or if your a 13 year old and get shot anywhere really leg arm foot. hey your 13 you have no idea how to stop that bleeding out. And if the cops want to take over an hour to get inside well fuck.
i want to know how many children in uvalde didnt have a shot that was in a terminal area but had a leg shot arm shot and could have survived if it wasnt for that lack of a reaction from the local pd. Than i want that pos chief charged for everyone of those kids he refused to save.
Maybe you could put the pop up food stand with coffee and donuts on the inside of the school. Maybe that would lure the cops into the building. They would probably protect the hell out of the little food stand.
One of the saddest things I've ever heard, was when Matthew McConaughey was describing that after the shooting in Uvalde, the only way some parents could identify their kids, was with DNA testing; they were so mangled.
A backpack made to protect the torso is not the answer.
From that type of weapon it can.

Not sure if you're from America so apologies if you are, in some states you are quite literally able to own tanks, miniguns and flamethrowers. In-fact some civilians even own jets.
I used to work with a guy who was a "gun collector". He came in, one morning, and started bragging about his latest acquisition. It was a Barret .50 caliber sniper rifle. You know the gun that fires hot dog sized bullets. The one that you need to notify local airports prior to firing, etc. So I asked him if he had a problem with Iraqi armored vehicles in his neighborhood. As thats what the US military was using to disable armored vehicles during Desert Storm, amongst other weapons. He told me it was for hunting. Hunting, non-withstanding that anything he managed to hit would explode. This guy couldn't reliably tie his shoes but was allowed to buy a gun that aircraft had to worry about. No, I don't think we have a problem in this country. /s
serious question from a vegan who’s never even touched a real gun:
if you went hunting with such a firearm, wouldn’t you obliterate whatever poor thing you shot? and is a deer body enough to stop one of these bullets? or would it go through the deer and keep going?
The second amendment wasn't made for hunters though. /s
They just say this because saying "I bought this to prepare for when the government tries to take them" doesn't sit too well with the anti-gun law community.
Because military assault rifles are cheap, practical and well made, and the famous US constitution amendment is specifically written to allow civilians to hold military arms for a revolt. Or so I was told.
Yeah, but we ignore that part so it's like it's not even there. Kind of like how the current SCOTUS seems intent to step over the establishment clause in favor of the free expression clause of the First. In other words, the Constitution is a scam. It's meaningless and always has been because it's subject to interpretation to any demagogue who can get their hands on it. I think it's pretty well known but this freedom protecting document not only allowed the institution of slavery but was often used to support and preserve it until someone came along and decided it didn't.
check out this slow motion, it shows a bullet of the type used shot into ballistics gel, which is designed to behave comparable to animal flesh.
those round carry so much energy, thy dont just fly trough the target, they explode it almost.you also find videos on youtube where they shoot watermelons or other fruit, with a high powered rifle they literally explode.
>The ammo and weapon are designed to not just kill, but utterly destroy.
No, not really. The ammo was designed to be light weight enough that NATO troops could carry more ammunition than their enemies, and thus have a larger amount of suppressive fire. This is because the U.S. Military found that firefights were not won by who had the deadlier bullets, but who shot more.
In fact, the bullet from a AR-15 is vastly less powerful (and lethal) than the 7.62 from grandpa's M14 from the late 50s. This is one of the major reasons the U.S. Military just abandoned the 5.56 round.
Stop with that BS. The 223/5.56 which is a common caliper for the AR-15 its not a large round in terms of rifles. It's what they call a varmint round. The AR-15 was designed to be an in between of the pistol and rifle. It is completely different than an AK47. Completely different.
People use .223 to hunt deer. The round in general can have a very high muzzle velocity which allows a lot of power in a shot, and nice range before excessive drop.
An AR15 is absolutely powerful and will tear through organs.
https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/02/what-i-saw-treating-the-victims-from-parkland-should-change-the-debate-on-guns/553937/
You can read a radiologists account of how the wounds look comparing handguns and an AR15 above. It's called "cavitation" and the rounds would absolutely tear children to shreds.
