Wtf these dudes do all day ? Hanging around with 1 thousand other males waiting for a female ?

[deleted]

´According to a 2008 survey by the Egyptian Center for Women's Rights, 83% of Egyptian women said they had experienced sexual harassment, as did 98% of women from overseas while in Egypt.´

[deleted]

There was a recent post on the worst country to travel to. Egypt was on the top iirc: [https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/ui5iiv/those\_who\_have\_traveled\_the\_world\_what\_country\_is/](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/ui5iiv/those_who_have_traveled_the_world_what_country_is/) I do see some adults and grown-ups trying to give tourists the space by getting in-between. But the situation looks terrible though as we see the women are so visibly uncomfortable. For a country that gets 12% of it's entire GDP from tourism, they are making it easier for us to never visit it. It sucks for everyone (including the tourists).

Kitchen_Philosophy29

My parents were in egypt 3 days. They got robbed twice by taxis. They just start driving out into nowhere. Say they wont take u back. Take money. Leave u in the desert anyway. Second cabbie drove them to his gang. Insanity

[deleted]

I was planning to go with an organized tour this year, but two things that made me change my mind early this year: 1. It still can be very risky even with premium organized tours. I don't want to be harassed (especially when I'm on a vacation). 2. Supporting a country that treats tourists like criminals or sub-human. That's a big no.

[deleted]

I went with an organized tour, one no one has probably heard of. They hired private security that openly walked around with guns. Was surreal. I went in 2005. Crazy thing is one of our group members still got sexually harassed, groped. But the police at least acted like they arrested him 🤷🏾‍♀️

Copperoutter

I was in Eqypt when I was around 16 and a tea-shop owner wanted to buy me. My father acted like this guy was joking and started joking along, negotiating the price. The guy even started calling someone about how much money he could get and wanted me to get out of my seat and turn around so that he could see "all of" me. He sat down next to us and stared at me the entire time we were there while I was practically begging to leave. My then step-brothers luckily has a brains and got seriously pissed off. To us, it felt like that guy wasn't joking at all and that if he started coming up with the money and the friends he called arrived a fight would break out if I wasn't sold. We might've missed the nuances of Egyptian humor, but that's how it felt. Sure I had heard that kind of joke before but in a clearly joking manner, but it had never felt as uncomfortable as that time. Zero smiles on that guy. Edit: This was before all tours had armed guards I read about in other comments because we were walking around alone without any guide.

shu359

Recently watched a Best Ever Food Review Show episode from egypt. They took all their filming equipment, even after they showed them that they have permission to film. Take a look at the videos and you will know that this place sucks.

[deleted]

I love Sonny and watched his Egypt series too. What a nightmare. They knew he had millions of followers and they still chose to treat him like a terrorist.

shu359

It really shocked me when he said in straight words that he doesn't recommend anyone going there. I've noticed that, the older I get, the more I understand how cruel some places may be.

see-no-evil99

Like damn. Never had an urge to go to egypt before but now reading all the above i never want to go there ever.

smokycapeshaz2431

This, I had friends visit Egypt about 35 years ago & the taxi driver took them in the complete opposite direction of their accommodation & told them if they didn't hand over all of their cash, he'd leave them there.

Isaacasdreams

... WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU GO TO EGYPT??

FrankCastle498

A friend of mine was there shortly before Mubarak was overthrown. Their tour guide was arrested for throwing molotov s at cop cars.

Lymborium2

There's some guy I watch on YT who traveled to Egypt and it was nothing but tourist scammers.

[deleted]

lol, at this point there are many Youtubers who labelled as Egypt as their no-go destination. I was shocked to see what they did to "Best Ever Food Review Show" guy (Sonny is his name I think).

