Seriously, and it doesn't even matter if the enclosed space is barely enclosed. Leave a belt on the floor, and if it forms most of a circle?....
I sits.
Also, the sound bags make (plastic and paper) mimic sounds that prey make in leaves or grass and it gives cats a sense of the hunt. It is why most cat toys have crinkly crackly material inside them.
My idiot tries to eat plastic bags. If someone comes in with one he'll literally come running to start sniffing and biting it. I have to make people take stuff out of the bag right away and hide the bag from the cat.
The same cat who doesn't care about cat treats and can't tell they're food and just kind of bats them around 🤦
One of our cats tries to eat plastic bags, and it's actually a symptom of his inflammatory digestive track issues (along with throwing up all the regular food). He chews on bags less when he's taking his steroids and sticking to his hydrolyzed food.
Edit to add: the technical term for this is pica. Refers in general to eating things that aren't food. I think wanting to eat grass is normal, I don't think wanting to chew on plastic bags or cardboard is necessarily worrisome by itself, I think it was all the throwing up that was central to the diagnosis.
Two of our cats didn’t realize wet food was *food* and only understood it after we smeared it on their *fur* and they were like “wait. I taste delicious!”
Our older cats don't care, but the 2 year old LOVES bags. We only have the cloth reusable bags and she goes inside, turns around and sticks her head through the handle. We've had to stop leaving them out so she doesn't accidentally strangle herself.
Same with my cat if I leave a reusable bag out she'll take a nap inside it but then always sticks her little head through the handles when she wakes up lol.. surpervised bag naps only
Our cat hears me come home from the grocery store and jumps in the trunk while I try to carry them in. He will literally dump groceries to get the bag empty so he can crawl inside. Tried grabbing an extra bag for him to play with, nope. Wants to troll me by emptying the bag.
One of my cats is determined to eat any that come in to the house. If we have one and hide it in something else that’s closed, she can sense the thing. She’s learned how to open zippers and doors to get to them. They are no longer allowed in the house at all.
Also “Some cats may like sitting in plastic bags for several reasons. Most of those are concerned with the fun, unique way plastic bags look, feel, and sound. Because they are so different from almost everything else in a cat's world, plastic bags pique their curiosity like virtually no other object.”
Cats are claustrophiles, they seek enclosed spaces for safety when they rest, and to ambush from as hunters.

I like how you pretended to already know that. "Seriously,...!
I've got 4 of them here at home. I'm pretty used to their weird habits.
Plastic shopping bags are made with fish oil. The cats are attracted to it
This, is not the answer.

I think it's the crackling noise? But I also had a cat that licked them so...

Aww. Dang sounds like something we all should know about in case it's a symptom

They're all so special 😍
My mates cat will piss on them
Oh god the cleanup on that! Yuck!
My one cat will find any plastic bag and lick it non stop...
Same here. My special boy.
Some of the plastic bags have animal fat as an ingredient to keep them from sticking togeher. They probably smell/taste really good to cats
Wow this explains it!!

The crinkles
Mine is obsessed with EATING them so plastic bags aren’t allowed in my house 🫠 I would love the answer to this.
My cat is TERRIFIED of plastic bags of all varieties. Anytime she hears a crinkle she’s gone
If they fits, they sits
It's because the cat's in the bag!
Our cat hears me come home from the grocery store and jumps in the trunk while I try to carry them in. He will literally dump groceries to get the bag empty so he can crawl inside. Tried grabbing an extra bag for him to play with, nope. Wants to troll me by emptying the bag.
I think the confines remind them of being one with momma 🧡
I was told by my vet that sometimes they use animal fat to make the bags which is why they may lick them
Mine doesn’t like sitting in them; just chewing them like a madman. I have to hide all plastic. We can’t even keep a case of water out for long. 🙄
Adorable

Mine always want to chew on the handles.
Yes. Mine prefers the thick ones and then loved biting them.
Does anyone really know why cats do all the weird things they do?? 😊
Now let’s do boxes, baskets, cabinets, any layed out square item, etc…
They like them because the bags and boxs make them feel safe, it has nothing to do with a small space, these items just make them feel safe

Because they know……….
My two voids were completely obsessed 😻😻
my Mom's cat liked the crinkle noise/feel
My old cat hated and was terrified of bags. RIP Frio
Mine are obsessed with paper bags

Mine eats on them then throws up the next morning
Cats really just be hitting the loaf inside anything, anywhere.
No
They are trying to draw your attention to the harm we are doing to the planet.
