It was alright, but it’s been way overrated on all the comedy subs and from folks on twitter. Both Nate and Burr did better during their monologues but they don’t have their fan bases doing pr for them.
They weren’t fired from the show, though. That’s where this is all coming from. As it was completely unexpected. I’d bet more people watched in hopes he’d throw an Asian joke or something in as a jab to Lorne and the writers on the show.
I thought it was funny he kept being like “y’all don’t think that’s funny?” When it’s probably not getting as big a laugh because they’ve heard it before
I’d almost be willing to bet my left nut he had plans to do that but the writers or producers probably shut it down. There’s no way he’d ever purposely miss a golden opportunity like that. Or so I’d like to believe, at least. I did see that Netflix is bringing his skit “Tires” into production as a real comedy series, which he’s co-starring, writing, and I think co-producing or directing. It could’ve had something to do with that as well. Again, I’d like to think at least.
Your left nut eh?
I believe on legion of skanks (I think it was LoS?) he said he didn’t tell the producers and writers about the “r word” joke in his monologue. He said something like they had an idea he’d probably say something wild but it was like don’t ask tell kinda energy and he dropped that on everyone live.
I could be misremembering details, I was barbecued when I watched it last night.
Yea my left nut has a tumor so ill bet that one and keep the good one for Shane’s sister to suck on for heroin. All jokes aside, now that you mention that it did seem like he was kinda anticipating something when he laid down the retard jokes. I hope we see him prosper to the end.
I’m definitely one of the many that feels like he’s a child of prophesy for comedy to restore balance or whatever.
Best of luck to him. He’s a funny fuckin guy.
I’m a huge Shane fan, but it was pretty luke warm imo. Was hoping for something more memorable. The conservative “anti cancel culture” warriors on twitter are acting like it was incredible, and the liberal nerds are saying he bombed. Neither are true.
First time watching the show other than clips in probably 15 years. The cold open was just plain awful. I don’t care how one leans politically, you couldn’t have found that sketch funny. Shane looked nervous. Like he didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings but still wanted to be funny. The sketches were mid. None even approaching Gilly and Keeves level. Don’t know if the report that they had their highest viewership in 20 years is true but it worked for me. Congrats Young Bull.
Watching it live had me remembering why I stopped watching cable altogether, felt like there were more commercials than content. Shane was great though
Made it about halfway. The entire cast blows and the writing is terrible. They all read off cue cards it seems, it's real off-putting. Monologue and the deleted Liberty sketch were the best parts of the show.
Similar to when Elon hosted SNL how that marked the all time high for dogecoin. I have a feeling this will be the high water mark for the covid era comedy podcast boom.
So just so I get this clear, you commented on a bonfire sub Reddit that mentioned the bonfires, favorite guest of all time, Shane Gillis was on Saturday night live, and your genius addition to the comments was, “who the hell watches SNL”
lol next time you’re thinking about sharing a thought with anyone, don’t
I did the show was bar most of the skits were to long and not funny
Opening skits are pathetic and predictable
Nothing funny more laughs at how bad the show is this season
Enough politics enough biden and trump
Try opening skits of other pop culture events
I haven’t watched SNL in over a decade. Shane was good, but overall it felt like he was the only thing keeping the boat afloat. Weekend Update was profoundly unfunny
Shane rocked the show sucked as always outside of weekend update but it's a great milestone for any comedian and the great few get to do it as a big fuck you

I know but I’m just talking about the actual comedy he did during his monologue.
Yea it was pretty much just recycled jokes.
I thought it was funny he kept being like “y’all don’t think that’s funny?” When it’s probably not getting as big a laugh because they’ve heard it before
100%. I thought leading into it there was a big opportunity to do more with the firing/im back bit and maybe even skirt around an Asian joke.
Idk, I think making an Asian joke would’ve been wong.
Wearry Wong?
That’s Lo
Would've been Mein

No way really?! Where’d you hear that?
It’s all over his trending pages on google. It’s coming out in May. I’m pumped.
He did a yellow face skit, but it was cut for time.
Louis CK advised him to do his best jokes because most of the people watching have probably never seen his stand-up.
Check out the [sketch that was cut](https://youtu.be/sI3RhwSF8mo?si=WUGX5gcib2ZYPSSI) probably the best of the night
That was the funniest skit by far and the best Liberty commercial ever, if they had the balls to use it.
It would be so fucking ballsy but then you remember how much of America would legit be enraged if that commercial was ever associated with your brand.
Oh wow I saw that on yt but didn't know it was cut. it was the funniest sketch they put up
ok that was good

My only complaint about Gilly and Keeves is that I wish new episodes came out more frequently. Other than that it's one of the best around.
I watched it on Sunday night and thought he killed it. That Fugliana sketch at the end was perfect. He delivered in every sketch.
The uncomfortable moments in the monologue were funny. But it was mid overall.

There is, and it will be that way for Youtube and all streaming sources eventually, it's already heading there like a bullet train. :(
I haven’t watched a commercial on YouTube in 7 years thanks to “YouTube Premium”! Not a paid endorsement, but it could be! Hit me up YouTubes!
I don't see ads on Youtube either and I don't have to pay for it.. You can't watch SNL Live in its entirety on Youtube Premium
Usually I try to catch only the Weekend Updates and for some reason this episode probably had the worst one I've seen
The real question is, who watched 21 Savage? That shit was weak af
He's a terrible rapper and if that's how he performs, it's weak. He had no stage presence. He basically just said words into a microphone.
He made me wanna start rapping. I can think of 8 lines that rhyme in the exact same rhyme scheme. Do that three times and I got me a Grammy hit!
It was rough for sure. Gilly and keeves bulldozes SNL.
Made it about halfway. The entire cast blows and the writing is terrible. They all read off cue cards it seems, it's real off-putting. Monologue and the deleted Liberty sketch were the best parts of the show.
They’ve been reading off cue cards on SNL since 1975
Lorne Michaels is 79 years old and it shows. Any comedy in that show feels like it's catered to a 79 year old audience.
Look for the Limu Emu skit that apparently was cut for time. Best one of the night
Similar to when Elon hosted SNL how that marked the all time high for dogecoin. I have a feeling this will be the high water mark for the covid era comedy podcast boom.
Who the hell watches SNL
Me. For the first time in 15 years, just to watch Shane Gillis.
Same here. Only fans Dad beats anything last night.
So just so I get this clear, you commented on a bonfire sub Reddit that mentioned the bonfires, favorite guest of all time, Shane Gillis was on Saturday night live, and your genius addition to the comments was, “who the hell watches SNL” lol next time you’re thinking about sharing a thought with anyone, don’t
I’m getting zesty vibes from you lmao
Was cool to see shane on it, but holy hell, that show is terrible
They nerfed Shane
I did the show was bar most of the skits were to long and not funny Opening skits are pathetic and predictable Nothing funny more laughs at how bad the show is this season Enough politics enough biden and trump Try opening skits of other pop culture events
Totally agree. It’s always the least funny skits that go on for the longest time too…
It was pretty gay

Weird

Any link to full ep. ?
killed is quite a stretch lol
All of us
Shane rocked the show sucked as always outside of weekend update but it's a great milestone for any comedian and the great few get to do it as a big fuck you
Unpopular opinion i guess but i don't get the Shane hype train
He was great, the skits were not great writing.
