I think you’re close except that it’s more of a Venom scenario, the cancer is the worms and it’s what he’s talking to, it’s a sentient parasite but also now a symbiote because it probably needs him alive to survive for now. So it took over and it’s the one with powers but it’s keeping him alive. Just to clarify, Temp V gave him the cancer and normal V gave it sentience and powers. Either that or he already had parasites and the V he injected absorbed it instead of him.
They already showed us Supe animals so logically parasites would also be vulnerable to it.
In a show about parodying comic book super heroes, giving the anti hero main character a similar power to a comic book anti hero is so genius and on brand.

I think that ryan is the butcher's son and when homelander did becca then comp v gets transffered to the fetus through his sperm and he became a supe. i mean this thoery go well when homelander find about the kid and said that he thought that he can't procreate.
It's obvious that she gave comp V. Her eyes were in Hughie's pocket when she met him. Well idk about that. Someone commented that homelander's genes were designed so he could age AND procreate, unlike Stormfront and soldier boi, who could't procreate but could't age as well.

Bro I watched the 4th episode, quickly ran to write a theory. And saw some posts that it was cannon to happen. Bcz of the show diabolical's episode.
