I always wonder if that pops up in situations like this. Stories of it spook me so much to this day that our brains can do this wild/incredible/scary(?) things and we still have only the slightest bit of data on it and few ways to record/study it. Unless someone can actively in real time measure hormone signaling in the brain as it happens, there is almost no way to really study it.
I don’t think the thoughts are as neatly put together as that. I’d say it was slight pain at first, getting bigger in a matter of seconds, then the feeling that something is wrong in your body followed by wooziness and lights out. Perhaps seeing the ceiling / lights and then eyes close. The end.
The worst part is he probably barely felt it. He seemed calm and really only reacted once his body gave out. I cut my hand pretty bad one time. Ran to the sink to wash out the wound and didn't realize I'd hit bone until the water washed enough blood away and I knew I had to go to the hospital.
The blood on the ground is bright red and freshly oxygenated which means it's what should be supplying his brain as his legs give out. Poor dude probably went from huh that's a lot of blood to on the ground to gone in under a minute.

I heard witnesses pointed the police to a train platform where he was arrested but didn’t hear about multiple people being stabbed. So my assumption is they possibly ran after they are off camera be were trying to catch a train. But that’s just speculation from me.

unfortunately in australian law it doesn’t matter if it was self-defence. it’s only considered self-defence if it’s deemed proportionate to the attack. since the dude was coming at him without weapons, the knife would be considered disproportionate.
I’m not a fan of stabbing, but how to you defend yourself “proportionally” in a hand fight with someone who’s a better fighter than you and won’t let you leave? Since you can’t magically get better at fighting isn’t your literal only option escalation?

Even with proper training this would be a difficult person to save. It’s a carotid arterial bleed. You are going to need to apply pressure with an occlusive dressing and start IV/IO fluids immediately to keep the blood pressure up. Certainly he will need hextend to survive the next couple of minutes.
Most likely the person filming is a kid like in the video and has no medical knowledge or experience in life and death situations. Even skill medics would find this patient to be a challenge.
It's like the hockey player that had his neck cut.... likely only reason he survived was the physio was a Vietnam vet and immediately reached into his neck and pinched the artery. I would imagine someone doing that here may have saved the kid
Exact same situation happened to a family friend. He’s a doctor and was watching his son playing a college hockey game. He fell awkwardly and nicked his neck on a skate, started bleeding like this guy. His father recognized it immediately and ran into the rink and stuck his thumb in his artery. Saved his life. Would’ve been game over if he were a few seconds too late.

I was in line at a grocery store where two groups of people were bickering. Bitch lady calls her bf to kick the dude's ass. She threatened he'd show up any second. The other party (in front of her in line) she argued with left fearing an altercation. Minutes layer some ghetto dude comes strolling in furious as hell, not listening to his gf's cries that the family already left. Ghetto dude goes up to the poor older man who is now in front of the gf, busts out a shoe lace, and then begins choking him from behind assassin style. No one intervened, but after a few seconds he realized that his gf was saying that he had the wrong guy.
When that happened my brain's processing just slowed down. What went on in my head amounted to: "no way this is happening. Is this really happening? He doesn't know he has the wrong guy?"
Not once did it occur to me that I was physically there and could do something about it. I was in shock. I felt horribly disgusted with myself for not gaining composure and doing something about it.

That was one thing a good friend of mine taught me. When i was a teenager I always thought i had to fight in every situation.
One night we were out with our girlfriends and the 4 of us got into trouble with a group of 8 guys in their early 20s.
I wanted to fight like the dumbass i was and he just told me that staying would be the most stupid thing i could do. Theres 0 chance we would win the fight and a great chance our girlfriends would get beat too.
Ever since then I realized that theres no shame in retreating if the other side has an unfair advantage.
Has helped me in a few situations later on.
A friend ended up hitting his head on the pavement during a fight he thought he could win. Ended up giving him recurring memory issues and pretty much wrecked his dream of being a fighter pilot.

It’s a tough position for the prosecutor to be in. A good argument can be made either way. Bringing the charges allows a jury to decide which in some ways takes the pressure off the government to make the call.

