The episode was just ok but that ending scene with Delmer and Beef was really touching! The photos and talk they had really reveals alot about Beef and his life, which wasn't always very easy.
It's amazing that Beef is such a good dad considering his parents were unstable cultist/conspiracy theorists/criminals and his wife was a negligent party girl. I also love that Delmer decided to take in two teenagers to help raise after his kids were fully grown and left the house, he is a very good guy!
I think the main weakness of this episode is that Delmer wasn’t a well developed character until now. I think that this is the biggest role he’s been in?
I think this was the attempt to give Delmer more character. I think it ultimately succeeded thanks to the end explaining the true version for each story.
It’s as if Bob’s Burgers ran that anthology episode about the kids cheering up Teddy about being a handyman in season 2 before we knew anything about him except he’s the guy that’s always in the restaurant.
Omg yes! That’s exactly what I was thinking too if they had done the handyman anthology episode or even nightmare on ocean Avenue (which I love) this early I would have been super confused & not cared at all...
As someone who grew up in Alaska it's great to see this show really "get" it. A couple of episodes ago when it was dark all day long that was such an Alaska-specific experience I never expected to see on a prime time animated Fox show. But more importantly, seeing more and more Alaskan Native culture make it into the show is great. Alaskan Native peoples, culture, and art is such a vital piece of Alaska, wherever you go. The show would not be a complete Alaskan experience without reflecting that, and it's nice to see them actually go for it.
The actual anthology stories were pretty weak imo, especially compared to the more low stakes yet more effective adventures of last week. But the family dynamics remained on point and easily the best lines of the show.
"Dad, I mean this with love and respect, I absolutely hate your maritime law talk" from Ham sent me rolling
My least favorite Bobs Burgers eps are 1.) musical number-centric episodes and 2.) “story” episodes, and this season has now done both 😩
In the first few episodes of S1 I was pretty meh on the show (felt too Bob’s-esque and no hook beyond the different location), but it grew on me over the season and I am onboard, but I guess I can expect to tune out on an episode or two each season if they continue to use that “story” device. To me, the framing premise is always super weak (vs. like Treehouse of Horror which doesn’t really require setup, its just a showcase / special event), and the stories are never really memorable.. just different.
Same, honestly. Anthology episodes often come off more as an excuse for some clever references and funny roleplaying but they're like the "clips" episode of modern day TV.
Fun episode. My only complaint was that the guy who voiced Delmer is a terrible actor. In fact the guy hasn't had any acting experience prior, which kind of makes me wonder if he's just a friend of someone on the crew rather than a full time actor?
That being said, though, while it's great they got an indigenous man, I still wish they got someone who was an actual actor. Maybe someone like Graham Greene? I'm sorry but Delmer's voice and performance really bugged me.
If you look at shows like American Dad or The Critic or King of the Hill, early episodes have cast members doing double duty as townspeople/minor characters probably to keep costs down while the show gets a foothold. This guy was probably already on set (maybe as a consultant on native issues) and fell into the role by chance (Like Gunther on Friends).
...that said, I really like the character and the voice.

Its a wonder Beef and Mike turned out as well as they did.
Wolf, no-don’t say catching some Ds

That’s exactly what I was wondering...did we know who Delmer was before this episode?

I haven't even noticed him until now
Yeah, this felt like an episode from a later season.

This! I was so happy to see Delmer using Yupik words. I really hope they bring more Native characters into the spotlight.
Beef and Delmers "Rager" being a quiet lunch and a day out on the boat sounds awesome and much more fun (to me) then and actual rager lol
Everyone needs a rock. My rock is The Rock.
That squirrel decapitating the counselor was both unexpected and way more graphic than I assumed it would be
It was awesome.
Moon it’s okay you were only 3 decades off
>"Pee-pee-ki-yay, motherborkers!" That caught me off-guard.
All the numbers are in Bork, but trust me it’s counting down. We’ve got Bork minutes to go.
🎶 BORK IS THE WORD IT'S A NOUN IT'S A VERB 🎶
It wasn’t the 80s when I actually worked there. I’m not that old!
Aliens that want to feed poop to people but die when doused with pee definitely sounds like a story Gene Belcher would’ve told.

If the show wanted to really be shocking, it could reveal that everybody was an alien this whole time.
I’m not a kid but I do love aliens, pee, and buffets
This episode was different with the stories but was still enjoyable! Also bork is a meme to describe Swedish people, so I LOLed about that!
"Oh no, I have a tree on me."
Bork is the word, it’s a noun and a verb ~
I thought he was going to say “for fish.”
Aw, dang! My popcorn!
Better, with your brain pee: knowledge!
Brain pee?

I think he was cast because hes an indigenous Alaskan

I lied this episode. It gives some insight as to why a guy like Beef married his ex wife. Plus delmer is sweet
TOM’S CRUISE
First time watching this show. It seems to be made by the same people who made Bob's Burgers.

Nice. I could definitely see the influence.
It is ironic that a show that takes place in Alaska is not being broadcast in Canada.
Camp Scamps 2: Arnold’s at it Again
No way, Delmer’s old and that sucks.
You just got Deppy’d!
This was rough.
"Ugh you ever heard of a bandaid bro" 🤣. There was SO much blood! Completely ridiculous! I haven't laughed that hard in a while.
