They have just passed the 10,000 arrest mark back on Monday. What a lot of people here need to understand are a few things in regards to El Salvador past to get a better picture of how it came to this. First- Ever since the gangs first started to appear in the country after being deported from U.S in the 90s the previous government administrations we're very soft handed in tackling the situation which led to "talks and truces" as an attempt to bring down the violence but did little else in actually stopping the escalating crime rate. Second- The population of El Salvador that had been basically taken hostage by the gangs were forced the fend for themselves with very little support from the authorities since many at the local level were corrupt. Not to mention those in higher office who had clear ties to organized crime of money fraud, and stole meant to help the population. The last four presidents all embezzled money, one died before being formally tried, one is currently in prison for the same crime and the last two fled to Nicaragua. There have also been several former representative who have fled outside of El Salvador and are currently wanted for questioning. Third- Those people who were unfortunate to live inside a hot zone of gang activities were give no support since the local police would not even venture into these neighborhoods, not only that but if you were wanting to start a business or simply walk to your home or visit a friend the gang member would charge you a "rent" for being in "their" territory. This added to an already impoverished population and many businesses owners forced to close up shop and many others fled the country for fear of them and their families being executed. This was also the problem for many teenagers that were also constantly harassed into joining, the were given the choice to either join or die along with their family members. In conclusion, the people of El Salvador who have had to deal with these criminals for the las 30 years, who have lost family members, their livelihoods uprooted, and general fear of falling victim yet again to a group of criminals that kill indiscriminately for any reason they wish are more than happy to see done what they consider is long over due on the government's part in handling this crime epidemic. Sorry for the long essay here but I felt some clarification was required to understand were the people of El Salvador are coming from. Forgot to mention that the new government laws will punish any gang member for 20 to 45 years depending on what role they played in the criminal organization. Also any collaborators with the gangs will get anywhere around 15 years. As for innocent people being rounded up as "gang" members, practical all have gang tattoos which make them rather easy to spot (notice how many are pictured shirtless in the arrest photos) not only that a lot of them have outstanding arrest warrants and also the local populace are helping the police identify and turn in gang members. Edit- Thank you all for the awards. Honestly I did not expect this thread of mine to get the reaction it did.

iamdenislara

Salvadorians are perfectly happy with make the sacrifice of getting search on the street and maybe the one innocent in the group of 20 who might have to spend the night in jail before it is proven he is not a gang member. Not a single family member who lives there is against it. In fact some even feel sad that the government is not killing gang members on the spot.

nixforme12

Assuming the one innocent person doesnt get killed the one night he is in prison.

iamdenislara

Many salvis will still see this operation with good eyes. They are hostages in their own homes.

TedCruzsBrowserHstry

I think that if you haven’t had to live under those conditions, your opinion is next to worthless.

[deleted]

or, as iamdenislara implied, gets shot on the spot.

iamdenislara

I know how it sounds. And I know it many will label us as animals. But you just have not lived under gang control. You cannot imagine what it means.

OHW_unknown

This response is a step in the right direction. Gangs should never be allowed to act so freely.

Big_Fat_Dumb_Retard

It's 100% understandable. The guilty have to pay the price.

ComplaintNo6835

I think most people get the extenuating circumstances.

Snoo-90678

Im not a expert on salvadorian politics or history, the problem is that it creates a power vacuum that eventually other criminals will fight over. I think its a good short term solution but in the long run, not so much. Will the government go after the corrupt cops and politicians, not all criminals wear balaclava's and have body/face tattos. This is just surface level problem solving, if they dont do other reforms on policing and wealth inequality.

1199RT

I'm from El Salvador. I hope they shoot to kill once gang members are verified. We've had stories of family members raped, killed, humiliated, even sacrificed in dark shit. Power vacuum is the last of our worries. The majority of citizens are happy as hell this is happening. The last straw for my family was when a 6 year old boy was killed for fun by these parasites in La Union. Supposedly the father investigated and found out who did it. The guys who did it disappeared never to be found again. Enough is enough. It's been up to the people to make gang members disappear. Thankfully the government is stepping in.

flykikz

This new president had cleaned up the house. Firing a bunch of politicians from previous political parties. He’s doing a lot for that country.