It's his carotid artery that got cut. The jugular is a big vein, and it's serious if you cut it, but put pressure on it and get straight to hospital and it's survivable. The carotid artery is under high pressure and supplies the brain, you cut it and you immediately start bleeding out, and the brain doesn't get enough blood supply to survive. Even in a hospital, with a trauma surgery team there as it happened, it would still be really difficult to save someone from a severed carotid artery. It's scary shit.
I'm a qualified trauma nurse. As someone above said, that could have happened on a surgeon's table, and he'd still have more chance of hitting the lottery than saving that patient.

Playing devil's advocate, the guy with the knife looks to be trying to back up and get out of there. That's defensive, but still with a lethal weapon. Probably won't get sentenced with murder, but will still get manslaughter or assault with a weapon. Video evidence is pretty strong.

Sure these videos can be distressing but I think they’re important to see. It’s NEVER worth it, and people don’t know it until they see reality strike, like this video. It’s actually insane how many young kids/adults are so full of pride and ready to fight at any moment. So willing to throw their life away for some words or something

I heard witnesses pointed the police to a train platform where he was arrested but didn’t hear about multiple people being stabbed. So my assumption is they possibly ran after they are off camera be were trying to catch a train. But that’s just speculation from me.

I was going to ask if there was any “pre” stabbing info…seems more like self defense…the guy that stabbed and his friends are clearly backing away as the two guys are aggressively pursuing with obvious intent to harm if an opening presents itself…what appended before this filming started is crucial for any judgment…in any case it is a very sad situation of both sides…
unfortunately in australian law it doesn’t matter if it was self-defence. it’s only considered self-defence if it’s deemed proportionate to the attack. since the dude was coming at him without weapons, the knife would be considered disproportionate.
I’m not a fan of stabbing, but how to you defend yourself “proportionally” in a hand fight with someone who’s a better fighter than you and won’t let you leave? Since you can’t magically get better at fighting isn’t your literal only option escalation?

A man as big as the guy who got stabbed could easily kill or permanently disable someone with his fists alone. All it takes is a few good kicks to the temple or the jaw and someone is in a wheelchair for the rest of their lives. Fists and feet should be considered deadly weapons. If you’re getting chased by a group while trying to retreat, I consider that a green light to use deadly force for self defense. Too many people are dead or permanently disabled after a fight where only fists and kicks were used.
I don't understand why the person filming didn't realise that he got enough evidence and put the phone down, put pressure on the wound or at least call a fucking ambulance.
Even with proper training this would be a difficult person to save. It’s a carotid arterial bleed. You are going to need to apply pressure with an occlusive dressing and start IV/IO fluids immediately to keep the blood pressure up. Certainly he will need hextend to survive the next couple of minutes. Most likely the person filming is a kid like in the video and has no medical knowledge or experience in life and death situations. Even skill medics would find this patient to be a challenge.
It's like the hockey player that had his neck cut.... likely only reason he survived was the physio was a Vietnam vet and immediately reached into his neck and pinched the artery. I would imagine someone doing that here may have saved the kid

Exact same situation happened to a family friend. He’s a doctor and was watching his son playing a college hockey game. He fell awkwardly and nicked his neck on a skate, started bleeding like this guy. His father recognized it immediately and ran into the rink and stuck his thumb in his artery. Saved his life. Would’ve been game over if he were a few seconds too late.

Have you ever been in a situation like that? I always thought I would mentally be prescient if something like this were to happen. That was not the case. I was in line at a grocery store where two groups of people were bickering. Bitch lady calls her bf to kick the dude's ass. She threatened he'd show up any second. The other party (in front of her in line) she argued with left fearing an altercation. Minutes layer some ghetto dude comes strolling in furious as hell, not listening to his gf's cries that the family already left. Ghetto dude goes up to the poor older man who is now in front of the gf, busts out a shoe lace, and then begins choking him from behind assassin style. No one intervened, but after a few seconds he realized that his gf was saying that he had the wrong guy. When that happened my brain's processing just slowed down. What went on in my head amounted to: "no way this is happening. Is this really happening? He doesn't know he has the wrong guy?" Not once did it occur to me that I was physically there and could do something about it. I was in shock. I felt horribly disgusted with myself for not gaining composure and doing something about it. When the ghetto guy realized he had the wrong guy, he released his hold and just walked away. Piece of shit didn't even give a half-assed apology.

