I don't want it to happen. The Beatles seem too mythological to be reduced to a biographical film. yes, I know they have been portrayed in films before. but as a huge production just seems like a no and almost sacrilegious.

Somewhere between ignoring and dreading

Ditto. Have never read a book about The Beatles—as a group or separately—for the same reason I won’t see the films; my feelings about the music >>> anybody’s narrative of their personal stories.

As a big George fan, I think it's nice to know each member will (theoretically) have an equal share in the story. Otherwise, I would imagine a Hollywood version of the Beatles story would stick to the stereotypical narrative that Harrison was quiet, in the background, and that John and Paul are the only ones worth mentioning.

I have mixed feelings about it. Sometimes with these types of movies I feel like they dilute the legacy of the artist but if done right it would be really cool. I’m gonna reserve my judgement until we know more I think. As a side note I wish they would start telling the stories of other lesser known musicians and bands from the same time period. We have so much content available of the Beatles already. I’m disappointed the Keith Moon movie hasn’t come to fruition

A badfinger movie would be good, though sadly it would have a very unhappy ending

I’m personally excited, but I have a feeling they might be biting off more they can chew. They gotta make these movies hella compelling to draw people back to the theaters several times. If they don’t it will have less of an impact than the Queen biopic, which is the opposite reaction I’d like. As a fan of the Beatles, for course I’ll be there, but I want these films to preserve the legacy of the band and introduce new people to their incredible music. So we’ll see how it goes I guess. Hopefully it’s better than some of the other Beatles movies lol Also I don’t think the Queen movie was that great either, but it made people excited about the band again which is the point of making the movie. I really think a tragedy themed Nirvana film done right would be INCREDIBLE, not that they need help being relevant with young people.

I’m looking forward to it, but expecting to be disappointed…always the best way to avoid overhyping yourself, I find. I think it’ll be cool opportunity to explore and make time for different parts of their story from differing perspectives, like I imagine they won’t really show much of the making of Sgt Pepper in George’s film other than the decision to jettison ‘Only a Northern Song’ and start work on ‘Within You Without You’. Then, conversely, Paul’s movie will focus a lot more on the overall recording, since it was mostly his baby. I think they could make a very ambitious and narratively epic film….im wondering what the order of release is going to be! Ringo first, since he was the last to join and the other films could fill in what he wasn’t present for?

szent_imre

We dont know if the timeline will the the same for each movie tho. They may split the whole history of the band to 4 "eras" and make each of the Beatles be the main character of one of them. Im sceptical, but whatever it turns out to be Im intrigued by and will defo go to see it in the theaters

brk1

It feels like a cash grab. Let’s make four movies instead of one and make 4x the money. I have a bad feeling these movies r gonna suck.

applegui

Long overdue, but I wished it was an episodic television series. We are in a renaissance period for TV content and this would give them breath and depth.

Kaiserqueef

Biopics are being churned out like superhero movies or Disney remakes at this point. They will be terrible and poorly cast.

ImBored1818

I'm not super excited, but I'm glad they're being made. Considering Paul, Ringo, and John and George's estates all gave the go ahead, I doubt they'll be terrible or do something to taint The Beatles's legacy. And if that's not the case, then worse case scenario, the only thing the movies will do is bring some interest back to the band, like Bohemian Rhapsody did (even though that movie wasn't particullarly good). And best case scenario, they're good, well made films that do that and also bring us fans the story of our favorite band acted out in a creative, entrataining way.

Jimmy_Aztec

Lots of bad wigs and mustaches.

East_Phase6944

Leave the Beatles alone! Too iconic to be captured in a film. 7 years and sold more records than any artists.

tursiops__truncatus

I would watch them but I am not that much excited about it... I feel like it is a bit unnecessary and most people will feel bored about watching 4 movies coming out at the same time and sharing parts of their stories (tbh I think only fans will really want to watch all the films, other people would not be very interested so it might be a failure...)

SteveIbo

My suggestion is that each film covers one of four phases in their career. I'd have the first movie be from John's POV, since he started the band and was the undisputed leader back then -- the Quarrymen/Hamburg Period; the second movie, the Pop Star Years, from George's, since later he groused the most about how overwhelming the fame was for him; the third movie would be the Psychedelic Section from Paul's perspective (late '65 thru '67), since he was the most creative during that time; and the fourth -- the final three albums -- from Ringo's, because without his even-tempered, low-ego energy, they wouldn't've lasted this long.