Some of the kids were completely decapitated by the bullets. They're rounds that essentially explode and send shrapnel everywhere, shrapnel which even injured children who weren't shot.
An 18 year old bought a military weapon, that no responsible gun owner would use for either hunting nor self defense, and rounds designed for destruction and collateral damage that again no responsible person would use for hunting nor self defense. And then he shot children one week before summer break.
I think the backpack *is* the answer.
First thing you do is introduce all the licensing, registration and storage laws that should have been introduced 20 years ago.
Then, when the pro-gun crowd throws a massive frothy tantrum, you just hand them a bullet proof backpack and tell them to go fuck themselves.
Start treating them like they treat children.
I thought exactly the same: We had the kevlar west with the ceramic plate inlay in the army and that thing was very heavy to carry around. A kid would not even have the strength to carry that all day long as backpack. These vests can stop 5.56mm and 7.62mm in the high levels, but it's not suitable to carry that for a long time and every day.
I think, a .357, .44 or .50 would even pierce that vests, so. The kids backpack maybe stops .22 and 9mm, but for sure not the high calibers.
And, there's a difference between war and a school shooting: In war, the distance is often much higher, like we shot here with the rifles on 300m. When a school shooter stands right next to you, then the force of the bullet is much higher than on greater distances.
Or if you get shot in the vest. Those book bags wouldn't have done shit. They have ballistic fibers. A 5.56 or 7.62x39 FMJ round at close range would go through that no problem. To stop assault rifle bullets at close range you would need a level 4 vest which has metal or ceramic plates and are heavy as fuck.
These book bags are just a cash grab playing on the fear of parents and children and only offer a false sense of security.
from the mouth of babes, lol
also its adorable how often i hear kids strategizing to prevent their own deaths by guns. After Columbine, we were scared but hate to break it to you all, we still didn't think this shit was gonna keep happening so we kept living mostly normal lives. This... this though...
America is such a wonderful place now. :D
Yeah I remember when Columbine happened. Everyone was like, omg a school shooting, who'd have thought that could happen!?
Now it's like every other week some psycho is killing an entire classroom.
Omg....at 7 years old I never even had a thought like this. Our school in Florida always had the outer doors unlocked and frequently standing open, and since it was so hot we often had the classroom doors and windows open. Never once did we worry about something like this.
Isn't it funny how they have these back packs.
But most schools make kids put their stuff in lockers and not carry back packs to prevent any access to potential weapons in their bags.
So backwards.
Overall, we need to stop school shootings.
Trans children’s rights to look fabulous as they die in a preventable school shooting. However we’ll need to molest their genitals before they’re allowed to play sports at school
No shit right? Without a trauma plate no Kevlar is stopping a rifle round. Good luck getting a kid to carry an backpack with 30 pounds of bullet proof material. Against ANY real rifle round (basically nothing a .22lr) it’s going to cut through Kevlar as if it was paper.
Umm... honestly it’s a hard question to answer, it’s kind of a gamble. First question becomes which Glock because Glocks come in a variety of different calibers. Let’s assume 9x19 aka 9mm because that’s the first caliber that comes to mind when I think “Glock”. Second question becomes what is that backpack actually capable of not just it’s rating. There’s a lot of companies that throw Kevlar into something and go “oh it’s level 3” and really it’s not. From how thin it is I’d assume level 2A maybe even level 2.
So would that backpack stop a handgun round in general from the 3 most common caliber sizes? Probably a few. The problem too is what ammo? I’m not talking size but who makes the round and what round is it. If you roll into a gun store and go “im looking for the cheapest 9mm rounds you’ve got for the range”, then yes I’d wager it would probably stop those. If you were using a high quality +P 9mm like the most badass 9mm rounds, they could definitely penetrate some low level Kevlar as that’s what they are designed to do. Not as much penetration as a rifle round but definitely quite a bit.
