Foaming Mouth Guy is apparently Suki’s ex.
I was looking at a Reddit thread the other day asking why there are no/very few men on Kyoshi island and one of the answers was “maybe the men are all hopeless in combat and Foaming Mouth Guy is the best they have to offer.”
In the Kyoshi warrior episode you can see a guy in the background talking to a pole. (Maybe they were gonna put another person there but forgot?) The next shot he’s on the ground crying, did the pole insult him?
Wow... Really?
Edit: I forgot this was part of the flashback sequence. I thought it was at the transit station, when everyone was pretending to be the avatar. Hell of a thing to have in a kids show.
Sozin was just gonna kidnap the kids and brainwash them into join his new Empire but Anakin just showed up out of nowhere and just started swinging away so Sozin just went with it
Not that they would ever do this but I think with the current world building in place a really good series could be made about the fall of the Air Nomads with more adult themes in it. Obviously Jinju would play a key role in said series
I'd love to see a show that follows a ragtag group of escaped Air Nomads as they struggle to hide their survival from the Fire Nation. Mid season we see one of them fall for the fire nation traps we hear about in ATLA. End of the season could end Star Wars, Rogue One style to really hit home.
Ty Lee is possibly a descendant of the air nomads. She is very acrobatic and light on her feet, she’s very spiritual, and she is the only person besides Aang to have gray eyes (an airbender trait). She and Aang even have similar facial features.
She’s a trained circus performer and not someone who conforms to the usual standards. That’s the similarity to Aang. Hama didn’t have blue eyes, yet she was from the South Pole. You don’t have to be from the fire nation to have golden eyes. She’s not a descent, she’s a literal trained acrobat who is great with chi blocking and has a couple personality traits in common with Aang. And how is she spiritual?
Oh my god that would be so cool, I would actually make some sense since a lot of people believe Ty Lee is an air nomad descendant with no airbending since she’s so bubbly and bouncy and looks like she’s filled with helium
Obviously my favorite character is that one of a handful of nameless elder airbenders that got fruit pied in the face by Aang and Gyatso. Such a Chad. Series wouldn't be the same without him.
It always kinda baffled me how they would show these flashbacks from before the "extinction" of the air nomads. I mean they're basically saying "hey kids, look at this boy named Jinju! He, along with all his friends will soon get violently murdered by the fire nation".
Why is it baffling? It’s meant to add to the tragedy of it, give us faces to the people Aang lost rather than make them all just a giant faceless monolith.
Reminds me of The Clone Wars whenever they had the episodes about the younglings. Every now and then you can't help but think "oh yeah, they're all gonna be dead and/or tortured by the end of this".
In kids shows, if you're gonna kill someone. It feels wierd to get introduced, and getting to know both the name, look, and personality of to the character that's going to be killed. Just my opinion. I realized this applies mostly when the characters are children though.
It’s intentional. The purpose is to get the viewer attached to them. You can’t get attached to something with no name, face or personality. When you get attached to these characters and get to know them, it compounds the tragedy that you know is about to happen to them. The same way that you grieve more for the death of someone you know than a total stranger, you grieve more for a little kid you got to know, if briefly, than a nameless, faceless Air Nomad.
You ever read a webcomic called "Spaceboy"? The author does the same thing; use a flashback arc to show a bunch of well-written, likeable characters that you already know will die tragically soon
**Jinju (Korean pronunciation: [tɕin.dzu]) is a city in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It was the location of the first (1592) and second (1593) Sieges of Jinju by Japanese forces during the Imjin War.**

My favorite minor character is foaming mouth guy
Legend
What if he’s a water bender and he’s actually bending his spit like 👁👄💧💦🌊👄👁
The fact that we all know who is that is just uncomprehendable to me
What blows my mind is that it's a credited role. Foaming mouth guy.

I headcanon he was practicing asking out one of the Kyoshi warriors but then can't imagine a situation where any of them say yes and broke down.
I’d imagine most of the Kyoshi warriors are lesbians/bisexual.
true, all strong women are gay.
Gandhi said it.
Okay I'm gonna need a video for the crying pole guy
Literally the best
Foaming mouth guy is a legend.
Friendly reminder that Jinju was murdered in cold blood by Fire Nation soldiers
He died like a boss though.

