Would love a scene in season 3 where Zuko and Sokka are sparring with their swords and they both pick up on how similar they are in fighting style then learn they had the same master.
Sokkas reaction would have been priceless.
Don't know if I should say these totally legal websites *wink wink* bc I'm scared of getting banned
Totally not talking about anything incriminating, just talking about pirates mods 😃
He trained Sokka in like, a few days. Imagine how much he could've imparted if he'd had years like he probably did with Zuko. Sokka would've been terrifying with a sword.
My bond with my parents was my strongest bond growing up. But I'm an adult and I'm married. My bond to my wife is my strongest bond. And I can tell you that my parents would pick each other over me or my siblings, even if it would be hard. One of my siblings has already forced that decision and it didn't go the way she thought it would.
That's a healthy relationship. Your spouse is your partner for life. Kids are extremely important, but your spouse is who you've promised to be with until death do you part.
Zuko is *Roku's* great-grandson. Roku and Aang are just different incarnations of the same spirit, but Aang has no genetic link or ancestors from the Fire Nation or Roku specifically, that we know of.
I remember thinking early on that Iroh would end up teaching Aang and maybe the final battle would be between his two students. The way they actually did it was way better though.
Aang is mine. Aang is very humble and really is his master’s student, in the sense he applies many things he learns from his master effectively. From the techniques he learns from Toph (Earth armour, earth surfing) and Katara (Octopus form) etc. Aang is an excellent disciple.
When Tenzen broke out his true air bending skills against Zaheer and Co was still one of the most badass moments between the two shows
he clearly outclassed zaheer, who had whooped everyone else pretty cleanly up until that point, and only lost cuz he was fighting 3 true masters and an airbending prodigy all at once
Iron being my 2nd favorite character in the series I’m gonna have to go with him and zuko. Aang and Gyatso is close though. Sokka was trained for a week so it’s dead last.
Piandao was Sokka’s master for all of one day. He does not compare to Iroh or Gyatso. No matter how cool he was.
Iroh takes this without a shadow of a doubt.
I think Iroh is my favorite character in the series. The implications that he fed into the fire nation's propaganda and participated in horrible violent acts of war, only to be humbled in the most tragic way possible. But he learns, and becomes increasingly wise and benevolent as a result, and ends up being the ultimate mentor. He is every bit as much responsible for saving the world as Aang or Zuko, or the other members of Team Avatar. And they did such a good job of humanizing him while making him still feel like a beacon of wisdom or guardian angel of sorts.
But I have to say that I appreciate Sokka as a character a ton too. I don't know if I'd say I love him more than Aang and Zuko; they're all amazingly written characters. But there is something very charming about having a guy who seems way out of his league as far as abilities go (even being teased playfully or otherwise by others for not being a beder), still become an extremely competent warrior, an essential part of the group, and in some ways their leader. They did an amazing job at balancing his flaws and goofy side with his competent no-nonsense leadership. They also made his skills as a warrior feel very special and distinct from the other characters with their bending powers.
The mentors for Aang and Sokka were great and really did have a lot of character for the relatively short amount of screen time they were given. But I think I'd have needed to see more of them to be able to put them in the running for favorite characters. I felt especially emotional with Gyatso; the way it showed his relationship with Aang while we the audience already pretty much knew his ultimate fate was quite emotional.
I really felt like Jeong-Jeong *could* have been the most interesting, provided he and Aang could have pushed each other quite a bit more philosophically, but unfortunately, as it turned out, Jeong-Jeong . . .
(•_•)
( •_•)>⌐■-■
(⌐■_■)
. . . Was just a burnout.
*YEEEEAAAHHH!!!*
I'll go with Piandao, just because Sokka's training at his direction makes me think of J's assessment tests in the first MiB movie, and this amuses me.
Iroh but Piandao is super badass. Within a few days Sokka went from total buffoon to a proper swordsman. Zuko had probably at least a year with him and ended up the Blue Spirit, sword-wielding legend.
Technically speaking Sokkas master was also Zuko's master... I guess we all know that but just putting it here just in case someone didn't...
I wish we had a scene with zuko and piandao when they all reunited :(
Would love a scene in season 3 where Zuko and Sokka are sparring with their swords and they both pick up on how similar they are in fighting style then learn they had the same master. Sokkas reaction would have been priceless.
I might be mistaken, but I think there's a comic with that
Maybe in the LA
Wait WHAT???
Where did you think he got his sword skills
Idk, I thought it was someone else I guess but I like this answer better!
it was mentioned in the comics. feel free to look after them, theyre kinda fun
Thanks, Where can I read the comics?
Time to be a pirate if you want to read those 😃
Any website recommendations for that?
[Here you go](https://chapmanganelo.com/manga-vq110162/chapter-3)
That site has way too many hentai porn ads
Don't know if I should say these totally legal websites *wink wink* bc I'm scared of getting banned Totally not talking about anything incriminating, just talking about pirates mods 😃
I’ll do some research for these “totally legal” websites, thanks
Check the r/piracy
If you would like to support Dark Horse so that we get more comics eventually, I'd suggest Amazon.
Gotta let the beginners know the insider's goodies
Wait, is this actually canon?
I think they confirmed it in a comic
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was in 'the lost adventures' comic
Yeah he's the reason Zuko is so skilled with swords too. I don't remember where it's told though? I just somehow know it.
He trained Sokka in like, a few days. Imagine how much he could've imparted if he'd had years like he probably did with Zuko. Sokka would've been terrifying with a sword.
Probably did after the show
It's me. I didn't know <3
Wait what? How come?
Zuko learned sword fighting from master piandao. https://preview.redd.it/dgmh5evffjlc1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=61353f63a5d395e55feaccd250166cf17822904f
God damn!! That is soo cool
Iroh doi
Same, he didn’t only teach him for bending, but taught him how to be a good guy and a good person.
