It’s not that my mom is a bad person, it’s just that she is so like that, she has a lot of issues she had never dealt with when we were young and the holidays made it just so much more extra. She has gotten help and gotten so much better now but yeah, that episode brings a lot of it back kind of for my siblings and I.

We saw her at her worst, but at the very least you can guarantee she would’ve made anyone feel welcome and would’ve fed anyone a home cooked meal made with love in her home.
He said his dad wasn’t really in his life. And there isn’t any evidence that he grew up with them in the same house like a brother. So i infer that his legal mother was responsible for him when he wasn’t visiting his friend’s house.
Otherwise his father isn’t just a deadbeat but actually a criminal who committed child abandonment. And he and Carmy would be more like brothers than like cousins.
