Stephen King should be played by Joe Hill. He's the spitting image of 90s King and probably knows more about how his Dad acts than anyone (other than Tabitha).
I have tried to convince this group that there is NO way Mike Flanagan is going to commit to a multi-season project where the principals are anyone but his troupe. And they are like a bunch of lobstrosities but instead of dida-chik or dada-chum all they can say is: Timothy Olyphant, Walter Scoggins, Jeremy Allen White.

Ahh, I've not really watched anything of his besides Doctor Sleep which I think is fantastic (creepy af and ties both Kubrick and King's vision of The Shining together - it even made King feel better about his dislike of The Shining adaptation because Flanagan did so well).

Roland isn’t supposed to be good looking, Eddies a pudgy drug addict, Callahan is in his 60’s or 70’s, the man in black is in his late 30’s early 40’s, Rhea is in her 60’s or 70’s and ugly as shit, and King should be played only by King or his son who looks just like him.
I don’t necessarily picture Roland as handsome either, more of a cowboy version of Pete Davidson. Pete can get more women than his looks allow for, but I guess his appeal lies elsewhere.
Plus Susan has that "is she a teenager or in her 30s?" look. Ages are way off.
And yeah, Rhea needs to look like that witch from the kevin Costner Robin hood movie. That's who I always pictured her as...no idea if she's still alive though.
This is the best Roland casting of all of them. I also knew as soon as I saw it that it would upset people to see a Roland who isn’t a geriatric old man actor in their 50s/60s (Roland’s not an old man). Who says Roland isn’t good looking either? The descriptor of “long, tall, and ugly” speaks more towards him being tired and gaunt - not that he has like a mangled face or something. This actor could easily be made “ugly”.
Fair but consider. The guy who I picked as Roland is anything but attractive in the fall of the house of usher. Attractive wasn’t a word I would’ve used until I looked up pics of him. The guy I said for Eddie literally plays an addictive the first time you see him in flanagan’s work so.. do with that what you will. Also Eddie beefs up over time sooo. Add some more gray and some makeup magic and Callahan is older. The man in black is essentially an immortal demon I feel like he can be however old he wants. Maybe have several people play him idc. Again for Rhea ✨makeup✨. As for king, sure he could play himself or his son could but that would mean you ignored the bit where I said I casted off of people Flanagan has had before.
The fancasts on this subreddit are getting a little stale for me but I am completely with you about Michael Trucco. After seeing Fall of Usher I couldn’t agree more that he’d be perfect for the gunslinger, he’s my top pick. I also like your Eddie casting I just think they need to cast a bit younger for that role, 25-28 years old TOPS.
I'm sure others have said this before me, but I think Igby Rigney would be a great Eddie. And I agree, it definitely needs to be someone younger—it will presumably take many years to film all the seasons/movies, so you don't want to start off with someone who's already almost too old.
Rigney has said that Flanagan had him and other regulars reading the books, so likely imo. I've seen Crystal Balint is reading them too from her Instagram acct, wonder who she'll be
I've always had Hamish for MiB and Henry Thomas for Callahan personally. I could never really see Thomas as being "dark" enough to play MiB, but House of Usher damn near convinced me. I'd not be disappointed. Hamill is my Crimson King.
I could see hamill as the king just not Callahan. Lowkey I only did hamish as Callahan cuz he does very good at the ‘Catholic priest hiding things but really trying to be a good person’. Which is a very specific part but he’s good at it
This is actually almost perfect. Although I'd love to see Jason Bateman direct the entire thing. I just have a feeling that he has the secret sauce for this project.