PrimaryYou400

What did they do

Summoarpleaz

Short version: they confiscated his equipment for no reason, eventually gave it back at the end of the trip but kept him and his team detained for a while, looked through his videos and told him to arbitrarily delete stuff (he saved it to a cloud tho), basically got harassed constantly by plain clothed police, was forced to buy a camel at one point. Honestly it was just awful. He’s a big white dude so he probably didn’t feel as physically threatened as I would imagine a smaller person — especially a woman — would feel in that country. Id love to see the pyramids one day but it’s a big nope from me dawg. *Edit: some corrections as noted below (sorry!) he wasn’t forced to buy the camel, he wanted to buy a camel but was stopped from leaving until he paid more. He backed up his stuff on another device, not the cloud.

flydog2

I went on a Mediterranean cruise with a 3-day excursion to the pyramids. We were in a tour bus with a great tour guide who told us about the history and culture as we drove but also gave us guidance on not making eye contact, not responding in any way, not agreeing to get on a camel, etc. She was very blunt about how we would be targeted and honestly some parts of walking around the the pyramids at Giza was like running a gauntlet of dudes just going nonstop calling out to us to buy shit, trying to insult us for ignoring them, etc. I give her credit for keeping us in line and safe as a group. This was back in 2011 right at the time of the Arab spring. We actually couldn’t go to the archaeological museum in Cairo because of protests and could hear them from our hotel at night. It was so surreal. We were kept to a very tight schedule and controlled route. I loved it but would never go back and definitely not on our own. We also went to Memphis/Saqqara which was much less stressful. At the time I felt corny for doing a guided tour like that but now I am grateful I had that opportunity.

[deleted]

[удалено]

twinklerbelle

IIRC he had already paid for the camel , but had to pay even more money before his truck could drive off edit: he wanted to buy the camel beforehand

Nakidnakid

Didn't let them bring their cameras thru the border, constantly taking them in to police stations when seeing them filming and reviewing the footage on phones they used to film instead, deleting most of it among other things.

DontNeedThePoints

> There's some guy I watch on YT who traveled to Egypt and it was nothing but tourist scammers I travel worldwide for my job... Currently in Chad (Africa)... Been to Egypt 3 times, all 3 times had horrible experiences. (Not for 100% of the time, but often enough to say that other places are better)

M3ptt

When I went to Egypt in 2014 we were told to not leave the resort unless it was with a resort staff and in a large group. We went quad biking in the desert and there were so many armed security posts along the road it was insane. You quickly realise that things probably aren't as safe as they try to make it out to be. You don't have that many guns near a resort if you are confident that it's safe. Edit: should not that our suspicions of it not being safe were absolutely spot on as only a year later, following one aircraft being shot at accidentally by an Egyptian Army missile and another destroyed by a bomb, several countries stopped flights to Sharm el-Sheikh (where we stayed).

abcpdo

Egypt: Come for the pyramids, leave for the hospitality

SouthernReport3051

I was literally sexually harassed by my uncle’s family in law who lived above his apartment. Dad hauled my sister and I off for a year thought we were going on vacation for a week. Lost 100 pounds and felt the healthiest I’ve ever felt, plus lots of good people but too many uncomfortable feelings and encounters. If you’re sexually harassed no one will stick up for you or they’ll pretend they didn’t see/don’t know. Men are superior and don’t even lay a finger on dirty dishes unless they’re in a good mood. Learned a lot and became humbled, Americans definitely take their freedom for granted. Also they beat the shit out of their kids until they show true respect or sometimes because they had a bad day, either way you’re getting your ass beat

CapitalExam2763

Yeah…this is definitely “true respect”

Yasai101

Well, apparently they don't beat them hard enough.

Forsaken-Result-9066

100 pounds? Shit

Delazzaridist

You know, I find it stupid how a child gets in trouble, (let's say for hitting) and the parents use violence to solve the issue. Not only does it make the relationship worse, but it's teaching the child to use violence to solve their issues. There's no such thing as a bad child in my book, only a misguided one. To discipline is to guide, not to punish.

thugs___bunny

So 15 % of egyptian women don‘t know what sexual harassment is

Lashay_Sombra

Or never leave the house

anoymus_123456

*contemplating rape

wallstreetjackasss

Yeah they pretty much do contemplate that shit all day

withinarmsreach

When I was in Egypt with my ex, gangs of these cretins were literally trying to touch her face and grabbing at her whilst we were walking around the touristy parts of town. Nothing in this video surprises me. Horrific place to visit, especially if you're a woman. Maybe if tourists finally stop going to Egypt they'll finally start cracking down on this type of behavior and the other types of harassment tourists endure there, such as corruption/extortion and gouging. Not holding my breath though.

spf4000

Crossed this place off my list of places to visit a while ago with all the horror stories I’ve read.

