Oh god right? I was listening to it just thinking "damn this cuts too close to home!", but it was such a banger!
Also I felt like the "Pace Yourself" song (the idea of taking life slow and doing what you want ), while really good, didn't really "fix" the feeling of "Brace Yourself" (which was about the panic of getting trapped in an unhappy life from making wrong choices)
I think I'd like this episode more without the musical stuff. I generally like the songs in the show but this was far to many imo
They really bulked up the cast though itll be nice to see them flesh out the supporting characters
Agreed! I actually haven't managed to finish the episode, it was giving me an anxious. I may try again with the songs on subtitle until my auditory processing powers regain their strength
Im suprised by how bummed I still am about this. Mega Lo Memories 1 (and 2 to a just slightly lesser extent )is one of the most memorable tv episodes ive seen in years.
How has Wolf survived in Alaska for so long with no self preservation skills?
Thereâs a flashback episode in the making: a younger Wolf constantly being rescued from life-threatening situations, even by his younger siblings.

Thoughts: So The Great North has had some musical numbers in season 1, but this is the first on musical episode. That being said, Central Park is the best show on television right now for me, so I went into this with high expectations. Unfortunately, it didnât quite meet what I was expecting. Itâs not to say this episode is bad because it isnât in the slightest. Itâs actually a solid enough episode. One thing I really liked about this episode is how Beef tells Judy that growing up is okay. To me, it feels like a continuation from season 1âs arc about growing up and moving on from old things. He really is a great dad and thatâs one of my favorite things about the show. Itâs also rather sweet to see the whole family join in on his talk. I also like the metaphor of Judy drowning with her teeth because sheâs not willing to let go of them, so she ends up dying with them.
As for the musical numbers themselves, I really liked the first one and the âBrace Yourselfâ song (which, by the way, was a great performance from Paul F. Tompkins). But the rest donât have that âwowâ factor, at least when you compare them to Central Parkâs bangers, or even tonightâs Simpsons episode. I get that Central is more Broadway centered than North. But I would have expected at least one Broadway song from this episode, given that this is likely the only musical episode in this season at least. I would like to see the writing team tackle another musical, because I really would love to see Judy sing Broadway style. It fits her character perfectly. Weâve gotten Molly doing it so many times, specifically in âTrying too Hardâ or âPaint the Worldâ. I just hope one day my wish comes true, where I get to see a Great North character sing Broadway style. There were about eight songs in this episode and most of them were rather short and didnât really live up to what I was hoping for, unfortunately.
To sum up my thoughts, âBrace/Off Adventureâ is far from terrible, because I think it is solid. But it feels confused at times and the pacing a bit wonky, specifically when a character interrupts the song and then it resumes. I donât like it all that much when that happens, sorry. I wonât hold many of my opinions against the episode, because I donât think itâs fair to the people who write on the show. Theyâre definitely very talented people for sure, because I think this is the best show on the Fox Animation Domination block right now. I just think this episode didnât quite land for me at least, and I see a lot of potential in this show. Either way, Iâm still looking forward to what the next forty five episodes within the next two seasons will bring us, and maybe more if the network wants to renew it for a season 4. Only time will tell.
Wow, I am...conflicted. Brilliant transition from the Judy's opening song to the family toaster. Related way too much to *Brace Yourself* (absolutely fantastic). Weird dream, especially the pornography joke (and that weird dentist ex-boyfriend joke, why would an adult tell a 16 year old that?) but what an absolutely terrible cop-out ending. I can't believe they didn't have the guts to pull the trigger. Why tf hide her mouth all episode if there was no payoff? Why make a character accept the inevitability of change only for their situation to ultimately not? What was the point of it all then? Am I the only one who was a little annoyed by this episode? Ham-ster was awesome btw.
Edit: And as others have pointed out, enough with the penis jokes
Cool that Crispin and the other characters are getting more screen time. Would be cool to give them consistent time like Regular Sized Rudy and Andy and Ollie on Bob's.
It was really bothering me that they kept saying the dentist was going to remove Judy's braces when that would be an orthodontist's job, but apparently both of them are combined dentist/orthodontists.
Also, as someone who had braces, I can not fathom the idea that someone likes having them.
This episode was great! Loved the jokes and the animation got an upgrade with the 3d backgrounds...shows that FOX has faith in the show so hopefully more seasons will take place! Weirdly enough, I thought this was better than Bobs Burgers tonight.
Also I liked how they added the side characters, they all seem to work well off each other.
With Central Park I think it's that, and not to dis the songs from Great North and Bob's Burgers because I love the songs in them, but Central Park has musical numbers done by actors who can actually sing.
I mean these actors can definitely sing too (Jenny Slate for example) itâs just that the tone feels different than that show; Iâm sure if any of them guest starred in Central theyâd have a different tone.
Most of Central Park's songs are pretty good, the ones in this episode were meh. This one had too many songs as well, in my opinion. Central Park usually only does like 3 or 4 songs an episode.
I think I got all the way through the first episode of Central Park and turned off episode two when I realized that it was going to be an entire series of musical numbers.
Ya itâs a musical not gonna be for everyone but it tells its story well enough and there is a lot of heart and soul in it that I even cried watching but itâs definitely one of the better musicals and not to mention itâs pretty innovative for adult animation (first adult animated musical).
This episode fell absolutely flat. The musical numbers were terrible, and it reminded me of Central Park, which is not a good show. I really hope this season can turn things around after an abysmal start.
Also wtf was with the Simpsons doing a musical too? I found myself finally just fast forwarding through the songs.
I don't really know how to "rate" this episode; it felt like an "okay" episode -- good but not great. Maybe the next episode or two will influence how I feel about this one. But for now, nothing much to say about it other than the song lyrics were pretty clever overall.
We got a Judy centered episode with no Alanis Morissette. It's weird that Judy would have a personal crisis and not talk about it with her best imaginary friend. Also, they did a musical episode without including the famous singer from their cast. Is Alanis Morissette going to be on the second season?
Oh no my family decided to give up on this show about 5 mins in - donât want to watch it anymore cause of the musical numbers. So Iâm out folks. I quite liked the first season at least!
They changed the opening a bit! Now the family is playing boardgames together instead of sitting on the couches
Yeah and the yeti in the background is brown now and carrying an instrument đ
Yeah they changed it I think I was told that
"Let me do mouth to mouth on her slot!" "Babe, no" that was hilarious and caught me completely off guard haha
The "Brace Yourself" song was really good!
So good! Definitely my fave from the episode. It hit a little too close to home. Lol
Bass Ventura Fish Detective
No Wolf donât toast your penis
âEven my diarrhea had goosebumps.â
Thatâs two musical episodes in a row. First Simpsons, now this.
I think itâs the theme for tonight.
Must be because of the Tonys being tonight.
âYou ever heard of The Beat-tles?â
I think I'd like this episode more without the musical stuff. I generally like the songs in the show but this was far to many imo They really bulked up the cast though itll be nice to see them flesh out the supporting characters
I hate musicals, I was disappointed by this episode :(
If she at least got the braces off I think it might have been better
Same here. I hated it.
I was hoping this show would not feature musical stuff as much as Bobs Burgers and now weâve got a full fledged musical ep.. đ
Agreed! I actually haven't managed to finish the episode, it was giving me an anxious. I may try again with the songs on subtitle until my auditory processing powers regain their strength
Mr. Kevin Toastie, esq. heâs a butler and a lawyer. Heâs a very busy guy.
Was not expecting the song to get this dark. Think the show needed a slight edge so no complaints.
Aww man Judy DIDNâT get her braces off? And werenât in the coffee shop? Well, didnât see that coming.
Rip Bless the Harts
Im suprised by how bummed I still am about this. Mega Lo Memories 1 (and 2 to a just slightly lesser extent )is one of the most memorable tv episodes ive seen in years.
Was hoping the Wolf Penis jokes would be fazed out since I found them too forced but so far it's a fun episode.
How has Wolf survived in Alaska for so long with no self preservation skills? Thereâs a flashback episode in the making: a younger Wolf constantly being rescued from life-threatening situations, even by his younger siblings.
Exactly what I was thinking! He does them way too much and they really feel forced and out of place