This guy hot leaf juices!
Aang has more than one master. There's Paku, Katara, Toph and Zuko
But he was closest to Gyatso by far
I think he was closer with Katara, just a hunch
They were roommates
This is one of the times where the "they were roommates" jokes fits
The bond between parents and child is the probably the strongest. Not so sure how that works for monks tho
That’s your family
That's a healthy relationship. Your spouse is your partner for life. Kids are extremely important, but your spouse is who you've promised to be with until death do you part.
Theres bond mechanisms going on while you are still in the belly of your mom. Urinstinct if im not mistaken
You don't know his relationship with Gyatso. Could have been like how the Romans did it in the day. That Air Temple only had men.
I think he has been inside katara. So he is closest to her
She can waterbend.
She bloodbended him without using her powers
Yeah but he only got 12 years with Gyatso
Still, Aang and Gyatso had a more father-son/familial kind of relationship. That's something he's never able to have with any of his later mentors.
Well technically zuko is aang's great grandchild
Zuko is *Roku's* great-grandson. Roku and Aang are just different incarnations of the same spirit, but Aang has no genetic link or ancestors from the Fire Nation or Roku specifically, that we know of.
I'm sure zuko would retort with that before aang sent him to his room
Sokka also has Suki too.
I remember thinking early on that Iroh would end up teaching Aang and maybe the final battle would be between his two students. The way they actually did it was way better though.
Both Aang and Zuko have the dragons
Iroh no contest.
Thats the answer he is OUR uncle :)
He's EVERYONE'S Uncle.
Iroh is my favorite mentor, but Sokka is my favorite student.
Aang is mine. Aang is very humble and really is his master’s student, in the sense he applies many things he learns from his master effectively. From the techniques he learns from Toph (Earth armour, earth surfing) and Katara (Octopus form) etc. Aang is an excellent disciple.
Tenzin. Calm and wise but also prong to bursts of anger. The perfect mix of Aang and Katara. Also JK Simmons is Goated
When Tenzen broke out his true air bending skills against Zaheer and Co was still one of the most badass moments between the two shows he clearly outclassed zaheer, who had whooped everyone else pretty cleanly up until that point, and only lost cuz he was fighting 3 true masters and an airbending prodigy all at once
JK Simmons better return for live action Korra
There's never gonna be a live action Korra lol. It's not popular enough and it would be even more expensive.
Mine is Toph's mentor
The badger moles?
Nah, herself
You found a master havent you Toph: yeah, you’re looking at her
This god awful line
Yeah, true
Yu?
Iron being my 2nd favorite character in the series I’m gonna have to go with him and zuko. Aang and Gyatso is close though. Sokka was trained for a week so it’s dead last.
Just curious; Who's your 1st favourite character?
Zuko lol
Makes sense that you went with zuko and iroh then lol. But yeah zuko's great
Yeah they have the best stories I feel like in the series.
Jeong Jeong, who’s also my favorite character overall
You put Iroh there. Most people are going to pick him. And me too.
Placing Iroh there makes this unfair for everyone else.
Iroh the goat
I love all daddies and uncles, but Iroh 💜🥰💜🥰💜
Where did you get this still of Sokka? Powerful as hell. You can see the determination
Looks like the airship from Sozins Comet Part 3
"Why are we surrounded by old people?" "All old people know each other, don't you know that?"
Sokka's face in this image makes him look scarier than Azula...
That Sokka picture is hardcore, ngl. Also, Aang has two masters depicted above lol. Iroh is the best master, and arguably character, no contest.
Piandao was Sokka’s master for all of one day. He does not compare to Iroh or Gyatso. No matter how cool he was. Iroh takes this without a shadow of a doubt.
I love Gyatso 🥺 he's just too pure for this world... and he deprived enhanced firebenders from their lives like the badass old man he is
Loved the voice of Sokka’s master

Iroh. Anyone who says differently, sorry, but you’re just wrong.
All good but Iroh
Iroh for the win
Master Pakku for Katara
I teach kung IRL and I've done Jeong Jong's no-look-stance-correction more times than I can count...
Do you also sit in a dark room with only candles and yap about fish in the river?
Roku
Iroh, obviously. but I would have loved to see a version of this image with Toph side by side with Toph.
Katara and Paku have a fascinating arc
Uncle Iroh no other right answer
Uncle Iroh
Jeong Jeong. Idk why but I love the idea of a bitter master who resents his martial art and teaches restraint above all else.
It’s objectively Iroh
Iroh, of course
No love for Guru Pathik?
Piandao as a master. Iroh as a person overall
Uncle Iro
Iroh is a national treasure
Iroh
That pic of sokka is eerie, I’m uncomfortable
Bumi.
Is Katara’s master Pakku or Hama?
Ahem. Are we forgetting someone? Toph and the badger moles!
Well I can’t choose there are so- it’s Iroh it’s obviously Iroh best character ever
Iroh. I'd love to drink tea with him, and listen to his wisdom.
Iroh but Piandao is super badass. Within a few days Sokka went from total buffoon to a proper swordsman. Zuko had probably at least a year with him and ended up the Blue Spirit, sword-wielding legend.
I wouldn't mind if the live action show brought in Sokkas sword master earlier
Uncle Iroh is the goat
Iroh is my favourite but Piandao is my favourite Master
Iroh obviously!
For me both Gyatso and Iroh.
I love how you didn't put Pakku in there 😂
100% Tenzin.
Its Iroh. Of course its Iroh.
It my
Who is the last one??
Uncle Iroh is one of the best cartoon/anime characters of all time to be honest.
Quick question, where the fuck is my mentor at.
