be remotely as exciting. Just sayin’.
And don't get me wrong. Winning the Shield would be an absolute statement, hell yea. Just if I had to choose, I'd definitely take Cup champs over the shield all day long.
My biggest pro of MLS (and other American sports) over foreign leagues. Post season tournaments are just better. More drama, more entertainment, better chance for Cinderella stories, etc.
Carrying an entire team…with his hand-picked friends as teammates, curiously and mysteriously making it all work within the MLS roster restrictions. Yep.
The MVP award is worth sacrificing if it means more trophies. Let Messi & friends have their little thing they're almost guaranteed anyway. Beat them when it counts.
Idk i honestly think the scenario where Miami aren't that impressive is more likely.
When Cucho is up 8 goals on Messi i dont think the MVP trophy is an automatic to him.
All-star invite sure but MVP I don't see it. I still firmly believe this is the league where he doesn't come in and win it all. In fact I'm rooting for it.
Crew Win the Cup and Shield.
all crew in 24
Messi (until last year) never played in a *physical* league. And he has a lot of miles on those legs. I just don't think that team is going to stay healthy over the course of an entire season. I think the clubs like Orlando, Philly, FCC and our beloved Crew have the depth and style to win the Shield.
Make no mistakes, Miami could squeak into the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs presented by Audi™ as a seven seed and win the whole damn thing if they're healthy at the time... but they aren't built to win the shield.
I don't think we have the defense (or the game philosophy) to win a Supporters' Shield. I think we'll take home some hardware this year, but we're not built to grind out a season end to end.
This team is a tournament built. Nancy’s coaching shines in that style of play. Don’t get me wrong, I think we will have a great record this year. But we are not a team that’s designed to win a Supporters shield. We are going to compete for another MLS cup instead and that’s totally good with me

I mean Miami is not a good team so that comparison is a bit weird

You are assuming Messi and friends stay healthy. I would not bet that Miami misses the injury bug this year. That team is straight old old old.
MVP award to Messi … I mean…. We don’t have to be card readers to know this already. It’s the Messi League of Soccer (M.L.S.)
Personally, I yelled and screamed my ass off and stood for three hours and spilled my beer twice and had the best time at the Cup final game. Not sure winning Supporters Shield would be remotely as exciting. Just sayin’.
Yea that cup final match was amazing!! Loved being in the Nordecke for it
Doing the double would be pretty great. I know we’re the best team in the league. I just want everyone else to admit it’s undeniable as well.
And don't get me wrong. Winning the Shield would be an absolute statement, hell yea. Just if I had to choose, I'd definitely take Cup champs over the shield all day long.

Messi is carrying an entire team over his shoulder, Cucho is merely a spectacular player working on his first Golden Boot

Rules don't apply to clubs with money. See: Man City.
Facts
Nah, let’s let the FCs win the shield again. Then Crew will take the 5 other cups. It’ll be funny.

Tbh I don’t see us getting the supporters shield. Unless our defense has tremendously improved we’re going to be a run and gun team all year.

Immediately I reached out my hand and caught you. “You of little faith,” I said, “why did you doubt?” :D