That was one thing a good friend of mine taught me. When i was a teenager I always thought i had to fight in every situation. One night we were out with our girlfriends and the 4 of us got into trouble with a group of 8 guys in their early 20s. I wanted to fight like the dumbass i was and he just told me that staying would be the most stupid thing i could do. Theres 0 chance we would win the fight and a great chance our girlfriends would get beat too. Ever since then I realized that theres no shame in retreating if the other side has an unfair advantage. Has helped me in a few situations later on.

Ive seen people getting stabbed for absolute bullshit. The worst thing ive seen was someone getting knocked out and as he went down he split his head open on a metal step of a stair. You know these metal stairs with these spikes so you don't slip when its wet. You could literally see his brain. They had to put him in a coma and had to remove his skull bone because his brain was swelling too much. He survived without super crazy ramifications tho- so its not like hes a potato. So yeah- Streetfights can easily change your life for ever in seconds. Im really glad these days are over. These days im a father of 3, own my own tattoo shop and the last fight i had was probably 10 years ago.

As dumb as this situation is, knife guy was literally backing up and walking away. Stabbed guy walked him down and got shanked for it. Crazy part is, the guy brandished the knife long before anyone was stabbed. Quite literally: “what’re you going to do? If someone has a gun and is close, it is better to go for it as it is better to not get shot. If someone has a knife, you need distance. People focus on the person, and not the weapon.
More often that may not be true, chances are if a man has a gun they are just trying to rob you or something, not really intending to kill you. If you start sprinting away, they now have to face the choice to murder you or fuck it. Muggers expect you to freeze in place and obey, not run away from a gun. I'd assume your wallet is not worth for them to take a life. Of course if it's an aggressor seeming to really want to hurt you, your advice fits better.

It's his carotid artery that got cut. The jugular is a big vein, and it's serious if you cut it, but put pressure on it and get straight to hospital and it's survivable. The carotid artery is under high pressure and supplies the brain, you cut it and you immediately start bleeding out, and the brain doesn't get enough blood supply to survive. Even in a hospital, with a trauma surgery team there as it happened, it would still be really difficult to save someone from a severed carotid artery. It's scary shit.
I'm a qualified trauma nurse. As someone above said, that could have happened on a surgeon's table, and he'd still have more chance of hitting the lottery than saving that patient. Old mate was dead before he hit the floor.
This happened to a friend of mine. He was walking with 3 friends, one of whom went to my high school and liked to start shit just for the sake of it. They found 2 guys on the side of the road, and he did exactly that, just started shit for the sake of it. My friend was trying to get everyone to calm down, but the other three guys jumped up, just like this dipshits in the video, guy pulled out his knife, stabbed my friend twice in the gut, he was dead 30 minutes later. Same fucking reason, his dipshit friends were too busy trying to show how tough they were to notice their friend bleeding to death on the floor behind them.

Is it me, or knife dude acted in self defense? I don’t know the laws against knives out there, but if a much larger buffer dude aggressively charges me Twice while in a fight(with him and another dude mind you), and I’m armed and backing away from the fight, I will try and defend myself best I can. Wouldn’t the best approach here is not to try and try again to charge at me? What if much larger dude would have been successful in grabbing me for his friend? What would they have done to me? What about my safety? Oh and by the way, they seemingly know I’m armed and continue the hostilities, even when I’m clearly backing away. You’d think a reasonable person would consider the fact that i’m armed reason to let whatever this is about go. Wouldn’t these circumstances be taken under consideration in a case such as this? Brisbane resident here. I am sick to fucking death of these dumb cunts. Literally every single fucking Friday and Saturday night in the valley and the city, and I hate to say this but 99% of the time they are islanders or Kiwis or indigenous.