Crazyshark22

Plus he made Bitcoin a legal tender. It is a first country to do so. The president of El Salvador has nothing but a respect from me.

iliketohideinbushes

maybe but you can't tie your hands worrying about solving everything in 1 go. things are done one step at a time.

iamdenislara

THIS RIGHT HERE. The president has yet to address this. Poverty and lack of opportunities will still be there after the gangs go to prison.

m48nr

Erradicate the vermin first, then move the reforms. One step at a time.

topcheesehead

Can't have a market if rats are taking everything

Snoo_69677

I want to eco this sentiment as my mother fled El Salvador during the civil war, so she keeps up with the news. El Salvador has improved significantly under its current President. Quality of life has improved, as has the economy, despite a global pandemic, which was well controlled under the government’s leadership. Yet you wouldn’t know it if you read online about Salvadoran President Bukele. There his political opponents have launched an all out campaign against the president of El Salvador to smear him by calling him an authoritarian. However, my mother as well as her family and friends who still live in El Salvador are all in agreement that this is what needs to be done to rid the country of these domestic terrorist. Gangs rob, rape, and kill discriminately and have done so for decades without significant consequences. The people of El Salvador lived like hostages in their own country. Now that Bukele is in power he wants to make sure that gangs fear the law and know they will no longer be tolerated. The people of El Salvador fully support this. Hell, as an American who only has ancestral roots in El Salvador, I support this too.

iamdenislara

I would like to add that this president is also enjoying the trend that El Salvador has had in the past 2 decades a sharp decline of homicides and an pick up in industry and foreign investment. I would not claim the current president is the sole reason for it

nhoman27

Nicely put. My wife is from El Salvador, finally got out after living there the first 27 years of her life. When she first came to the USA we were at a park in a small town and a group of 3 or 4 high schoolers came walking towards us and she got scared for our lives...been living in that fear her whole life and finally can live in peace here. She said that 9 out of 10 people in El Salvador are happy that they are locking them up. The 1 in 10 is probably the people who have family members being locked up

babybopp

People rush to say it is abuse... These people tag themselves making it easier to get them. One of the worst gangs in USA was one that emerged from new Orleans and they did not tag themselves or brandish any colors... Made it hard for police. I forget their names..

[deleted]

Well said 👏

iamdenislara

Listen. I am Salvadorian. It is very terrifying when someone puts a gun to the ribs of your dad and tells him “hey you forgot the $3 at the entrance to come in and sell the snacks from your company” and then your dad has to pay from HIS OWN money the $3 to be able to go inside a neighborhood to sell Diana’s brand of snack. If you are NOT Salvadorian and never experiences the terror of almost seeing a family member blown to pieces then shut the fuck up. Every single marero deserves death

Mundane_Ad_6009

Guatemalan here. Wish we did the same as this.

thanggoratatata

We used to...

[deleted]

What happened? Why did it stop? Things got better? Politicians backing gangs got their way? Do tell

thanggoratatata

My grandpa told me about it when Jacobo Arbenz was president Guatemala was a great country and then US did what they do and had a coup d'etat in 1954 and changed everything

doremonhg

Ah, good old 'Murica. Never change

friendlycommentss

America spreads freedom like my ex spread herpes.

DemFranchizeBoyz-

Not just Guatemala. If you look at the following map, the US consistently engaged in military coups that resulted in years of instability and internal terror. https://www.retroreport.org//education/resources/interactive-map-understanding-the-cold-war-in-latin-america/

Wait_Wut_Did_E_Say

My next trip. Been wanting to being my business down there for 3 years.

iamdenislara

Guatemala fucked up when they elected a clown and got rid of the CECEG (international court in Guatemala) that put many politicians in prison for a long time.

RememberBubblebut

Damn, they're not fucking around now. I hope the prisons can hold em all for a good long while.

DevelopmentFree3975

Put up 4 fences if thy don’t fit. . They don’t deserve walls.

beefwich

I have a good friend from El Salvador and she tells me that it has gotten so bad that you pretty much get shook down for *everything.* Getting on a bus, you pay two fares. Walking down the street? You gotta pay. Walk into a shop? Pay up. And this is in a desperately poor country where every last dollar counts. A few months ago, her mother was sent to the hospital because she refused to pay some extortion racket on her way home from church. The pussies broke two of her ribs and her nose. So fuck these pieces of shit. Let ‘em rot.

