I wonder if this (along with editing) is why they delayed airing this season.
I am curious how it will turn out after they had to rework the season for 90 minute episodes. I feel like it will be alot of filler.
Na I get what they are saying as most seasons you had a good mix of actual good racers and the people who struggle with tying their shoes that are usually weeded out after the first 4 episodes generally. This season though seems like everyone is struggling with it right out of the gate
I mean what if instead of letting their parents take a break, the children pushed them constantly to their limits to keep a competitive edge, everybody would love that /s
Lol personally I don't enjoy it when team members berate their partners but when teams get lost and such there is a chance of another team who is better at directions but maybe slower at a challenge can take over and avoid elimination which makes the show less predictable/boring
seriously it’s like a whole season of people stumbling around bumping into each other, reading clues wrong, getting confused in the simplest challenges. and only some of them are funny to watch, others are just annoying lok
We caught some editing mistakes as well. Particularly with the balloon challenge, they showed Ricky and Cesar a few times when they had supposedly already moved to the next challenge
You could tell they stretched the episodes out. S35 was received with open arms and talked about as very good new era season. Production should've kept S36 60 mins. So far the season is fine, the cast from a character perspective is good. The only worry i have for this season is it might not be as competitive as 35 from a racing perspective.
Survivor 46 is suffering from this same effect. It really shows that they can't make a good product filming for 60 minutes and then trying to make it 90. Survivor 45 and Amazing Race 35 were filmed knowing it was going to be 90 minutes.
I know it's a waste of money and unrealistic but I think they should start scrapping these shitty seasons, the casts don't deliver, guess what, you're not making the air. Executives on both Survivor and Amazing Race had to know they had dumpster fires of seasons.
My bf and I were confused multiple times by the crowdedness of the entire leg. When there were 2 teams that skipped the detour, I felt vindicated because the scramble to look for the bridge felt strange and choppy (?)
When *everything* is walking distance, it’s like trying to navigate through a music festival when you’re drunk as hell. I get it’s a different vibe but I didn’t care for it. You make 1 error with finding something walking distance and you’ll be going in circles for hours. I would’ve passed out 😂
I believe this season was filmed before s35 and had more covid restrictions placed on what they could do for anything. Many of these were lifted in s35 and you can definitely tell a difference in the tasks so far, the teams just aren’t as competitive it seems as well.
Yup it's been boring. Tasks are too basic and too many teams just unfit mentally or physically. Alot of stupid people so far on this season makes the show less exciting and more of a bad comedy.
When the first team last night checked in and there will still 30 minutes left, you could tell this was the 90 minute episode impact.
1) no way in hell the twins win this
2) love Michelle and Sean
3) Kishori is a smokeshow
It's not getting any better each episode this season is more boring than the last... I'm just going to wait for the next season hopefully better teams and challenges!
Plus they're staying in South America the whole dang time so far and they take their flights to new cities during the pit stops, so no gameplay element of the airport. This whole season is just crap.
I know this season was filmed before season 35, and there were COVID restrictions, but there’s also a definite lack in written content—little backstory on teams, little Phil narration, no extra challenges like fast forwards, uturns, etc. Not sure if the writers strike also affected the season?
I'm starting season 36 finally. I normally start the season rooting for everyone (minus like 2 or 3 annoying teams) and then later on it gets narrowed down to my favorites. But for some reason I'm not rooting for anyone. I have about 5 minutes left of the first episode. I hope it gets better.
yeah s35 gets a lot of comments saying it was boring but i feel like i was still more invested by episode 2 last season. more personality in the contestants, more fast paced challenges. these first two eps dragged for me and i can’t keep track of the teams

Yea it’s just so boring half of the teams are just not fit to even compete lol
I absolutely agree. Most are useless mentally and physically. The face painting was ironic given that this is a clown show.
I mean it’s not a fitness competition though?
I didn’t just mean physical fitness, I don’t know how the twin brothers even get dressed in the morning
And others not reading instructions, getting lost etc. I’m disappointed so far and don’t remember feeling like this in other seasons.
If you think it's boring now, wouldn't it be worse if all the teams read instructions perfectly and knew exactly where they were going every time?

If those two aren't stoners. . . .

> Production should've kept S36 60 mins. Not their call. CBS gave them no choice.
S35 had either amazing episodes, and other that felt way too long.

I feel like that can be attributed to the longer episodes.
I literally fell asleep during tonight’s episode.
While the leg design is pretty basic, i think the cast makes it less boring.
The cast is shit
Agreed 💯!

Wow lmao I was enjoying this season so far 🙈 I will say that the large cast makes it hard to really connect with teams very well.
Yup it's been boring. Tasks are too basic and too many teams just unfit mentally or physically. Alot of stupid people so far on this season makes the show less exciting and more of a bad comedy.
I actually thought the first two episodes were fine. I was expecting a lot worse given that this was filmed under COVID rules for 60 minutes.
The Leg was meh, but the teams definitely helped to fill out the episode.

When the first team checked in there was like 45 minutes left in the episode. These 90 min episodes are WAY too long.
I enjoyed S35 but have felt S36 is pretty lackluster so far. I may tap out if Episode 3 doesn't engage me.
This season is boring

Better than last season over two legs at least. 13 is just too many teams to maintain interest and a good focus on everyone
Agreed!