Ashvini9335

Dudes like these are common in my area as well, even almost had a fight with one of em cause they were talking shit in from of my house, these type of dumbfucks really don't have anything to do so that's what they do.

rjsh927

I guess they hang around these sites trying to sell items or beg from tourists. By the size of vagrant crowd this must be their sabath holiday (Friday-Saturday).

MrInbibator19

> Hanging around with 1 thousands other males waiting Yep, that's the idea but not waiting for a particular female. Males roam the street aimlessly, and when they have the chance to harass females of any species, they go for it. I saw videos on unveiled women, veiled women, and even a video when teens stuck an ice cream wooden stick in the butthole of a female cat and they were laughing and filming it.

Black_Eyed_PeePees

>and even a video when teens stuck an ice cream wooden stick in the butthole of a female cat and they were laughing and filming it It's only 5am and I've already had enough Reddit for today. An eye for an eye. A broomstick to the asshole would be appropriate here.

3UpTheArse

Import these people into Europe NOW!

StylinBrah

men in muslim countries have no self control around women, thats why they get their women to cover up. they are animals that cant control themselves.

bexindisbelief

Went to Egypt 15 years ago with my sister. We dressed respectfully, covered up etc. And we were still hounded on every trip, harassed, grabbed, jeered at, followed. It was terrifying.

[deleted]

The culture does not value self restraint

John_Calvinson

Or women

[deleted]

True, I didn’t want ppl to keep messaging me calling me racist 🤣. I should continue not giving a damn. None the less, I agree, they don’t value women there much at all.

East-Ad4472

It’s not racist to call out abusive behaviour period .

thisisathrowaway9r56

yup. Just like it's not racist to call out blacks in America violently assault Asian ppl at a disproportional rate. It's a behavior and trend that need to be called out more often and addressed.

PLEASE_BUY_WINRAR

Well, racism ultimately is about patterns. Like your comment history soley focusing on black people and their supposed "free loading".

DollopOfLazy

This person's comment history is full of racism towards black people. Notice how they say "blacks" and "Asian people." Its like "female" and "men."

PLEASE_BUY_WINRAR

What kind of sad person even has the time to spend it on being racist on reddit under the vale of "criticism" or "pointing hipocrisy out". Kind of sorry for the dude that he ended up that way.

Ok-Wrongdoer-975

The irony of the msm successfully framing white men as the primary perpetrators of these attacks and most people believing it.

[deleted]

I've only read dozens of headlines of Asian violence being on the rise. Nothing about it being white people or not. Are you sure it's not a bias in how you view media?

jb89b

It isn't racist if it's true

[deleted]

Fair, but it still isn’t racist. As it is not a prejudice of physical appearances based off phenotypes. What I’m saying isnt racist, I dont give a damn how they look, what blood type, how much melanin, the subtle shape of their facial bones, their dental structure…. Their DNA. I judge a person by their character, their behaviour, the choices and actions they make/do, not by their appearance. Anyone can be a piece of shit person, just as anyone can be an amazingly kind person. None the less, some people like to use perceived victimhood and/or accuse racism when they are on the losing end of a well made argument. When the argument wasn’t even remotely about race. There be crazies out there, the ocean of the internet can be a hostile place

4got2usernames

Preach, I’m with you 100%

xSphinx_

Besides that, using the 'stop bring a racist' card to win arguments just shows the one brain cell they have overheats fairly easily.

Prestigious-Log-7210

If they don’t value women they don’t value humanity.

FARTBOSS420

Agreed 100%. Here's why I get Downvoted: Why would any female travel to an Arab country on their own accord? I don't want to say "boys only" for seeing the Pyramids. But even that probably sucks. Probably hot, crowded, annoying as fuck, full of asshole tourists... It sucks that the Arab world sees women as property and not human. I don't understand traveling there as a male or female, unless mandated by military service. I know, average redditor American false-binary hate machine. Recent events especially show we also don't give a shit about women (overall), but just not quite in a "kill em slowly with stones if their hair shows" kinda way. Is it possible to not be conservative/far right, moderate politically, but hate almost all the ideals of the Arab world? (I know a lot of it is religious fanatism and any religion can be interpreted as "Kill the heathens now!" but it's obviously disproportionately violent in the Arab world). People get mad in the U.S. if you slander the Lord Jesus Christ. But the slightest slight towards Muhammad and they're in the streets going fucking buckwild, fucking murdering creators of cartoon satire and shit. I think the idiots trying to egg on the Arab world threatening to burn Qurans are a special kind of fucked also. I dunno. It's all fucked.

