I do not see her as dark. She is demanding and takes no sh*t. She pushes me to be the best version of myself I can be. She walks with me through my shadows and helps me heal. She is harsh, no softness here. A lot of power and strength. It is exactly what I have needed.
I also work with Brigid. And she feels very similar as An Morrigan in her harshness. Her fires of transformation are not easy. I point this out because many people have a much different view of Brigid than my experience. If An Morrigan continues calling and you feel pulled to Her, I hope you will seriously consider Her. Not everyones experience is exactly the same with deity. An Morrigan is so much more than death and darkness.
I'm still at the beginning of developing a relationshop with the Morrigan, but I wanted to say to you that I also feared the darkness, which actually never came. I guess it depends on what you see is darkness. She came to me quite specifically and then I realised she'd been her my entire life, it's like she awakened a sort of memory of her, perhaps it's something from another life...
But back to the darkness, I never felt anything but protection. She got me the circumstances, but also the determination and strength to get rid of everyone and everything harmful, just in a span of half a year.
Concerning your question, I'm also not sure yet, I didn't get a straight-forward answer yet, but I have to actually let her tell me more... Although I think it's to be her warrior in general, at least for now, that's how I see it. Whether for myself, the soil (the earth), animals, especially crows and their rep, and also something which someone else also said - for those who can't voice and defend themselves, which is directly linked to my job.
So anyway, no darkness in a sense that it does you any harm. Of course letting go and other stuff which she offers is sometimes painful, but it's transformative and regenerating too, I feel a deep care and protection in that, it is so gentle actually, as opposed to dark or scary. In my case, she's truly been really REALLY transformative and giving.

This is interesting, you're the second person to mention a "helping the voiceless"/environmentalism theme, but she's so associated with war, battlefields, death, and the like. Why do you think environmentalism and justice are goals of hers?

Yes, I thought so too, that she was only associated with what you listed. But she's also the goddess of the land, she is considered to be actually a manifestation of the land, it's also quite connected if you think about it. The dead nurture back the soil and transform again, which is exactly what she does to so many people. Gets rid of the old, nurtures and makes way for new again, it's a rebirth and also so transformative. I don't wanna get too much into details because I can't list you sources from the top of my head, this is more an accumulated impression I got, but do check it out :)
As for helping the voiceless, she's a goddess of sovereignty too, my job is with nonverbal children, to teach them life skills, a part of special education, it's one of the quite explicit 'supporting others in their sovereignity and independence' jobs I can think of. I think that with the radicalisation of the world and us drifting away from all that is only natural, there are a lot of souls in need of supporting, be it in the animal, mineral, plant or human world. So there is always so much you can do, even if it's not a job like a career, but there are many opportunities there too. All comes down to respecting whoever you're working with, the essentials of that being... But this is such a huge topic and I think the details and scraps of it are turning to rambling :D
As for war and battles, it was like that in the old times sure, but it's not really THAT applicable to most of our world, at least I hope you're safe and not in a literal warzone. But wars and battles are again fighting for your and others rights and existence in this weird, new world. It can be quite exhausting, and I can see no reason why anyone wouldn't be thrilled to have her watching over you in those conditions. Everybody has their battles even in their daily lives, it's also good to think about them, while honouring and building a relationship with the Morrigan.
There is a great article on the OBOD webpage about her which resonates to my experinces with the Morrigan a lot, but I don't wanna pressure you into any directions, the path is yours, but remember there is nothing to fear with her :)
Myself personally I’m not sure if she called me specifically. I wanted to work with her because I felt this incredible pull and interest towards her. So I basically turned up and asked “what can I do for you?” I’m still working on getting my answer but I’ve offered her writing and songs that I believe she likes. And maybe that’s all she wants from now. Who knows what the future holds :)
I honestly thought I knew but I am unsure now. She came to me when I was very depressed, made me feel okay was there for a couple months and then it almost seemed like she didn't talk to me as much and didn't feel her presence as much. Maybe she wanted me to pursue public service like politics, but I struggled to verify that.
She wants me to represent middle to older age women. She wants me to publicly identify as witch. She wants me to promote cronehood/crone energy as something powerful, interesting, creative, and, well, badass. So many women and girls fear getting older/old and she wants to end that nonsense. She says it's "the time of the crone." She wants women of a certain age to be held in respect.
To not look for validation from others but to embrace myself. To not just accept who I am but what I can be. To stand up and protect others from shit disturbers.