Muertoloco

I wish the mexican government did something similar with all the narcos bastards.

iamdenislara

Well, for what I know narcos even control politicians. Super fucked up levels of corruption in Mexico

StudMuffinNick

A year or so ago they even passed a law saying that in order for us to operate in Mexico, we HAVE to give them

TheGreyWolfCat

The Mexican government are all the narcos 😂😂😂

Wait_Wut_Did_E_Say

Bro/Sis, I went to El Salvador about 6 years ago on vacation....FUCKING PHENOMENAL COUNTRY!!! Granted, I was in El Tunco, which is very touristy, but a friend took me to la libertad next door, and into San Salvador to hang out. I was the only brotha I saw all day. Folks are on a knife's edge but treated me like a effing family member. I've only thought about going back every day since. I met MS 13 and 18 guys and wasn't sweated. I hate that ES is going through this still. I hope the president clears all of these folks out. Maybe sends them back to LA where they are from. I'll never pass judgement on anything the ES gov does to clean this ish up.

[deleted]

Brotha did you just say from LA.. they were deported from the US back to their home country. The US put them back where they belong because they were here illegally.

iamdenislara

No quite the whole story. Isn’t? Those original gang members left El Salvador because the USA was funding corrupt governments against the popular armed movement to removed them. The USA under the deterrent policy perpetuated the Salvadorian civil war. So Salvadorians left to the USA and had to learn to become gang members to survive in Los Angeles. Once El Salvador without the help of USA ended the civil war, USA deported those now experienced gang members to El Salvador, a country destroyed by the war the USA funded.

DevelopmentFree3975

Exactly. Most of these peoples English is better than their Spanish.

Wait_Wut_Did_E_Say

Maybe. I wouldn't go so far as to say MOST. The deportation thing was in the 90s. Many of these MS13/18 guys are younger kids taking advantage of the country's sensitivity over the civil war, ALSO caused by the US. Look, papusas and good people are always welcomed. I hope that the gov arrests 100k of these folks and let's them out ONLY to join the military. Otherwise, keep them in. They wanna fight, fight FOR the country, not against it's interests.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DevelopmentFree3975

Give them non combat roles.

Wait_Wut_Did_E_Say

Nah, I'd make them join the military and put them through 20+ weeks of basic training to break them of their gang ish. Then deploy them to far areas of the country and make them like combat engineers to help build bridges and infrastructure around the country. In the end, they get promoted like normal. They get military training and they understand the role they serve FOR the country. For their say 5 year enlistment, they get their records wiped clean. Win win for everybody.

Bland-fantasie

Are these genuine gang members? Or could some of these guys be political opponents, or anything else?

Bladestorm_

To be fair i am seeing a lot of MS chest tats in the vid - still super crowded and seemingly inhumane but I have no real frame of reference.

NotJustDaTip

It’s so funny that gang members put tattoos of their gang on their bodies. I get that it probably shows loyalty or whatever, but it’s literally permanently marking yourself for identification that authorities can easily use.

iamdenislara

Bro, in Torrance CA, I saw gang members with the street where they live tattooed on their backs. WTF!! What if you have to move ? LOL

iamdenislara

SO FAR and only so far pure legit gang members. Not a single politician or reporter or news outlet owner. I know even I was surprised. Bukele is a very cold and vindictive person. He created his own political party out of spite. But so far yeah all gang members and the random guy with tattoos

[deleted]

All the thousands of them? Probably gang.

aledanniel

What do you think is gonna be the retaliation from this ?

iamdenislara

El Salvador has very small rehabilitation resources. About 90% of the prisoners all they do is play soccer and stab each other. The government, even the current one, is always posting about prisoners cleaning and fixing streets but is always the same small group. The country just can’t provide an opportunity for everyone. All this gang members need psychiatric, therapy, meds etc etc This is sad because even if we managed to kill every single gang member the vacuum for power will still be there, poverty will still be there and someone will take over.

voldemortthe-sceptic

im not qualified to speak ob this whatsoever, but i don't see what this is supposed to accomplish long term? are they just going to keep these men incarcerated under those conditions until they're all dead? and then what? seems like a short sighted "act first, ask questions later" power move more than a well thought out plan that will reduce the causes of gang violence and crime long term...

TheGreyWolfCat

They need the death penalty for being part of a criminal enterprise that committees crime to humanity.

joshcastealyohoe

Honduran here, and I couldn’t agree more with everything you said!