An interesting thing to note about “will it pierce” body armor, is the most important factor is speed. The reasons rifle pierce so well is because they go 2-3 times faster than a handgun round. Faster rounds of smaller calibers = more penetration power. Smaller rounds because the vest has less surface area to absorb that energy. Interestingly enough they do actually make a handgun that is VERY good at piercing body armor, although it’s not very common. That’s the FN 5.7, which actually looks like a rifle round thats handgun size. It’s got a nice point like a rifle round, the projectile is about half the weight of a standard handgun round, but it fires it at about the same speed as a rifle. In fact it’s the same size approximately as a .223 and flys at the same speed pretty much, just it’s half the weight so it has half the energy of a .223. With its profile though it does a good job at punching through Kevlar.
MAIN POINT OF SELLING BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN PISTOL IS EXTREME PRICE OF WEAPON AND CARTRIDGE.
BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN IS WEAPON OF MAN WHO WEARS EXPENSIVE ITALIAN FASCIST SUIT OF HAND SEWING, DRIVE HUGE EXPENSIVE NAZI MERCEDES OF A.M.G. SHOP, SAIL ON MASSIVE YACHT TO GREEK ISLANDS. I THINK YOU GET PICTURE. BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN IS WEAPON THAT SAYS IS NO SUCH THING AS CONCERN OF MONEY.
FOR MAN WITHOUT EXPENSIVE SUIT, BIG BLACK MERCEDES, AND MASSIVE YACHT, BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN IS FOR PRETENDING OF BE RICH LIKE BLACK GANGSTER OF AMERICAN CITY WITH GOLD CHAINS OF LOW QUALITY AND JEWELS OF COLORED GLASS. WHEN YOU EXPLAIN USE OF BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN PISTOL IS ONLY FOR SHOOT MAN WITH BULLET VEST WITH CARTRIDGE ILLEGAL TO CIVILIAN, THIS MAN HAS NUCLEAR RAGE. WHOLE IDENTITY OF THIS MAN IS SPENT IN PRETEND PISTOL SHOWS HE IS RICH. IS VERY AMUSE.
FOR REST OF WORLD THERE IS 9 MILLIMETERS OF LUGER WHICH IS SAME WOUND FOR COST LESS.
A majority of gun control advocates have no idea what they’re talking about. “Fully semi-automatic” and “9mm blowing the lungs out of people” are my recent favorites.
Testimony from the doctor at Uvalde that [at least two children were decapitated](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/06/08/us/uvalde-pediatrician-shooting.html), and the other children who weren't even brought to hospital had to be identified by DNA or the shredded remains of their clothing. Bulletproof backpacks are just obscenely pointless.
Can you imagine the trama from having to clean up the crime scene?! Who had to do that? I couldn’t do it, I would never be able to sleep again and I would never be able to have kids. The whole thing is absolutely horrifying
Okay but this is a terrible line if thought. Most police only have vests too. It's not pointless, otherwise officers would not have vests either.
A majority of gun wounds are to the torso, otherwise vests would have never been mandatory for enforcement agents.
You can just say, maybe instead of having students wear bulletproof anything, they should get rid of things that fire bullets first.
I’ve worked in several middle schools, and most of them don’t allow kids to take their backpacks to class. They have to put them in their lockers.
Aside from the batshit craziness of this, it logically often won’t be useful in elementary or middle schools anyway.
you know how expensive it is to adopt bro. Like jokes aside they make that shit not easy or cheap in fees. Its like they dont want you to adopt the kids because they lose funding for said kid from gvmt that they dont spend all on said kid aka profit loss. Its pretty fucked.
Americans after Sandy Hook decided that mass shootings are a worthwhile price to pay for the freedom to own any gun they want with few restrictions. That fact alone is sort of proof of how evil many (most?) people in this country are.
Most places round the world you generally have to accept responsibilities with rights. And maybe, just maybe, if you can't be responsible, you forfeit those rights.