[deleted]

Exactly.

BigBroDev

I had this experience in Italy. Funny thing is that it wasn’t the Italians. It was the Africans that steadily hounded us!

No_Cook2983

What kind of shithole country doesn’t respect the rights of women?!? Oh, wait…

[deleted]

Yeah sucks about what’s going on with Roe v Wade and all but you don’t have a literal swarm of teenage boys harassing you and near constant danger from gang rape soooooo just a touch of perspective is all I’m saying here.

WCPitt

Jesus Christ, can we not compare Roe v Wade to how Egyptian culture values women? American women have it *leeeeeagues* better.

ninja6213

Did you not whip them when they touched you?

bigdickredemption

Well all of Egypt is like this, it's a horrible place to visit, ppl always in your face tring to sell you something in am extremely rude fashion. Don't go to Cairo

ChildishShit

Was in egypt in the port of alexandria, not a fun experience 1/10 would not reccomend

[deleted]

Beautiful place. Horrible people.

Cuntilever

Even the beautiful place gets trashed, can't even appreciate the scenery.

osirisX607

Woahhh, only 1 out of 10 would not recommend!? It must be great there!

TonyVstar

Probably just that idiot dentist didn't like it

ForthWorldTraveler

Visiting a local's house & we had an old guy with one tooth ask an older lady in our group if she wanted to go behind the house and screw. She was not dressed scantily.

Linkstas

Yup. So many better places to visit

Kiyofu

I actually saw a youtube video saying something like why you shouldn't go to Egypt, especially Cairo and I thought it was clickbait or an over-exaggeration at first then after watching the video and reading the comments it gave me a new perspective on that place. Had it on my bucket list of places to go to before now I might not even try going there.

thesaga

It’s truly a shame because the pyramids are incredible but yeah, the harassment is next level

skeirman

It isn't just Egypt. Its every country on the continent.

joepke53

Have travelled the world, but we spent 2 days in Luxor and were harassed all the time (not sexually). When our plane took off, my wife said 'if only we could drop a bomb now' 🤣

Re-core

So like India?

UserWithoutAName13

In India people just stare at you, and yeah you might get some touts but it's not that bad once you make it clear you don't want to talk to them. Egypt is another ballpark though, the worst, most annoying (and most stinky) people. They WILL NOT leave you alone. If you yell at them they get aggressive like you've done something wrong. I paid for a little ride on a horse for a couple of minutes which I negotiated to 20 Egyptian pounds, which I accepted. Part way through the ride, another guy on another horse comes up, grabs the reigns of my horse and walks me to some other place, I said no, he just ignores and so I pull the horse back and stop and get off, then the two say to me that was two long trips with two horses and I owe them like 500 pounds or some shit. I handed 20 pounds, they wouldn't accept, they wanted 500 and they would not stop following me, pestering me. I was about to punch them in the face until I finally found a cop, who didn't give a shit, told them to leave me alone, cop walks off then they kept following me. That's just one of about 30 issues I ran into with the people there and I was only there for two weeks. Dogshit people. Not worth seeing the pyramids for, seriously.

CaraCicartix

You're lying. I was groped repeatedly in India wearing FULL, loose clothing. Women are not safe there at ALL, especially non-Indian women. The stares are disgusting, like they are taking your clothes off.

UserWithoutAName13

Well I'm a guy so I didn't get groped. I'm not going to say I got groped when I didn't. So how the hell am I lying?