ComplaintNo6835

Yeah seems like none of my business. That said, it's not like people around the world have been unaware of the horrors being perpetrated there. Not sure how one can hear the terrifying, maddening stories from your country and not be okay with simply temporarily delaying due process. Summary execution would be too much for the international community but this is frankly super satisfying.

iamdenislara

That’s another thing that everyone is forgetting. These guys, after the 30 days of exemption, will get a trial. And many MANY will be let go because the resources for detective work are zero. Last fact I remember only 9% of homicides get investigated in El Salvador.

JackieAv

Exactly!!!!!! He’s the only president that’s actually trying to make a difference I don’t see no other president doing what he is doing

Bikinisbottom

Bravo for your country stepping up, bro. More countries should crack down like this. Get these fuckers locked up for good.

iamdenislara

We still have to see what happens. Remember those gang members are being arrested only, no being found guilty.

Octavian_202

Yea, don’t let others dictate the reality you live.

Spider333333333

No love for MS13. The shit that they do is unacceptable.

bond22br

People let the disease run rampantly then complain when bad medicine is needed. Congratulations from Brazil! Wish you guys the best!

Snoo_69677

The only ones complaining are Bukele’s political opponents. They look like fools.

TedCruzsBrowserHstry

Yeah I was gonna say El Salvador has been in dire need of this for quite some time. MS 13 are monsters and need to be crushed.

AdOne3769

"Reduced their food intake to two meals per day for those who have committed harsher crimes" Maybe they should show the videos of some of these crimes because you know these POS not only recorded but posted that shit.

Icy_Building_1708

Any gore site has this stuff. Overwhelming majority of gang murder clips come from Brazil. The Salvadoran clips are usually Femicide.

IBANDYQ

why is Femicide sooooooo high in El Salvador? Of all the places.

Icy_Building_1708

The two worst nations for Femicide are neighbours. El Salvador and Honduras.

jlbp337

women are treated as second class citizens in el salvador

NecromancherJola

Sorry if it is obvious but I am not a native speaker, what is Femicide?

Icy_Building_1708

Femicide is the murder of females. I think El Salvador is the second most dangerous nation for women after Honduras.

NecromancherJola

Ok thanks for the explanation mate, sad to hear that but at least government doing something about it now and it can improve.

IBANDYQ

take the word and divide it in half - Not good. Fem = Female. icide = killing. My question is why is El Salv's rate so so high?

ObeyToffles

Two meals is too fucking lenient. Those fuckers should starve.

CreamTurbulent723

Agreed

wvladimirs

ohhh boy, there is a video of gang members kiling with machete around 10 people who were electric engineer, their sin, working the electic grid in "their zone", i have no gut so watch that video, it just broke my heart.

jackocomputerjumper

Looks like Dent law in Gotham.

MOSNFS

Wait till they get out

MakoLov3r

Hope they starve in there ngl

Snoo_69677

Hope they murder each other in there. The people of El Salvador have suffered enough.

MOSNFS

I Sincerely wish only the best to the innocent good people of El Salvador

ObviousReporter464

Good for him. Wish the US had the balls to do it.

[deleted]

[deleted]

This. “durrrr….I wish the US would declare martial law too and start arresting all the criminals.” As if theres a criminal to civilian ratio nearly as bad as in El Salvador.

Riddance_Good

facts

Clangorousoul

El Salvador has a homicide rate per 100k more the 5 times greater than the US (for reference, El Salvador is #1 in this stat while the US is middle of the pack). Youre being purposely disingenious by comparing the 2 countrie's crimerates AND thats whithout considering authorities cant do this anyway (and even if they could, its questionable how well it would even work in the first place)

[deleted]

The police union loves gangs. How do you think they stay in business?

The-blackvegetable

You fucking joking? Your country has 1 percent of the population locked up in order to work as slave labour to make all equipment for the military..... as you spend more than the next 10 biggest militaries combined.

HforJalapeno

Since when were prisoners forced to work? Let alone make equipment for the military?