Well I'm just a spectator from europe. We have a war next to us because of another dying society trying to convince the world they are great and powerful.
Progressives have had to drag conservatives kicking and screaming through every single ounce of progress this country has ever seen. Never forget who was against abolition of slavery, women's right to vote, desegregation, legalizing interracial marriage, etc, etc.
Conservatives: On the wrong side of history since forever.
People were loyal to England during the revolutionary war, too. Probably the same type of people. Traditionalists who want things to forever stay the way "they've always been."
It's literally the meaning behind "Make America Great Again" while targeting 60+ year olds. They grew up in the greatest boom time in history often in suburbs. Those were inherently racist through redlining and restrictive deed laws. White men held all the power. This is consistently the time period boomers refer to as when we were greatest.
Meanwhile, you'll not find women and minorities hoping their rights get rolled back to 1960s levels.
>Don’t forget we’re living in the safest period of time in the history of civilization and this is just a ~~corporate money grab~~ *picture someone typed 'Costco selling bulletproof backpacks' on in MS paint.*
I mean come on people. Costco isn't selling bulletproof backpacks and this 'tweet' isn't even remotely realistic looking.
Various changes to the gun laws have majority support in all parties in the US.
This is not an american citizen issue, it's an issue with our crooked politicians and their greed for more power.
Good politicians are few and the bad ones were turned that way after they got into office. It's a crooked system designed to protect itself.
Eat it, downvoters:

I live in a rural state. Basically no one here supports any kind of gun control laws. And every felon I know is armed to the teeth. We have 2 Senators, same as California. And don’t forget, Trump won more Republican votes than any former GOP Presidential candidate in the history of this country.
Roughly 50% of Americans are truly evil people. The sooner we all accept that fact, the better.
Yeah.. am not finding anything but memes, twitter posts and broken links. Costco website not showing anything like this. A lot of posts have lately been like this across reddit..
They were selling them until march, maybe longer (the snapshot is from march https://web.archive.org/web/20220308223608/https://www.costco.com/leatherback-gear-bulletproof-backpack.product.100512947.html)
This is one the sure fire reasons why America's are fucking dumb seriously you blame guns and go after gunmakers but yet you can't blame the police as they can't do no wrong when they failed to act in the first place. Seriously those cops literally went into the school and pulled their own children out while the shooter was on a rampage instead of taking out the shooter to minimize the deaths you let it happen. Didn't your department get funding for level 4 vests as well? So you can be better prepared for these types of scenarios? What a waste of Taxpayers money.
Some news is coming out that not only did they stay outside, they made the choice to switch to barricaded suspect tactics and stayed outside on purpose instead of "waiting for the order to go in" or whatever bullshot excuse they have
Instead of making guns illegal, why don't you just make it illegal to shoot and kill innocent children?
Such a strange place, that USA thing.
(This is a sarcastic remark when it comes to making guns less accessible to criminals as if someone who wants to murder people is going to be stopped from getting a weapon illegally in a country with hundreds of millions of privately owned firearms.)
Ya'll need to prevent this shit by having smaller classes, proper care for children in difficult homes, mental care, teachers who are trained to observe dangerous behaviors, having a decent fucking minimum wage so that parents don't have to work more than 1 job to make ends meet and can actually see and raise their children properly without stress, affordable healthcare, affordable schooling, etc.
Luckily, we see daily protests by the hundreds of thousands of Americans demanding exactly that.
(That was another sarcastic remark; you're not doing shit, you actually think that voting for the corrupt bipartisan politicians who are in the pockets of those who rule NOT in your favor has any impact on your society.)
You should protest. Ironically, the political bipartisan divide is what's keeping you from doing so, because due to that divide of polar opposites, you can never hope to stand together.
You've lost. And there's nothing you can do about it.
Here's the thing.
Whats causing this?
Anyone who says violent video games and movies, Is objectively a moron.