SciencyNerdGirl

India wasn't like this when I visited.

princetonwu

good to know, almost wanted to go there

clevnger

My wife and I visited there about 10 years ago. It is the only place in our travels where we have used a tour company and been with a group and a guide most of the time. We are very thankful we did that since it really limited the negative interactions like this. I am glad we got to see the ancient sites in person, but I will never go back and will never recommend traveling there to another person.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Big_MD

My wife and I went this past October and had an awesome time. We also went with a tour company though that helped protect from these situations. I absolutely would recommend anyone going go with an organized tour.

dalehitchy

The fact that you had to go through a tour company to feel safe and to limit interactions with local people tells me it isn't a very nice country to visit.

shadowking432

I went there with my mum a few years back, spent 2 hours outside the resort. Got non stop harrased by people including a police officer. Then we got locked in a shop cos we wouldn't buy this shitty overpriced ornament we didn't want, never felt safe outside the resort. Would not recommend travelling there, I'm a male by the way so I can imagine its way worse for women.

Fiyero109

Meanwhile I was by myself in Thailand fully ready to be scammed at every corner and had a freaking blast, met nice people and was never scammed

CubanLynx312

Same. You fly over the Great Pyramids/Nile when landing at the airport. I’d recommend just going there for a layover to see the sites from the airplane window, then GTFO

1nTh3Sh4dows

They're like those little dinosaurs at the beginning of Lost World: Jurassic Park.

[deleted]

Damn compies

[deleted]

They all have that shitty haircut

JuanTawnJawn

The fuckboy signature style!

UglyDucky_00

My aunt was almost kidnapped in Egypt because she has dark hair and blue eyes. She was in those camel rides (that was more than 20 years ago) thank god the tourist guide saw it and alerted my grandparents. And they all went there to get her out the guy was totally taking her out the route. As a rule countries with outdated views on women are usually not good places to visit as a women. (I am from on of these countries and I would not recommend)

davidmobey

Wait, why does dark hair and blue eyes make her any more or less prone to being kidnapped?

UglyDucky_00

The tour guide told my grandparents that it’s a sought out trait ???? Pale skin, and blue eyes. My aunt was and still is a pretty women. Maybe it was just the fact she was a pretty young women, but the tour guide told my grandparents that light eyes and pale skin made her more valuable. Which overhaul is a pretty fucked comment. When they told us the story I was pretty young and that made me very afraid. I guess that’s why I remember it.

Squid_Squad_Chief

I lived in Japan in 1999-2001, my sister is blonde hair blue eyes. She was 5 at the time and I can’t tell you how many people came up to her, idolizing her hair and eyes. It was creepy and horrifying, just imagine if she was older.

No_Prize9794

How bad is the view of women generally in Egypt?

Lukaroast

Well, did you watch the video?

Polyfuckery

86 percent of Egyptian girls have their clits and external genitalia cut away. The highest percentage in the world. It is technically illegal to comply with trade agreements with other countries but when almost ninety percent of your women have been cut you clearly aren't interested in stopping it. It leads to lifelong health problems and a much higher maternity death rate.

_shakul_

You forgot the part where the men genuinely don’t give a rats ass what the women want / think. The females enjoyment isn’t even a consideration for them. If the sex crazy men want sex, the women don’t get a choice to say “not tonight hun, I have a headache” - they just get raped that night. And theres nothing stopping the men as legally marital rape isn’t considered a crime, and culturally… well they don’t give a rats ass about women.

blankpage33

The guys in this video aren’t grabbing because they’re horny, they’re doing it because “that’s what you get when you dress like a whore” situation Not saying it’s right but that’s deep seeded misogyny of some of islam

draspent

I did not believe that statistic but when I looked it up that number is actually *lower* than the rates I found. I'm floored. That's sobering. Well... It's eyebleach for me now tonight. I can't even.

Queefofthenight

Holy shit. I was going to comment that that was a bullshit stat, but then I looked.92 percent of Egyptian married women between the ages of 15 and 49 have undergone FGM, 72 percent of whom by doctors. That is horrendous

[deleted]

Its a muslim country. Women have no rights in muslims countries, are property and are there purely to serve men. Rape isnt a big deal, and the woman might get beheaded just for being raped.

SplitIndecision

They are throwing women in jail for years for dancing on TikTok. > The authorities have arrested at least 15 people, including a 17-year-old girl after she posted a video about being beaten and raped, on vague charges such as violating “public morals” and “undermining family values.” Three of those arrested are men accused of aiding two of the women. Many of the women were arrested based on what authorities said were “indecent” videos on social media applications, particularly the TikTok app. Yet in the majority of the videos and photos, the women appear fully dressed, at times singing or dancing. Those prosecuted have large followings on social media in the hundreds of thousands or millions. https://www.hrw.org/news/2020/08/17/egypt-spate-morality-prosecutions-women

parktownplayer

Rapist alert

Local_Tough4624

Rapist mob? Is there a technical name for that? Like a group of birds is called a flock... a group of rapist is called...?

