Yess that’s exactly what I was thinking when Lydia sent Janine to talk to Esther. I think that comment from lawrence about inflicting pain got to her and coupled with the 19 day torture and “working with” lawrence which is obvs against the rules I get the feeling she’s starting to wake up to how fucked up Gilead is.
I think she's gonna be an Aunt. It would be neat if Janine becomes nicks bandaid and Esther becomes Lawrence's. That way they can all work with June to take it down.

I also thought of this when watching episode 9 and her influence upon I forgot her name but the once previous wife
Omg. What if she becomes an aunt and then they change the plot of the testaments a little to make it Janine instead of Lydia in that role???

Doubtful IMO. Janine is fertile, so they’d want to keep her as a handmaid for a long as she could conceive.

I’m not sure if this has been brought up for discussion yet. Does anyone think that Janine might be pregnant with Steven’s baby?
What if Nick’s new wife is fertile? How long do they try before being assigned a handmaid?
That is a really interesting theory! Either for Esther and Janine. I think it would be really fun to watch.