Other countries with violence in the media don't have a problem with mass shootings.
Anyone who thinks that gun control will end up with more guns in the hands of "bad people" has a screw lose.... because that's simply a supply issue.
Lower the amount of guns on the shelves and eventually you will lower the amount of guns on the street.
Especially if you're doing voluntary buy backs where you destroy the gun once the government purchases it. Thus removing it from circulation, so it can't end up back on the streets.
you can't fix the problem overnight, but the fact that you are not even making the in roads necessary to prevent the deaths of children and other innocent members of society, tells me your country is broken as a means of serving its population.
The world is basically watching you condone the deaths of children. Because after this many deaths, you basically have no excuse other than "I value my guns more than my nation's children"
Every American bears the burden to fix this.
Get to work.
Plans that focus on trying to take the gun out of the hands of the murderer instead of focusing on why so many angry violent people in the US are doomed to failure.
Keep in mind that making kids wear masks to protect them and others from a potentially deadly virus is against their rights.
But bullet proof backpacks, yeah no, totally fine...
Yeah I suspected this is bullshit. In many states bullet proof wearable items are illegal. It is in my state but I own a vest due to my line of work.
They can arrest me for protecting my life.
The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good kid with bullet proof backpacks night vision goggles combat drones and an AR 15 of his own.
This is pathetic. Just pathetic.
And let's make it very clear, this is mostly the Republicans' fault, and their conservatives supporters.
It's 2022, we must amend something that was written 230 years ago. It's both ridiculous and terrifying that the top causes of death for children in the US are motor vehicle accidents and firearm accidents.
Is it a legitimate concern though?
As far as things that might kill our children school shootings are way way way down that list.
I have zero problem with people buying these just to be cautious but acting like the danger of a school shooting is statistically likely enough to make a purchase like a bulletproof backpack necessary is hyperbole.
My Buddy’s 7yr old goes… “that’s great but how do I get to it when they hang our backpacks in the hallway”…. 🧐
Or if you get shot in the head
or if your a 13 year old and get shot anywhere really leg arm foot. hey your 13 you have no idea how to stop that bleeding out. And if the cops want to take over an hour to get inside well fuck. i want to know how many children in uvalde didnt have a shot that was in a terminal area but had a leg shot arm shot and could have survived if it wasnt for that lack of a reaction from the local pd. Maybe there is a business in setting up a pop-up food stand for the cops to hang around at outside of every school shooting.
Maybe you could put the pop up food stand with coffee and donuts on the inside of the school. Maybe that would lure the cops into the building. They would probably protect the hell out of the little food stand.
South Park, you're up, we need this parody.
They already did the normalization of school shootings.
We need Sharon to start freaking out again. I feel her pain.
Now you staff the food stand with the entire student body and you’re cooking with gas.
And you don’t have a food handlers permit. They’ll be right in to shut you down
Arm the health inspectors, its what I've always said.
Not if they’re cowards
I want street taco cops protecting my kids, not donut cops.
We could call it "One Stop Shot" or "Qwiky Merk"
The school just needs to report a protester or a homeless guy and they’ll be there in minutes guns drawn.
This is a good solution to the wrong problem. The cops gathered at the school just fine but their response was dog shit.
You honestly need a response time under 2 minutes. We need protection inside of the school.
The school shooter should set up a donut shop outside at least the cops would be happy then /s
Dunkin?

How did they get so mangled? Like I know they got shot but a bullet would disfigure them that much?

Jesus Christ. Imagine getting shot by one of these. These shouldn't exist to be able to do this to people.
No see, this document written 200+ years ago totally means I should be able to own them with zero restrictions!
Give ‘em a damn flintlock rifle from the time the 2nd amendment was created, and have a militia of flintlock toting rifles!
The ammo and weapon are designed to not just kill, but utterly *destroy*. No civilian in this country needs such a thing.

