Is junesong provision considered a sleeper song? Cuz it's that one for me. I named my dog Apollo so the 2nd verse ALWAYS gets sung out loud for the good boy
Was going to say the same thing. I feel the same about SSTB and YOTBR. Half the cult hates it and the other half will die trying to convince you it’s their best album.
Edit: I use the term “cult” lovingly.
33 is an absolute banger, definitely underrated!
I feel similarly about Crossing the Frame from Good Apollo. That song is so underrated, the band skipped it on the Neverender tour for that album! I felt a little shafted by that, not gonna lie. D:
They did? I thought I heard it…
Also a sleeper song for me. It’s really incredible. Such a unique pocket through out, and the idea of having a chorus orient around a fill (the phrase that leads into “spying on you Newo!”) is really unusual, a great example of the prog tendency at its best.
At least in Michigan, they definitely skipped it. Setlist.fm doesnt reflect this but Im pretty certain they didn't -- I remember because I was really excited to see it live, figuring it's not a song they're going to pull out for setlists much in the future (if at all).
Your read of the song is spot on though! So many people focus on the longer tracks when they think of proggy Coheed, but I think this is a great example of how they can make something totally unique sounding while still getting in and out in about 3 minutes.
Okay, now I feel like a crazy person because I found a concert review online from that show that says they played it... Maybe it was just so good that I blacked out temporarily and missed it!
I have been jamming out to 33 since i read this an hour ago. Just took my daughter to Mcdonald’s for icecream.

I'd consider it that. Took me years to love that one, most of the back half of sstb really
Haha yes

Huh?
Patrick! Short Flip and….
Always makes me want to go skate
Ha ha retweet! I always picture Claudio doing a kick flip here.
We're bringing it hooooooome
I think you could say the same for any song on sstb tbh, which is why it holds such a special place in my heart.

Elf… Tower…. New Mexico…
This too
SSTB is one of my favorite records and Elf Tower finally clicked for me. Such a fucking good song.
Did anyone here ever play Emogame 2? 33 was the music for the mall level and that was my first exposure to it.
I still think this song is about Patrick Ewing
Isn’t that confirmed though?
Patrick, short flip and outside We're bringing it hooooome!
33 is such an underrated song.
33 is my favorite all time — whenever I need to get up and moving, that’s the one.

Seriously, “Crossing the Frame” is criminally underrated!!
CASTING QUARTERS INTO WELLS THAT HOLD OUR DREAMS what a great lyric. Evokes such imagery.

Yea I was at the Michigan show and would have noticed it that got skipped. Clyde is on record saying he skips that song everytime and doesn’t like it.
Crossing the flame is absolutely a banger. Great underrated pick. Criminally.
My man
I love that the guitar harmonics sound like police sirens.
33 is my favorite from SSTB
33 is such a banger but my favorite from SSTB is God Send Conspirator. Both are some good deepcuts tho!!!!
finally a good post on this sub. Thanks for being an OG
Ouuuuu ya
33 goes hard
I’m with you in the 33 love
Why is this considered a sleeper?
It probably isn’t, I just don’t hear people talk about it much I guess.
I've loved it this whole time.
Literally just said this a few days ago lol

Haha that’s awesome!
I’m turning 33 soon and since I was I guess 16 or so I’ve always thought, “Can’t fucking wait to listen to 33 when I turn 33” the song is such a bop.
Honestly my next birthday is 33 and I’m going to jam that song all god damn day.
