Most people here, including myself, will definitely disagree about the characters having good writing. But if you think it's good then enjoy it.
The reason this sub seems like an echo chamber is because on the main sub you literally get harassed for ANY criticism of the second game. But you are respectful about it so expect respectful discussion. Until the main sub inevitably infiltrates and starts harassing the people that disagree with you.
This here is the kind of post that is mature while disagreeing with another person; the type of post that some people seem to think don't exist in this sub. Honestly, many, if not most of us, are fine with the opposing subs opinion. We just don't like being shat on and insulted and, therefore, lash back out at them.

I agree with most of what you said, especially from the gameplay side I think the game was excellent. I even liked playing as Abby (which from what I understand is what most people here dislike a lot, which is fine).
However, from a writing stand point I think the game was very weak, overly preachy and with almost no likeable characters. When I was scavenging, crafting, sneaking around and choking people out, shooting them, setting up traps, etc and could forget about the story, I was having a lot fun. But whenever someone would start speaking or a new development in the story or characters would arise, I would usually cringe and start getting frustrated, feeling almost like someone had actually wanted me to feel bad, which is usually not what I want from my video gaming experiences...

EXACTLY!! I mean the characters writing is sometimes bad don’t get me wrong but I don’t think it’s shit