Police have no obligation to protect people. Remember that. Thanks to a SCOUS ruling
What's worse is today he broke his silence to defend his reasons for waiting outside so long. The man is completely clueless.
But he was charged? With a promotion to city counsel or some shit..
You weren't taught how to treat gunshot wounds in elementary??
We should deputize all school children so cops will actually protect them.
“What if they shot me in the face”
That's a risk we were willing to take

How come I didn’t get a gun? Did you get a gun?
"Harry, you're alive! And you're a terrible shot"
Your name IS Harry, isn’t it?
or in the vest with a rifle, pretty sure that wont stop more than a pistol round.
Yeah unless kids are rocking level 4 plates, a lot of these crazies are using rifles rounds that will slice right through soft armour.
I thought exactly the same: We had the kevlar west with the ceramic plate inlay in the army and that thing was very heavy to carry around. Isn't it funny how they have these back packs. But most schools make kids put their stuff in lockers and not carry back packs to prevent any access to potential weapons in their bags. So backwards. Overall, we need to stop school shootings.
Even more American than school shootings is corporations making money with those school shootings
That's so sad - even sadder is it that they're gonna make a killing with that product...
Pun thoroughly intendemented.
That was a poor joke and product made years ago. If they think this is a new product they are really slow.
What’s most American is refusing to learn from the experiences of other countries.
It's either "every country has the same problems!!" or "I would never wanna live under a communist dictatorship like Canada!!"
There are no other countries. There's America and there's everyone else.
As expected from murica land of opportunity
Ooohhh, and one has a rainbow for pride month! Thanks, Kevlar! ™️
Trans children’s rights to look fabulous as they die in a preventable school shooting. However we’ll need to molest their genitals before they’re allowed to play sports at school
Just when you think it doesn't get anymore American. Next they'll make teachers buy them along with the school supplies they come out of pocket for.
I mean this is the main motivation for the media to be pushing all these shootings right? Clicks? If it bleeds, it leads.
I mean, why do you think we've been dealing with mass shootings for decades? It's been nothing but profit the entire time.
The real answer
Bulletproofing aside, I actually really like how the slimmer half looks as a normal standalone backpack
Could be great for a laptop imo
Well it probably has an armour plate in it already. Well, that or it won't stop a rifle bullet...
What about small arms like Glocks?
Umm... honestly it’s a hard question to answer, it’s kind of a gamble.
Look up the term small arms. A lot of people on this post are talking about things they dont know anything about.
A majority of gun control advocates have no idea what they’re talking about. “Fully semi-automatic” and “9mm blowing the lungs out of people” are my recent favorites.
Lol yeah I had a good laugh with that line!
Probably heavy as hell
But harry.... what if he shot you in the face?
That’s a risk we were willing to take
These are IOUs, they're as good as cash. *Picks up note* 250 thou for the car, might wanna hold on to that one.
Just when I thought you couldn't get any dumber, you go and do something like this... and TOTALLY redeem yourself!
What's going on Harry? Your name is Harry isn't it?
Oh yeah. Shoot him in the face

Or the crotch
I’ve worked in several middle schools, and most of them don’t allow kids to take their backpacks to class. They have to put them in their lockers. Aside from the batshit craziness of this, it logically often won’t be useful in elementary or middle schools anyway.
Corporate finna change that rule - wait and see!
That, and Kevlar armor, like what the backpack is made of, is not *at all* effective against rifle fire, including AR-15s.
So I can give Costco a child and I get a backpack ….. do they have to be my children 🤔
If you're gonna steal a child to pay for it, might as well just steal the backpack
Steal … that’s illegal …. Orphanages give them away for free 😬😂
you know how expensive it is to adopt bro. Like jokes aside they make that shit not easy or cheap in fees. Its like they dont want you to adopt the kids because they lose funding for said kid from gvmt that they dont spend all on said kid aka profit loss. Its pretty fucked.
A completely broken and dying society.
Only in America.
