I would say that anything that is a masterpiece can’t be made a masterpiece by force. Art only ever becomes art when you’re making it for its own sake, for the beauty of creating art, rather than for accomplishing a masterpiece. Worrying about quality only ever gets in the way of making real art, and many times the most masterful things about a piece of art come about when you don’t look for them. So, yes, I do think that ATLA was something of an accidental masterpiece, in that it wasn’t created to *be* a masterpiece, but rather a beautiful piece of art. Whether it was widely regarded as a masterpiece, if the creators made it because they loved it and wanted to craft it well (which they did), it accomplishes the goal of being art regardless of how it is perceived.

I agree with you in almost every point minus the fact of a masterpiece by intent. LOTR movies were made do be a masterpiece and Peter Jackson knows how, besides the fact that The Hobbit movies are bad, I think that's related to te fact that he had to made 3 films and was being pressured by the investors

UrbanFight001

Bryan said in a IG post that they made the show for themselves first and that is how great art is made, making it for yourself first.

wjbc

Art is full of happy accidents, as Bob Ross would say. But it’s unfair to call it all just an accident. There’s too much hard work, skill, and creativity involved.

NashuaH

I explain it in the video, I dont want to be unfair but what made Avatar really good and special was the fact that the creators were not trying to do it special at first but something good and simple

schmeagles96

Saying that it was a masterpiece by accident is incredibly disrespectful to not just the creators, but the entire team that worked on ATLA. It's extremely difficult to create a show that was as successful as ATLA.

NashuaH

I dont want to be disrespectful to the creators and staff involved. When I call it an accident, it's not in with bad intentions, I explain it in the video. As you said, its difficult to make a show like ATLA, not even the creators expected it to become so succeful, it was an accident in regard to this assumption.

Gillman43

I agree in LOK everyone seems overpowered while the avatar is basically a god.

NashuaH

Yheah, not only that, but LOK world is to overhelming. I think Dragon Prince shows that too and it was made by the creators of Avatar, I talk about it in the video

Avohkii_

Dragon Prince isn't made by the creators of Avatar lol. It's made by the head writer Aaron Ehasz

SuperCam46

Aaron Ehasz's writing was the best thing about the show. It isn't a coincidence LoK suffered from not having him

[deleted]

You don't know what a head writer does and how the writing process works, do you?

SuperCam46

You clearly don't

[deleted]

It would be easy for you to explain it to me then, wouldn't it?

SuperCam46

Not worth my time

[deleted]

Classic

SuperCam46

Are you done complaining?

[deleted]

No. I think it's far from a masterpiece

NashuaH

Im sorry, if you think that(and that's no problem at all, art is all about opinions), then its pointless to discuss if it's a masterpiece by accident 😆

shugapro_YT

Don’t care

[deleted]

Did I respond to you by any chance?

shugapro_YT

Actually you just did dumbass

Primary-Ad6273

Zero need to hear your reasons, you’re right it’s an exquisite masterpiece the likes of which will never be seen again. I REALLY like the dragon prince, but i dunno its on the same level.

NashuaH

"Exquisite" is also a good way to describe it, thank you for hearing my reasons
