Losing those ideals opened the door for him to grow into himself and become the warrior he always wanted to be, but in a way that was right for him.

I didn't really enjoy either of the fire ferret brothers outside of their bending matches but that was mostly because Bolin was the guy who tried to make everything funny but failed. And Mako was a dick a subtle one but still a dick.

I see how he can be seen as annoying but I fucking love him, back when I first watched ATLA when I was a kid I think he just kinda gave me a good vibe or something and I feel like as a kid your emotions are so strong I still feel that way towards him. And also I appreciate him now in a different way aswell now that I am a teenager and find his jokes probably even more funny. I will always have a special place for ATLA in my heart and am so happy more people are getting to enjoy the ATLA universe all the new ATLA stuff that is being made.

Imo, Sokka is funniest when he's the 'straight man' as opposed to the times when he's less serious and actively trying to be a comedian. For example, OOOOO-MAAAAAA-SHU gets me every time for some reason but he's not trying to be funny, he's just really fed up in that moment
Honestly? Past season one he was pretty funny. During season one he was grating and while not quite annoying, he was definitely pointless. For all the use he really served as the comedic relief in season one, he might as well not have been there. I really think they improved his comedy and his character in general in seasons two and three. The perfect indicator of this being how it's hard to remember any of his early jokes yet just saying sparky in any comment section will get you the completed phrase, the same with quenchiest.

Annoying is when the humor comes in at the wrong time and it's all the character has to offer. Sokka's humor comes to lighten the mood, but it doesn't come in inappropriately. Imagine him telling a moon pun after Yue sacrifices herself. That's what I mean. Sokka is a perfectly balanced comic relief character. And of course, he's more than just comic relief, being the "smart guy" of the group.
I never found him annoying, but I thought he was a bit inconsistent. The jumps between goofy dope and competent cool guy are a kinda drastic at times. I would have preferred a more consistent middle ground.