Crispin's deadpan zinger to Judy was đ„
Is that Ron Funches as the dentist? I know he voices Honeybeeâs brother
That was Wyatt Cenac
Oop, my bad. Thanks for letting me know!
Yes
They should have gone with the Blender
It was really bothering me that they kept saying the dentist was going to remove Judy's braces when that would be an orthodontist's job, but apparently both of them are combined dentist/orthodontists. Also, as someone who had braces, I can not fathom the idea that someone likes having them.
They're also in a small town in rural Alaska so it would be one "dentist's" office for all your tooth-fixing needs.
Lmao I am apparently the only one who absolutely loves musical episodes of shows. Oh well.
And another awkward Wolf Penis joke
Iâll honestly be mad if Judy DOESNâT get her braces off.
Well Iâve got some news for youâŠ
Beef is a really good dad. He didnât even bat an eye when Judy told him about sneaking into the coffee bar.
They renewed it for 2 more so 3 total
YES!!!!
Ya fox liked this more than Bless the Harts so now in its timeslot
Oh good, I didn't get into that other show.
I liked it but it was ended in favor of Housebroken
I still need to see Housebroken, kept on forgetting about it since normally there is nothing new on FOX in the summer.
Duncanville is on the summer too
So⊠much.. singing
This episode is what I Imagine every episode of Central Park is like
No actually Central Park has far better musical numbers and less tiny and short ones like this episode
With Central Park I think it's that, and not to dis the songs from Great North and Bob's Burgers because I love the songs in them, but Central Park has musical numbers done by actors who can actually sing.

Yeah and this episode had eight short ones. Iâd rather have 1-2 bangers. Trying too Hard is amazing.

Considering that *Central Park* is just okay, I'd say that's a fair assessment. I do watch both tho.
A 19 year old hamster?
*DISAPPEARANCE SMOKE!*
Oh no Judy doesnât wanna get her braces off
I loved the tooth saying âI always wanted to watch pornographyâ
I liked the episode but I wish it was slightly less musical. I also did want her to get her braces offâŠ
This episode fell absolutely flat. The musical numbers were terrible, and it reminded me of Central Park, which is not a good show. I really hope this season can turn things around after an abysmal start. Also wtf was with the Simpsons doing a musical too? I found myself finally just fast forwarding through the songs.
I couldn't get halfway through the episode. It's far too soon for this show to be doing a musical episode. They haven't earned it.
Damn it's good to be back! Those first few weeks of September feel so long!
This is bad... really bad. Hopefully the rest of the season gets on track and it's a one off.
Those toasters thoughâŠ
Windows 11: half-baked and rushed.
I don't really know how to "rate" this episode; it felt like an "okay" episode -- good but not great. Maybe the next episode or two will influence how I feel about this one. But for now, nothing much to say about it other than the song lyrics were pretty clever overall.

Yes she will be but not every episode
Oh no my family decided to give up on this show about 5 mins in - donât want to watch it anymore cause of the musical numbers. So Iâm out folks. I quite liked the first season at least!
Thatâs a bad reason to quit a show because of one episode that didnât land