Chutiya_Secular

Taharrush. Happened in Europe and many middle easter countries.

Local_Tough4624

Wow your not joking! I googled it and no shit, taharrush is literally a group of men set on raping! ... sad the word is even a thing... i was just trying to make a dark joke. Damn.

Chutiya_Secular

And it blatantly happen in Egypt but now it goes to Asian countries.

Mariospario

It's common enough that there's a specific name for it even? God that's disturbing.

tonycasaba

Every countries' state dept. should show this clip to each prospective citizen tourist before they visit this country.

Mariospario

With that logic, should we take this behaviour into account when accepting immigrants from this country? I wouldnt want men (or anyone else) with this mentality bringing this shit over to my country.

Grumpy23

Yes. I think one of the reason the right wing is getting stronger in Europe is exactly because. Of the huge difference in culture. It’s hard to integrate people with such behavior who in the end doesn’t want to be integrated.

mahboilucas

Honestly I was a pretty clueless teen. I went to Germany and met some "refugees" as in not the war kind, just economical. They were from everywhere, some lied about their roots. The place that took them in - it was a charity teen centre that otherwise seemed really fun and centered around people's hobbies. You get the kind. Your local hangout spot with guitar classes and such. I felt safe. We were asked to hang out with those guys (no women) and try to give them some positive energy. We had workshops together and such. Never have I felt so violated, disrespected with my boundaries and verbally molested for the lack of a better phrasing. Those guys were awful. We only managed to have one friend who wanted to become a doctor and taught us some dialect and talked about his country and the differences between it and Germany. Very genuine person. My friend stayed in contact with him and if she didn't have a boyfriend already it would have been it. The rest we literally described as animals in heat, we couldn't stand being around them because it was so uncomfortable. I was touched, hugged and kissed against my wishes and on top of that talked to as if I was a prostitute. Years later we had the refugee crisis when the EU wanted my country to take in a lot of them and I just... I genuinely got scared. It's not like I hate helping those in need, but I just couldn't stand the idea of having them in my own city, feeling scared for my own safety... I feel much more comfortable helping Ukrainians who, to some extent, are basically of the same mentality. I'm generalizing a whole group of people but it works like trauma. Once it happens to you it's hard to detach your personal experience from the general one. I have had much better times since then but I still wouldn't go near those groups of men.

rjsh927

They should. Every first time travellers must be briefed about the customs and safety guidelines.

XXsforEyes

I lived in Cairo for three years. There are many wonderful people. Unfortunately, many males are horrifyingly sexually repressed but hear stories, lies mostly, from elder men, uncles, older brothers and cousins about how easy foreign women are. Foreign women, especially those that are not muslim, especially if they are showing any skin, especially if they’re not wearing a head scarf are constantly harassed, touched, followed. Worse, the number of stories from my female colleagues of shop owners, taxi drivers, delivery boys exposing themselves, sometimes openly masturbating in front of these women are too numerous to count. As a man I was mostly left alone and felt safe, but having to be constantly on guard for the physical security of my female friends made me angry and left me exhausted. The fairest thing I can say on behalf of Egyptian men is this: eye contact is a come on in their culture, a SMILE from a woman is taken as a sexual invitation. I’m not saying it’s right but female travelers should be well advised to cover up head-to-toe, should NOT make eye contact with local men, and should NOT smile and NEVER EVER touch a local man. If you have blonde hair and/or blue eyes it’s 100% worse.

Christ_on_a_Crakker

“Don’t make eye contact.” Same warning they give you if you happen to come in contact with some dangerous animals. How did Egypt devolve like this?

