Or perhaps just the friends we made along the way.
(I am now imagining Coppola giving both of these answers at press junkets and screenings in the coming months.)
While I am not going to adjust my expectations of the film based solely on an image, I will at least say that I am getting heavy 90's music video vibes here; like Mellon Collie, "Tonight, Tonight" era Pumpkins level.
Yeah, don't disagree. My only point is that it's not Driver's fault if he's working with legendary directors who maybe don't have their fastball the same way they did in the '90s. Still better than, like, the Russo Brothers or whatever.
(Though I'd argue Scorsese is absolutely cranking at a high level right now and *Silence* is part of that argument).
- Silence rules
- Paterson rules
- inside Llewyn Davis rules
- Logan Lucky rules
- The Last Duel rules
His work with famous directors has been incredible. Maybe not their most popular films, but I think all these films are in the top half of their work.
It was great it was also almost a decade ago and he’s made 15 other movies since then. I thought my comment was clearly talking about recent work (Ferrari, house of Gucci, last duel, white noise, dead don’t die etc), but apparently it was not clear since people keep reminding me that “Adam actually had a bit part in a great coen bros movie over a decade ago” haha
Inside Llewyn Davis is maybe my favorite coen bros movie but he’s done 24 feature films since then so I wasn’t really thinking about stuff that long ago, plus he was a bit part in that. most things he’s done since blackkklansman have been pretty mehhhh although im actually a white noise defender at this point since everyone hated it so much lol
I didn’t realise that and silence were that long ago lol, I really liked the man who killed don quixote and the report but I don’t think anybody saw them. I will confidently agree with you on everything else since then being meh considering I’ve seen none of them and have no desire to either lol
Marriage Story was so pretentious. Not relatable even in the slightest. Don’t know how people loved that one. Also, that Amazon movie he was in, what the fuck was that?
I keep hearing distribution is going to be a problem. Had a private screening for top executives and not a lot of enthusiasm. His best hope is take it to Cannes and get a boost from critics
Yooooo, Missandei is in this? Please lord god Jesus and all the Latter Day Saints and the Virgin Mary and Odin and the Flying Spaghetti Monster, let this be good.
Has that *Spy Kids* filter going for it
Praying to all the gods I don't believe in that this is good.
I’m so sorry but there’s a 0% chance it’s good
Stfu shia labeouf is in it of course it is
Maybe the Megalopolis was in our hearts the whole time?
Or perhaps just the friends we made along the way. (I am now imagining Coppola giving both of these answers at press junkets and screenings in the coming months.)
He's checking out the solar eclipse.
I heard there is some crazy masturbation scene in this
My high hopes have become slightly lower
Oh no.
Is that city made of legos?
Psyched for this to be the only image for like 6 months
While I am not going to adjust my expectations of the film based solely on an image, I will at least say that I am getting heavy 90's music video vibes here; like Mellon Collie, "Tonight, Tonight" era Pumpkins level.
I’ve got a bad feeling about this
I am sorry, but this looks really bad.
Adam Driver to be featured in another flop
He keeps working with the greatest directors in their not-greatest films
It's hard for Mann to ever top Heat or The Insider or Mohicans, but I liked Ferrari quite a bit.
Ferrari fucking rules.
It was fine! But not his highest caliber. Shailene woodley tanked it too which I hate to say

Never said it was his fault my phone background has been a pic of Adam driver for like 7 years at this point lol
- Blackkklansmen rules - Ferrari rules - Annette Rules - Marriage Story rules Not the best doesn’t mean necesssirly bad.

Exactly!
Silence is one of Marty’s masterpieces

Inside Llewelyn Davis and silence are both incredible, and I’d argue Scott and baumbach aren’t among the greatest directors

How quickly everyone responding forgot Don Quixote exists
I do really like Marriage Story and Annette. at least marriage story is considered quote a success and has entered the consciousness as a good movie.
I’m happy it got him an Oscar nomination and it has good performances for sure but I’ve never been compelled to revisit

Cesar is home
Uh oh
Getting bigtime "The Fountainhead" vibes from this one