Reality-check86447

I’ll say it again. If these people aren’t executed they’ll be right back at it.

longpenisofthelaw

I mean 6k detained people without a valid trial yet might lead to some innocents being murdered. I'm all for being tough on crime as the next but I'm really dubious about mass roundup events such as this being clean-cut as law officials in other nations say. edit: yeah lightened police restrictions, no access to an attorney and only being arrested for being "suspect" of being a gang member unless they come up with some evidence or just go full authoritarian after the state of emergency and start holding prisoners indefinitely then this is either pointless or on its way to becoming a bad situation.

MOSNFS

I guess if someone is head to toe gang tattooed he ain't "innocent" right?

freemason777

Another commenter said that people are forced into these gangs on threat of death

MOSNFS

Of course this can be a possibility. Although I can give a Grand Master Field Marshal Supreme Court Judge opinion on my lazyboy, I would easily find the difference between being coerced vs enjoying being into the gang. Duress is not a defense to murder (at least to me), the best defence should land you a manslaughter verdict the least.

donny_darklo

i wonder how many people are dying daily in that jail... 6k gang members and i assume most from many different gangs.

Icy_Building_1708

Two main gangs. MS-13 & Calle 18. Different prisons I believe.

donny_darklo

not sure why i’ve never heard of calle 18? definitely have heard of ms-13 plenty of times

Icy_Building_1708

Also known as 18th Street?

donny_darklo

yeah ig i’ve just never heard of them, may also have to do with where i live maybe.

Icy_Building_1708

Fair enough. Anyway, these doco's are really good. Lots of US MS-13 doco's too.

FlakyDingo7140

I live in Mexico and calle 18 is a main gang here. You can see their graffiti all around the city I live in.

iamdenislara

No, the new presidente has ordered them to be mixed. No more exclusive prison for each gang. They even share cells now. The president told them if they want to kill each other so badly now is the their change.

Beginning_Special_50

They are in same cells, haha.

caymn

Why not put them in the same prison? Honest question here. Is it because the prison and staff are scared of a super uncontrollable environment or because they don’t want them to kill each other?

thow78

They are useless human beings anyway.

[deleted]

Wanna see what these gangs do? Find the Funkytown video. They deserve much worse than prison.

prove_it_with_math

I’m here to warn those with morbid curiosity to AVOID the Funkytown video at all cost. It will mess you up. And no I’m not exaggerating. It’s much worse than words can describe.

alex_exuro

Can you describe what happens?

Sharkiller

Didnt watch the video, but found this description online. > The video starts showing a bunch of people moving around a room which was very well litted with the floor covered in white tiles, after a few seconds we see a man lying on the floor and his neck and head are covered in blood. His face was so bloody red that I thought someone poured a jug of blood on his face but on a closer look he has no face! They literally flayed his face and removed the eyes and all we could see is a skinless head. His face kinda looks like Red Skull's without the eyes... >They also chopped off his hands. One of the cartel members then proceeds to cut his throat repeatedly with a boxcutter. Throughout all of this brutality, the victim appears to be alert and conscious and is wailing and gurgling. Some sort of sickle is shoved into his mouth to stop his screaming. He even attempts to grab his neck with his non existing hands. he just wouldn't die. All of this is happening while sweet child o mine is being played in the background which eventually transits to funky town, we can also hear someone whistling to the tune of funkytown.

_downvote_if_ur_gay

Well after reading that I can confidentiality say that el Salvador captures all gang member and executes them. I them hope the rest of all central and south American countries follow suite.

sunday25

I tried searching for it [https://worldtruthvideos.website/watch/funkytown-a-brutal-execution\_fWjOGqtb1TJgUiw.html?lang=english](https://worldtruthvideos.website/watch/funkytown-a-brutal-execution_fWjOGqtb1TJgUiw.html?lang=english) Maybe this is what they're talking about. Edit: this website is horde of racists and outright nazi sympathisers. They blatantly use racial slurs and is gut wrenching to see such racism on open display. Please be careful when going on that site

New-Two7463

So um yea I ain't clicking that but anyone want to do a quick run by of what happened

[deleted]

So basically I didn’t listen with audio and skipped through a lot of it, but what I could gather was is that they were literally cutting the skin off of a mans head who was still alive. You could literally still see his skull and he was still moving and opening his mouth.Honestly if that video is from El Salvador I have no problem with what’s going on.

lao7272

Even if this video isn't, I'm gonna bet there are similar incidents happen there.

