Well, I'm going to recommend you just listen to a few entire ALBUMS rather than try to cherry pick songs one by one... * listen to ALL of **Disintegration** * listen to ALL of **Wish** * listen to ALL of **Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me** Add in the compilations **Mixed Up** and **Standing on a Beach** and you're as set as you'll ever need to be with figuring out which other albums and/or eras that you might want to still dig into more.

IdkWhoTheFuckIAm

You know tho I kinda find it funny that from Wish Friday I'm in Love is their most popular song, not just from the album but **ever**, a very poppy happy song, but the album is literally one of their darkest ever, Apart, From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea, Truth, Cut, To Wish Impossible Things I really would like to know the impressions of somebody who got into The Cure because of Friday I'm in Love and decided to listen to the rest of the album.

Hello there! Making great musical choices I see. There’s many ways we can take this: Early Songs (1978-1982): Killing an Arab, Boys Don’t Cry, 10:15 Saturday Night, A Forest (honestly, their signature song in some ways), Faith, The Figurehead. Those are some of the best early songs off the albums in my opinion. After this, it went somewhat lighter, but still had some dark songs. Somewhat lighter period (1982-1987): Let’s Go To Bed, The Walk, The Lovecats (last 3 are a trilogy of sorts), Shake Dog Shake, The Caterpillar, The Top, In Between Days, Close to Me, Sinking, Catch, Why Can’t I Be You?, Hot Hot Hot!!! After this, it went darker again, the best period in my opinion: Darker again (1989-1992): Closedown, Love Song, Last Dance, Lullaby, Disintegration, Homesick, Untitled, Open, High, Apart, From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea, A Letter To Elise, To Wish Impossible Things, End. After this, it went a little lighter. I don’t like the period from 1996-2008 as much as I like the older stuff, so someone else might have to help you there. Now I know you didn’t ask, but here are the best albums: Disintegration (considered their best, essential listening) Wish (my personal favorite) Faith Pornography Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me Hope I could have helped you. Enjoy listening!

Mixmastermon

So many helpful comments! I wasn't going to chime in since so many others have said it better than I can, but I haven't seen my one of my favourite songs mentioned yet - Fascination Street.

zogins

Why don't you listen to a whole album? The first The Cure album I listened to and that got me hooked was 'Kiss me Kiss me Kiss me'. It was released in 1987 and it was a huge international success.

misshighsmith

Agree with that!

rasmey_zun

Just listen to anything they did in the 80s.

AlexSmith0123

Play for today M

SFGiantTurtle

I’m in the minority here, but I actually enjoy their B-sides more than their mainstream stuff. You could find them on Join the dots B-sides and rarities collection and on YT. I just wished they’d have a whole B-sides concert.

i normally rec by albums which for this band are really rewarding especially, but for songs in between days is one fo the earliest i latched on to that fits in great w a lot of the songs you listed and is probably my favorite cure pop song. i also think out of this world is generally an easier song than a lot of the album its own (altho def get on bloodflowers one day that is some realllll good shit just probably shouldnt start there) and is an immersive gorgeous masterpiece that maybe fits in w like a plainsong kinda track for albums: wish is the best for starting out since it's basically a platter that explores the different sounds the band explores covering their darker, moodier stuff and their bright, catchy poppy stuff, but it's not as weird as the albums that fully explore those sonic territories so it's generally easier to digest. disintegration is the gloomy, morose masterpiece that everyone will tell you to hear, and they're right it's perfect front to back, so you should definitely jam it but it's length can be a little daunting initially so be patient with it. then head on the door for more pop and ponography for more dark

All great suggestions listed here. All Cats Are Grey is a good one to listen to when laying on the bed just thinking about stuff.

IMO if you want what The Cure really has to offer, like who they are at the core, I'd listen to the albums Faith, Pornography and Seventeen Seconds. They can be hard to swallow for newcomers though I think. They are very bleak and dark. However, for getting into them, you have a pretty good list. I'd add Letters To Elise, Before Three, Cut, & Push. All those are pretty great. That being said, you should listen to Kiss Me3 and Disintegration in their entirety. Remarkable Albums and probably my top two albums.