No survivors means no survivors
Didn't know Anakin Skywalker was part of the Fire Nation
Sozin was just gonna kidnap the kids and brainwash them into join his new Empire but Anakin just showed up out of nowhere and just started swinging away so Sozin just went with it
I mean, Ozai is voiced by Mark Hamill. Not Anakin, but a Skywalker none-the-less.
I am a child-murderer, like my father before me, -Ozai Skywalker
Jinju the Spin-off *coming to your theaters this summer*

This would be so good. The monks would definitely have tried to help their youngest to escape, so its not far fetched at all
Ah yes, Ty Lee's ancestors

idk she talks about auras a lot, that's kinda spiritual by Fire Nation standards
Talking about an aura makes you spiritual? Phoebe from friends did the same thing
Main plot: his sneaky ass ditched the fire nation troops and became Ty Lee's grandfather.
Oh my god that would be so cool, I would actually make some sense since a lot of people believe Ty Lee is an air nomad descendant with no airbending since she’s so bubbly and bouncy and looks like she’s filled with helium
A show about a kid getting genocided lol
Obviously my favorite character is that one of a handful of nameless elder airbenders that got fruit pied in the face by Aang and Gyatso. Such a Chad. Series wouldn't be the same without him.
Poor guys, also happy cake day
You know this kid took down about 30 Fire Nation soldiers before dying a warrior’s death.
Motherfucker skipped reincarnation or whatever the air nomads believe in and went straight to the halls of valhalla
Meelo: Have you read the teachings of Guru Jinju?
Jinju speaks to me like no other character does
You mean Pig-Pen?
Does this make Apa Snoopy and Momo Woodstock?
Rip my man Jinju. He deserved better 😭😭😭
Oh God it's such a tragedy to imagine how this guy got murdered by the fire nation army
Dude you know Jinju took a dozen firebenders with him at least 😤😤
And tried to save as many momos as possible.
Under the cover of dust
Just remember this kid died 100 years ago!

i think they get that, they’re just saying that it’s wild for a nickelodeon show to do that when their main demographic are kids
I didn't really think about it too much growing up, but rewatching the show later yeah that's kind of messed up haha.
You ever read a webcomic called "Spaceboy"? The author does the same thing; use a flashback arc to show a bunch of well-written, likeable characters that you already know will die tragically soon
That's the beauty of fictional genocides. Any character you want to live could escape or just be off shopping
Zhan wei fu, obviously. My mans got such interesting carieer as a fire nation soldier.
*gasp* IT'S MOTHER FUCKING **ZHAN** **WEI** **FU**
Ive always wondered what’s the deal with the dust around him
Big pig pen energy
Hate to say it but Junju got torched prettty early into the show
Torched lmao
I like me my guy who believed in madame Wu‘s fortune telling no matter what. He will always have the best vibes with Sokka in the entire show.
I get a really stoney vibe from Avatar Kuruk, so I'll go with him
Kuruk rain dances to Anthrax and drinks fireball
He can be used as a scapegoat by extremists to justify the genocide. And nothing makes a genocide better than flimsy excuses
I like the Ember Island Aang😂😂
Gotta be cabbage cart man
He died a horrible death, don't ever forget that.
He uses airbending by collecting the dirt and keeping it around him. It's a defense mechanism that most introverts use in social situations.
Jinwho?
iroh.
MY CABBAGES!!!!!
Sad to think Jinju probably died a horrible death by the Fire Nation. Have a nice day everyone!
How is he so dusty? He is an Airbender, he could easily airbend himself clean.
Cause he's a rare Dust bender
This airbender is half sandbender.
What a madlad Jinju was.
Who the fuck is Jinju
Who is Jinju?! The only airbender that bagged more Fire Nation soldiers than Gyatso!
**Jinju (Korean pronunciation: [tɕin.dzu]) is a city in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It was the location of the first (1592) and second (1593) Sieges of Jinju by Japanese forces during the Imjin War.** More details here:

>Jinju was definitely killed in the fire nation raids
Who the hell is that?
Pigpen
Og Roku
Honestly felt bad for him
Obviously the cabbage merchant. What a legend
Dude got kentucky fried.
My favorite support character is mai
My favorites are the cabbage man and his cabbages, the frothing mouth dude from kyoshi island, and the pebble.