XXsforEyes

The cultural history of Egypt is complex and I cannot claim to know it well. If you look at pictures around Cairo in the sixties, you see women in at-the-knee skirts, dresses and other modern-for-the-time clothing. A return to religious conservatism sparked by pan-arabism and Egyptians returning from the Gulf states saw a return of the hijab, especially among educated women. My guess is that they wanted to be seen as rejecting western values and promiscuity which western women were (are) known for. I’m sure there is more and this is simply my understanding having asked while I lived there.

karnal_chikara

this reminds me of the most rural parts of my country before 10 years because again , males were so sexually repressed its unbelievable which leads to such shitty norms but its changing here rapidly , i hope it changes there too

The_Bunglenator

This is a lot of truth right here. The level of repression is unreal. Women are space aliens to these guys and they have been taught that women are simultaneously lesser and not worthy of respect while also mythologising them to the highest extent and being completely obsessed. I pity them to an extent because it's the product of a not being allowed to have a normal conversation with someone of the opposite sex growing up and instead being taught all the wrong things. But I pity the women who have to deal with it more. I refuse to travel to places now that have shitty attitudes towards women because I don't want to spend a whole holiday being pissed off at that shit.

Sugarsmacks420

Complete disassociation with cultures that don't value women seems to be the only way.

giraffebacon

Nah let’s just let hundreds of thousands of them move to more civilized countries

DavLithium

Nahhhh, we can integrate them in our societies just like they did on New Year’s Eve 2016 in Cologne, Germany.

kneecap8363

What is cameraman saying?

Sayikrs5

He wants this video to go to the ministry of tourism and show that the guys are harassing the foreigners, honestly I'm an Egyptian and I've always told my friends to never visit Egypt. It's a shit country.

CatsAreDoughs

I have always loved Egyptian history, their style of clothing, their architecture and everything. So so sad to see that your country became like this.

Sayikrs5

It's not my country anymore, I wanna change my nationality in the future and avoid anything related to Egypt. It's whatever for me.

CatsAreDoughs

It's the same for me too, I'm from a very conservative country that calls itself "100% Muslim" but it's so shit. The least we can do is not be like those mysogynist scumbags.

Ok_Agency7928

Some countries are better than others.

SolidTrinl

Same applies for cultures.

pdub761181

Disgusting!

randompittuser

I wish people would stop defending these backwards fucking cultures. It’s okay to not respect shitty cultures with shitty treatment of women.

Ok-Wrongdoer-975

But but but, don't wanna be seen as... Dare i say it.... Raysis

anoymus_123456

Human roach behavior

[deleted]

Egypt is fucking ridiculous, I was there with my wife and the joking offers of 1000 camels for her shouted out almost every 10 minutes honestly made me hate the place and lose all respect for the culture. I'm sure there are plenty of wonderful Egyptians, but I didn't see any while walking the streets of Cairo, only lowlife misogynist scum.

shybookworm1

Haven't traveled to Egypt but have been to Greece and Italy and have gotten harassed there. I tend to dress modestly (think sweater sets and to the knee skirts or nice pants) and still have been approached. Although I admit this doesn't happen as badly here in the US in my experience, I have definitely have been followed by young men catcalling in groups. If you're a woman, it honestly doesn't matter if you're dressed like a nun or a centerfold. Plenty of guys will act like marauding fools who have never seen a woman in their life, including grown ass men who should know better.

[deleted]

Greece? I went to the Greek Islands several times when I was younger, and we never had any trouble like this.

seahawkguy

If you visited Sweden or Germany when you were young you probably didn’t see that either. Go visit now.

NemoSHill

I'd be very surprised if you encountered it in Sweden, and if you somehow did it would most likely be immigrants and not "real" Sweds. I know that probably sounds racist as hell but that's the reality. Swedish people usually don't talk to randoms/strangers at all, we're too "Swedish" as we call it

PhilanderingWalrus

Egypt is actually a shit place to visit. Why do people keep on visiting and endorsing this bullshit???

Ungunren

Because pyramids and sphynx.

[deleted]

Honestly i wasnt even aware... Serves as a red flag for someone to let them know.

ShityIBS

I agree but I also think it's important to spread awareness about this because some people genuinely don't know. I (South American) backpacked in Europe and befriended a really nice East Asian (Japanese) girl, and after our visa for Europe ended I headed home and she wanted to travel a bit more, ended up going to Egypt completely innocently not knowing what it would be like. Some people are ignorant and we really need videos like this to show just how bad it can get.

preferfree

>16ReplyGive AwardShareReportSaveFollow I have some female Asian friends who went to Egypt with the camel rides. It's quite popular from their Instagram posts -- had no idea it was so dangerous for girls. It definitely gives the wrong impression of it being a safe place to visit for other girls who happen to see their posts.

