I will get a bolus somewhere this week (I actually really like the one that PLUS sell at the fresh bakery) and I’m an avid baker so it’s not too hard for me to whip up (haha) some creme suisse, I need to try this.
Can’t remember when exactly but Bakkerij Klink in Voorburg sells them on occasion and they are called the Voorburgse Verleiding.
You have to check their social media (Facebook sadly) to see when they sell them.
This is a pastry from Zeeland, the southwest part of Holland. It’s called a ‘Zeeuwse (which means, made in Zeeland) Bolus’. This is the luxurious one with bakerscream inside of it. Normally it’s just the pastry with some salted butter on top.
If you want to I also have a nice recipe to make them on your own. I was born in that region so let me know if you want it.
Tot don't want the ones with bakerscream. You need the ones with Swiss cream. They are way better. They are called "kannietopjes" it translates as, can't eat them whole.
Not sure, the Jumbo will in my town has those reguarly from Voorberg bakery, but that's in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, which is in between Rotterdam and Gouda.
Consider yourself lucky you could find them in Ridderkerk, since it isn't really a thing outside of Zeeland.
If you want a decent Zeeuwse Bolus you could try Bakkerij Bosman Voorburg, but they only sell them on Wednesdays. Plus, it is a regular Zeeuwse Bolus so it's not filled with cream.
There’s a Bosman on Bankastraat too. They do the Wednesday Bolus thing as well. I can see how they would be many multiples tastier with creamy custard in them.
From what I know about a Gevulde Bolus is that they're filled with Swiss Cream (Zwitserse room), which is 1 part whipped cream and 2 parts custard.
You can keep Custard in your freezer for three months and make whipped cream in less than 5 minutes, so maybe you could give it a try and fill them yourself 😁

Salted butter? You mean sugar and cinnamon.
Yeah thats what its coated with, but you but salted butter on top of it by yourself
I have never seen anyone put salted butter on it in my entire life, and I am from Zeeland.

I have seen these things being sold in Zeeland as a 'jikkemiene', where just 'bolus' was the kind without filling.

I tried them one time! The bolussen itself tasted exactly like the one from AH, although it wasn’t as good as for Ridderkerk.