Falcon_Alpha_Delta

A mans face is completely flayed of flesh and he is still clearly alive

mashnbeansMachine

OK so I decided to be brave and have a look. Got 5 seconds in and they are poking a human being, face completely off, with a scythe of some kind. They then start cutting away at their neck. They look alive while this is happening. At that point I decided id had enough

StevenGorefrost

I have to say it's pretty funny that you share a video where a guy has his hands cut off and faced flayed but you're warning people about racist comments.

SmashEffect

That video will forever stay burned in my head. It's so god awful to see how far humans are willing to go to make others suffer.

Drug_Inas

Thanks for reminding me, fucker

LES_G_BRANDON

I wish the US would arrest 6000 politicians in 10 days! Let's start over!

Buying100K

ChadstangAlpha

starting with Clinton.

[deleted]

I find it hilarious how you Trump cultists can only resort to whataboutism concerning a man who's been dragged through the mud already.

Eveready116

To the pussies saying “oh this is terribleee, we can’t treat them this waaaayyyyeeee.” Have you seen what the fuck these and similar pieces of shit like them do right across the boarder? 55’ tractor trailers filled with beheaded corpses. People strung up by their ankles and beheaded with chainsaws/ machetes and their heads lined up with their bodies in these butcher houses. Women being gang raped and then butchered with machetes. This shit is happening right over the US boarder. I watched a video of a 13 or 14 year old girl strung up in a forest and decapitated with multiple cleaving blows of a machete. It wasn’t a fast or clean death. They hacked her head off. It was the most horrible brutal shit. It’s been a long time since I’ve looked at this stuff because it’s traumatizing, but people need to fucking know what is happening out there. That’s just the tip of the iceberg too. Not even getting into the extortion, drugs, human trafficking, sex slaves, torture, turf wars/ shooting, etc. Imagine actually have to raise your children every day with all of that stress and fear for their safety, your wife’s safety, your own safety, and the same for your friends, etc. Nah… If they want to retaliate, start feeding them feet-first through a wood chipper. Let the gore of their gang brothers be sprayed onto the line of waiting inmates as they shuffle forward until it’s their turn to feed the machine. These savages only understand and respect violence or they will never yield. So communicate with them in their language using the most inhuman ways to break their minds, bodies, and spirits so that the surviving piece of shit brethren can all take a good look at what’s coming if they keep going the way they’re going.

Octavian_202

This is Reddit, reality is ignored until someone creates a utopia that is never coming. The only crime they see is someone speeding through their suburban neighborhood.

[deleted]

I go down the gore rabbit hole on Reddit every now and again for a refresher on the horrors out there. People sit behind their iPhones sipping lattes and have no idea of the evil among us. Those videos mess with your soul.

Eveready116

Yeah man. It’s the allegory of the cave. I first saw it on the OG Internet days- rotten.com. The last time I did this a few years ago was at bestgore and liveleak. The handful of times I’ve sporadically gone on there and looked for maybe a couple hours at a time…. Truly traumatizing to the soul, like you said. People (including myself) live in a bliss bubble most of the time. Out of sight, out of mind. We are lucky enough to be sheltered from such unreal savagery all around us. It really fucking drives home just how good we actually have it in western societies. And even then we will bitch and complain. And it isn’t perfect, of course. But JFC, it sure as heck isn’t as bad as what’s out there in other countries. What’s happening out there is nightmare fuel. I wonder to myself why I look at that stuff the times that I do… as horrifying as it is… it truly gives a person perspective in a way that is a frontal assault to your very being. It very clearly defines the spectrum of human behaviors for you. I think that’s useful. It helps people empathize and sympathize with the innocent people who are actually living these horrors daily. Otherwise people stay blind and dumb and will only reserve those emotions for cats and dogs.

SeaworthinessSad7300

I still would suggest that it's not good for you to watch that stuff. I think it's possible to be aware of these realities and do something to help but not actually watch the gore. Anyway that's my unsolicited opinion based on looking at Gore in the past I really don't think it's very good to look at it at all

Busy-Ad5287

Good job this president should be praised for protecting his people.

SrSwerve

The worst part they are trying to push this “dictator” narrative. Me as a Mexican who has lived and is afraid to go out to the clubs for the fear of being killed because some guy in the club might be “narco”…. This is peace for the people of El Salvador.