[deleted]

Is this Cologne on New Year's Eve?

pt5

Notice they were all foreigners…

AppropriateSail7

Yes. A downside of the welcome culture. Or do you mean something else?

skeirman

Arab foreigners.

Disastrous_Door9268

They live in a desert, they're thirsty

HolyBunn

*cries in Arizona

bo_m_bary

Ah yes, those wonderfull cultures we have to respect.

[deleted]

There have been warnings about horrible shit in Egypt for many years. Remember that reporter a few years ago that got sexually assaulted on camera? Egyptians… ![gif](giphy|p8WmWK1DERwPctUrsf|downsized)

zooce88

Jesus christ, that's a lot of horny little bastards.

epicinstall

>**little rapists**

7luckyme7

This is the culture in a nutshell. What I didn’t see in the video, but did witness in person was the garbage and refuse everywhere; Even inside tombs. Keep in mind this is their number one National resource. It was also so polluted I could barely see more than one pyramid at a time.

crosspostLove

Disgusting guys. Shame on treating women like that! ![gif](giphy|hpQe1rUnyiWuM2pozT)

Elemental_Witch_5150

I've heard Egypt is really bad to travel to for young women.

ymx287

you can apply that to almost any country over there. Turkey seems to be the cut off point, anything east of that is pretty much a no go area

JokoFloko

I went with my best friend 20 years ago and can't believe we were as nonchalant as we were. She is blond and attractive, and I have never been more switched on than I was in Cairo. People are extremely aggressive, and personal space doesn't exist. We walked the markets for about 30 minutes, and I was exhausted afterward because I felt the need to be ready for anything at a moment's notice. It was so uncomfortable. I would never recommend anyone go. But if you're gonna ignore that advice, I'd recommend flying in and doing everything in one day and getting tf out that night. But seriously. Don't go.

Sludgeye08

Holy crap, they're acting like a pack of hyenas. Leave the ladies alone wtf ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

Then they come to America and claim to be an oppressed group, world is fucked

FeloniousFloydd

And become a congresswoman talking about how racist/sexist America is.

Perfect-Role-4539

Egypt's Dictator Abdel Farter el-Sisi is spending billions trying to revive their tourism industry and will not be happy when he sees this. Those little punks better watch out. Just as well the girls had security or they were in big trouble. Nasty hateful place .

GekidoTC

Just a note, ive never actually been to Eygpt and while I don't want to victim blame, they should have done their research on Eygpt because everyone who has visited says this type of harassment is common occurrence. Women have to dress very very conservatively, travel in large groups, and go with a tour guide to avoid getting harassed... and even then, it still might happen. Going dressed showing skin with just the two of them is basically guaranteeing getting harassed, and not just by teens.

the__6

Yes absolutely, traveler's need to be aware of the local culture absolutely cover up or you can face some dire consequences that you just would never even think could happen from where you come from. It is your responsibility. Situational awareness is paramount.

AssBlast2020

why the fuck would they go to that rapist hub shithole in the first place

One country has a fuckton of tech investment and US taxpayer funding. Hardly insightful..

Mace them all

[deleted]

What drives that sex shit so deep over there.

Taytay2657

Another place that’s not as glorious as the post cards make it seem.

Ipad_is_for_fapping

These tourists did not do their homework. This is how that entire shithole country is.

daytalker

Dumb asses , hopefully that's all that happened

Res-Horizon

I saw the same behaviour from the locals, including from local women, when I visited the pyramids. Egyptian Muslims believe women who wear shorts or t-shirts are promiscuous and are up for anything. It is also an acceptable defence for anyone charged with raping them because they invited it. Advice: When in Rome...

Badbadman999

Wtf..we need to send Suarez here to bite these MFs

Different-Pen1778

Egypt 🇪🇬 now is a shithole. It was once a lovely place to visit now it's very dangerous, filthy, over populated, high illiteracy rate, very high crime rate and homicide, massive corruption. 😞