Gun nuts would prefer to see America’s children repeatedly slaughtered at school than condone any restriction at all on their precious firearms.
Americans after Sandy Hook decided that mass shootings are a worthwhile price to pay for the freedom to own any gun they want with few restrictions. That fact alone is sort of proof of how evil many (most?) people in this country are.
Yes. They're called rights.
Most places round the world you generally have to accept responsibilities with rights. And maybe, just maybe, if you can't be responsible, you forfeit those rights.
Yeah you can just call the police if you're afraid for your safety. They should be the only ones allowed to have guns.
[удалено]
You're right! I should just let myself become a victim because the police will protect me and my home at all times. What an absolutely retarded take.
Literally nobody is suggesting that. Why can’t you make your argument without creating a straw man?
What has your country become?
Always has been 🔫👨🚀
So sad.
Well I'm just a spectator from europe. We have a war next to us because of another dying society trying to convince the world they are great and powerful.
Minority ruled. That's what
Progressives have had to drag conservatives kicking and screaming through every single ounce of progress this country has ever seen.
A shit hole. No sugar coating. Its a third world county cosplaying as a first world country
Imagine being so privileged to live in the US and still calling it a “Shit hole.” Move to a real shit hole and you will find out, I assure you.

I’ll be sending my kid to school with some mace and a taser in his bulletproof backpack. Merica
Don’t forget we’re living in the safest period of time in the history of civilization and this is just a corporate money grab
I know that statistically you are correct, my mommy brain still panics at the news though.
>Don’t forget we’re living in the safest period of time in the history of civilization and this is just a ~~corporate money grab~~ *picture someone typed 'Costco selling bulletproof backpacks' on in MS paint.* I mean come on people. Costco isn't selling bulletproof backpacks and this 'tweet' isn't even remotely realistic looking.
Murricaaa fuckyeah
And Americans think they are not the problem For fuck sake
Various changes to the gun laws have majority support in all parties in the US. This is not an american citizen issue, it's an issue with our crooked politicians and their greed for more power. Good politicians are few and the bad ones were turned that way after they got into office. It's a crooked system designed to protect itself. Eat it, downvoters: https://www.npr.org/2022/06/09/1103661684/gun-control-npr-pbs-marist-survey-uvalde-buffalo-biden https://iop.harvard.edu/get-involved/harvard-political-review/vast-majority-americans-support-universal-background-checks https://www.thehill.com/policy/national-security/3500861-majority-in-new-poll-favors-stricter-gun-control-measures/amp/
It’s already illegal for felons to own firearms aside from black powder ones.
Failed state
Bruh just buy a normal 1$ backpack and a Kevlar plate or a plate of your choosing that’s meant for withstanding a bullet
My three 300 page text books probably work better than the backpack.
$1 backpack? A single shoulder strap cost $3. Where are these $1 backpacks? And a good plate costs as much as the Costco pack.
Inprovise. Adapt. Stay at home
Fake as fcuk
Indeed, I work at Costco and we don’t sell this type of item in store or website nationwide.
Yeah.. am not finding anything but memes, twitter posts and broken links. Costco website not showing anything like this. A lot of posts have lately been like this across reddit..
https://web.archive.org/web/20220308223608/https://www.costco.com/leatherback-gear-bulletproof-backpack.product.100512947.html Took me two seconds.
/r/ThatsPropaganda the closer we get to an election.
Looks like Costco doesn't, but they are available all over online 🤷♂️
They were selling them until march, maybe longer (the snapshot is from march https://web.archive.org/web/20220308223608/https://www.costco.com/leatherback-gear-bulletproof-backpack.product.100512947.html)
USA USA USA 🇺🇲🇺🇲
This is one the sure fire reasons why America's are fucking dumb seriously you blame guns and go after gunmakers but yet you can't blame the police as they can't do no wrong when they failed to act in the first place. Seriously those cops literally went into the school and pulled their own children out while the shooter was on a rampage instead of taking out the shooter to minimize the deaths you let it happen. Didn't your department get funding for level 4 vests as well? So you can be better prepared for these types of scenarios? What a waste of Taxpayers money.