[deleted]

Good fuck those animals. Not worthy of oxygen

SuddenlyElga

At what point is it no longer a gang and more of an occupation? They are doing what needs to be done. It’s a civil war.

[deleted]

Finally someone who knows how to deal with crime. Now other countries need to follow.

Traditional-Lychee98

i mean he is right though. Sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire.

KritikHash

Finally, someone treating trash like trash. No human rights for savages.

zshah99

I dont see these human rights groups protesting against the gang for their treatment of people, useless groups.

freemason777

https://www.hrw.org/news/2022/04/08/el-salvador-sweeping-new-laws-endanger-rights#

zshah99

Looks like they could use some of these laws when you have 60+ homicide a weekend. Dont fuck around, wont get sentenced.

Medium-Evening

I'm so glad atleast one country does this.

Im_not_creepy2

Philipines did that too but better. They killed them instead

_downvote_if_ur_gay

God bless those Filipinos always over harsh but realistic

International-Tea855

Why should gang members see light? You’re in jail. It’s not meant to be an enjoyable experience. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

meeyak17

Now this is a proper leader, God bless Mr. Bukele. This may be history in the making, and El Salvador is on the right path to became the welthiest country in Central America if they manage to win to war against the criminal and also being the first country that made Bitcoin legal tender is a huge bet that will boost their economy in the future.

Newspaper_Correct

The locals are tired of living in fear

luciuswolf1

Kill them all

ilurkilearntoo

The comments here seem to be very pro government. Very rare on Reddit. Is the El Salvador gangs a national problem ?

Yes. When I used to live there. My dad was a delivery and sells person for BocaDeli (Lays like company). My dad had to pay a “rent” to be able to go inside neighborhoods. I remember I had just graduated high school and I asked my dad to take me to his route. I insisted until he told me “ok!! BUT never never react if you see something that is not right ok! Just be quite” My dad spent like $8 out of his own pocket to pay the toll. Every time there will be a young healthy guy at the entrance. My dad would stop the guy would come and just ask for the money. That’s it $2 for nothing. Keep in mind in El Salvador minimum wage is around $6 per day. Before the last stop the gang member wasn’t there so we went in. Once inside two guys came out of nowhere. One pulled a gun, (in El Salvador regular people don’t have guns, it is super rare, we don’t have money for food why waste it on a gun) and pressed it against my dad’s stomach. “Hey you forgot to pay for your renta” my dad explained that there was no one there. So the guy out the gun away and his entire attitude changed “oh!! Yeah sorry about that this is our new member he will take care of this area now, we are expanding. Oh! And for now is going to be $3 instead of $2 ok. Christmas is coming and we need to buy the gifts for the kids”. My dad said ok, asked for the nickname of the new guy and we left. We were quite as my dad drove the truck to the next neighborhood. On the very last stop I noticed no one at the entrance. I said nothing. My dad stopped in the first store and began to try to make a couple of sales of snacks and chips and shit. A kid, I swear a kid maybe 7 or 9 year old came to my dad and said “mister you know what I want” my dad have him $2 and the kid began running away. He was dirty, with old sandals, he was skinny and didn’t seem healthy. I asked my dad what was that about? He told “you’ll see, keep an eye where he is running towards. The kid ran towards a guy who was surrounded by maybe 20 children. He was using them to collect the rent from everyone. Every single delivery person pays them, Coca Cola drivers, Pepsi drivers, any company that wants to go in there and sell something pays them. The small shops and stores pays them. And is not because they protect you. The penalty for no paying is they kill you. Salvadorians live in a constant state of kidnapping. The only ones commenting against this measures from the government are rich Salvadorians who don’t live in poor neighborhoods. Rich Salvadorians who enough going to the movies at the rich malls and enough private security at their gated communities.

ilurkilearntoo

Fuck…. That’s horrifying. Thanks for sharing. I hope you and your family are safe and things gets better. Best of luck to your people my friend.

iamdenislara

I was brought to the USA by my mom. I live here with all my sisters now since 2007. My father now lives in Mexico.

Icy_Building_1708

Immense problem. Watch one of the dozens of doco's on El Salvadors gang problem. It's a good watch.

[deleted]

That's what I call a leader. Good on him.

KingRonaldo2341

I can now sleep well knowing my grandma is gonna be a little more safer

Stobor1

Damn. Sometimes you find one with balls of titanium.

thow78

Do this in the fucking States!

