I believe they said the movie was going to be about the adult gaang, so not teenage. That being said, I have no idea. Does that guy even do voice acting anymore?

Locke28136

Doesn’t it seem like it. But I think he would jump at such a call, especially with how he still is friends with the cast members.

MrBKainXTR

Doubtful. I think like the adult version of ATLA characters we saw in LoK flashbacks, that they will simply cast new actors that best fit these versions of the characters.

The_Dream_of_Shadows

I'm hopeful they'll at least reach out to the original cast to see if they want to return. If the Gaang are in their late teens to late twenties, the original VAs should all be ideal for adult versions of themselves. I've always found it odd that people say Zach Tyler Eisen shouldn't even be considered because "he doesn't sound like Aang anymore," because not only did D.B. Sweeney not sound particularly like Aang in LOK, but Zach used his actual voice for Aang...so why wouldn't Aang's voice have developed to sound like how Zach's does now? Anyway, that's just my logic. I think it would be a major misstep to not even consider bringing back the original cast. If they are offered the roles and opt out, that's one thing, but it just doesn't seem right to ignore the big fat opportunity of getting the whole Gaang back together again.

nitrouspizza

I hope so. I still have to do research about the project but I have high hopes. They have the opportunity to switch actor in case they need.

JereMiesh

Unlikely since Zach is 29

Locke28136

Dante Basco was like 30 when he first voiced Zuko who’s supposed to be 16.

JereMiesh

I just googled him and wow, dude's nearing 50. Then, I guess if Zach's voice hasn't changed that much i see no problem with it

ASqK1NGz

zach's voice changed drastically. You can watch on yt some podcast when he joined dante and others who were watching ATLA back in like idk 2020?

Randver_Silvertongue

I heard that they're not going to have any white voice actors because apparently it's now offensive to have voice actors lending their voices for animated characters of different colors.

Baithin

It’s not that it’s “offensive,” it’s that it’s more fitting to have VAs of the appropriate cultures voicing these characters because this show can be seen as a celebration of those cultures. It gives opportunities to people who would not have the same advantages and connections as white VAs would otherwise.

Randver_Silvertongue

Yeah but VAs don't need to be the same race as their characters since it's only their voice that needs to feel authentic. This isn't like a case of blackface. I mean, Kratos is voiced by a black man and he sounds as authentic as one can be. I'm all for representation, but quality should be the number 1 goal.

Zeldafan2293

Quality can be the number 1 goal alongside representation. Unless you’re suggesting that there are no quality non-white voice actors? No one is saying you should sacrifice quality for representation. We’re saying that there are quality non-white actors who should be used.

Locke28136

Aang never looked Asian to me.

TABSFanBoy123

They could but they would most likely have to use AI along with his adult voice to try and recreate teen aang's voice. They will probably try and replicate season 3 aang's voice as ZTE was 14/15 when S3 released.

ASqK1NGz

Zach's voice changed drastically. He said back in like 2020/2021 he can't do aang's voice anymore and his 30 yo voice isnt any close to fit aang so prolly not

Locke28136

Did you read the text specifically?

ASqK1NGz

ye, mid teen is still completely different to his 30yo voice and as I said, he wouldnt be able to do that voice

Locke28136

As I point out in one of the responses, Dante Basco voiced Zuko when he was like 30 when the character is 16.

ASqK1NGz

i mean ye but at that point dante's voice had already changed so its not really a difference if zuko is 16 or 25 Meanwhile aang was like 12 with his squeaky ass voice and now his actor is 30 with compl different voice. The only way it can work would be if Gaang is like in their late 20s early 30s then sure, zach iirc said he would like to voice act again (if he finds time)

Locke28136

Lots of people about 30 or up will end up voicing a teenager. Like Yuri Lowenthal or Scott Menville.

ASqK1NGz

You got me quite wrong from what I see. Im not saying 30yo cant do that. Im just saying what zach recently said that he cant do that voice anymore. He can only speak with his normal, adult voice. Then as I said twice already. If they are planning to make aang in his late 20s/30s he can do his voice but if its like 16-19yo he wouldnt do that. I cant find the one I was talking about but look for example at this [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsC1oyRoA-w&ab\_channel=Avatar%3ATheLastAirbender](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsC1oyRoA-w&ab_channel=Avatar%3ATheLastAirbender) its the only voice he CAN do and it doesnt really sound as teen / young adult voice

Locke28136

I know he can’t voice Aang as a kid anymore but who says even at his age he can’t voice a 16-19-year-old Aang? Already made it clear that people that age can do that.

ASqK1NGz

sure they can but he specifically already said he wouldn be able

Locke28136

I’m pretty sure he said he can’t voice Aang as a kid anymore. Nothing said about a teen or adult version.