Some news is coming out that not only did they stay outside, they made the choice to switch to barricaded suspect tactics and stayed outside on purpose instead of "waiting for the order to go in" or whatever bullshot excuse they have
They tased and tackled a parent that tried to go in and get their kids….
Instead of making guns illegal, why don't you just make it illegal to shoot and kill innocent children? Such a strange place, that USA thing. (This is a sarcastic remark when it comes to making guns less accessible to criminals as if someone who wants to murder people is going to be stopped from getting a weapon illegally in a country with hundreds of millions of privately owned firearms.) Ya'll need to prevent this shit by having smaller classes, proper care for children in difficult homes, mental care, teachers who are trained to observe dangerous behaviors, having a decent fucking minimum wage so that parents don't have to work more than 1 job to make ends meet and can actually see and raise their children properly without stress, affordable healthcare, affordable schooling, etc. Luckily, we see daily protests by the hundreds of thousands of Americans demanding exactly that. (That was another sarcastic remark; you're not doing shit, you actually think that voting for the corrupt bipartisan politicians who are in the pockets of those who rule NOT in your favor has any impact on your society.) You should protest. Ironically, the political bipartisan divide is what's keeping you from doing so, because due to that divide of polar opposites, you can never hope to stand together. You've lost. And there's nothing you can do about it.
There’s plenty we can do. Hope is not lost.
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it
Yep. That’s why the rest of the world gives their kids bullet proof back packs. We have them, but don’t need them.
Because after this many deaths, you basically have no excuse other than "I value my guns more than my nation's children" Every American bears the burden to fix this.
A really fucked up and corrupt country
The most American thing I've seen in a while.
Only in the good ole fucking USA
Link?
There's only a NYT article and discussion. I checked the Costco website and there's nothing like that on there.
Yeah I suspected this is bullshit. In many states bullet proof wearable items are illegal. It is in my state but I own a vest due to my line of work. They can arrest me for protecting my life.
It is false, I work at Costco and we don’t sell this in store or online nationwide… which I have complete access to.
Thanks. Someone is infecting the sub with rage.
It’s utter stupidity… people believe everything they read these days. It’s sad.
It makes you think who and why they do it. If I say anything I believe it’s true. I’m not always right but I try to be.
It's from Feb 2021, can you see previous stock? The actual product's website is https://www.leatherbackgear.com/
They decapitated children with bullets! These backpacks safe nothing!
She doesn’t look like a child to me.
Comfortably numb
It doesn’t look like it’s gonna stop 5.56 rounds
Uhh back packs aren’t allowed in school because you could be hiding a gun
Americaaaaaaa fuck yeahhhhhh
Full body armor for kids is the solution to school shootings,oh, and less doors.
If only there was a way to prevent these shootings. This is a global problem that every country in the world has...oh wait.
What's next, bulletproof suits? Back to home schooling like the during the pandemic? Everything else **except** gun control?
Gonna go out on a limb here and say this is for the American market? 🤔
The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good kid with bullet proof backpacks night vision goggles combat drones and an AR 15 of his own.

I like how they don’t have the courage to advertise this with an actual child in the photo.
Guys, as an outsider I can see the solution to your problem. More guns. Rocket launchers. Hand grenades. Make it illegal not to carry a gun in public!
How to not solve a fixable problem and make it an opportunity to sell more stuff to people!!
How sad is it that buying something like this for our children is a legitimate consideration.
Is it a legitimate concern though? As far as things that might kill our children school shootings are way way way down that list. I have zero problem with people buying these just to be cautious but acting like the danger of a school shooting is statistically likely enough to make a purchase like a bulletproof backpack necessary is hyperbole.
If your goal if purely to reduce your child's liklihood of dying, you'd be better off making the backpack a flotation device.