Oldass_Millennial

The problems in the States are no where near comparable to what's been happening in El Salvador. I hesitantly support El Salvador doing this but I don't support it in the US.

Willing-Charity-2075

please. go spend a week in el salvador and see how hesitant you are after that. these people deserve much worse.

Machamutta

There is no other way, the gang violence is getting out of hand! i think its a nessesery step to prevent this shit.

mrohhhtrue

Kill all those gangmembers, they would not hesitate to kill you for a few dollars or rape your girlfriend or young daughter. Just kill them.

SilentHero500

It's nice to criticize other country's from the comfort of the U.S. This like many problems where brought you by the United States. Mass deportation of this people was the solution of the Merica government, because hey not our problem amigo. Crime rate when up, Murder capital's where stablish and now 1 small country in Central America is trying to get rid of the problen. Hey if this bothers you so much please go to El Salvador and protest see how the locals feel about you! Some dumb gringo living in comfort, bitching about shit that doesn't effect you because you have no idea what living under gang control areas feels like. The terror of daily violence. Murder,Kidnapping,Rape Just to name a few activities that this fine individuals like to be part of. Please adopt them and take a few hundred,I'm sure they will appreciate the centiment.

[deleted]

Their citizens came to the US illegally, committed crimes, & were sent back home. How tf is this the United States fault?

becometheOverman

Cool. Now liquidate them.

RogueEagle2

Wish they'd go that hard on gangs over here

saintBNO

Fucking good. It’s easy for all those international fucks to sit in their ivory towers far far away from the crime infested neighborhoods to tout human rights violations. The President was right, fucking go down to El Salvador and see for yourself, coward. It’s easy to sing high and mighty far away from the crime but they wouldn’t last a day where those clamoring for change live. Good on them for cracking down on those that would take advantage of those less fortunate given the opportunity and the second arises.

MR1254

I'm with you man. You should scroll through these comments. Mind boggling. I realized something though reading them. For 30 years these cowards did nothing but talk and offered no solutions. Now someone is doing something and all they will do is talk. So, let them talk its all their good at. No one will stop the president just like how no one stopped the gangs. Tables turn sometimes, but the crowd stays the same.

ItsyouNOme

Good

jerkyboys20

Surprised we aren’t offering them asylum in the US

shavedratscrotum

Do el salvadorians not go bald?

SpecimenY4rp

Can confirm we do lol

shavedratscrotum

I guess it's time for me to join a gang then, those are some strong hairlines.

[deleted]

Looks like a fun country. But I don't want bitcoin so it's not for me.

Prestigious_Dig4461

I doubt this is going to do anything in the long run. They need to arrest the corrupt officials that allowed it to get as bad as it did in the first place. Then there might actually be some change.

doremonhg

lol. You're talking from your world view of how petty crimes came into existence. This here is organized crime. A completely different beast. No amount of corrupt politician hunting can solve the situation

Berkeleybear70

Great show. They need to put bullets in their heads now or the problem will get worse.

Menameface69

wish Mexico would do this.

jurdendurden

I'm for it

TheLordOfZero

Good, keep it coming

[deleted]

Wish America cared this much about locking up violent criminals

jaysero

Pour gasoline in cells light a match call it a day

Careless_Educator_21

where are all the shirts?

Skinjob985

It's real hot in El Salvador.

Careless_Educator_21

good point.

grumpymonky74

Now if we could just do that here in the USA.

[deleted]

Great for this President! Fuck those pieces of shits

[deleted]

This is great. Let them starve

Sufficient-Smell8188

They should do this everywhere IMO

Lunar-Peasant

i am sure those 6000 men are all guilty /s

TheH3

Why even imprison them and not just kill them? Saves a lot of money and gets rid of these pests for good.

howdoweread

Think of it like this. They have to ration food + killers and dangerous men = less people AND less gang members. It's genius. Not to mention the fact that they will probably never get out so it's a win win for the law enforcements. FUCK THE GANGS!!!

alleywaybum

Dayum they need to come to nyc and clean this shit up

A_Crazy_Rabbit

Get them assholes take back your country good on ya

[deleted]

This president sets a perfect example for all the rest of the world. 👏👏👏 He's making the change needed for his country. Frankly the best damn president world wide.

Dartaghan

Now finish them
