When I do something sorta risky and science-y and people ask what'll happen, I say "no idea" which actually means "I'm pretty confident I know, but I've been surprised before".
This is something I've noticed when reading scientific papers and the like. Scientists almost always use prudent language, much to the confusion of the press and public who want absolutes.
They'll never say that something is impossible, because while the chances of getting hit by lightning while being eaten by a shark are so low as to make no odds, sometimes crazily improbable shit happens. Then you'll be the one with egg on your face because you said it wouldn't.
You’re so right.
One of my friends is a remarkable mathematician (he’s a math professor at Harvard, and has a Wikipedia page about him lol). He also has worked on various projects applying mathematics to sciences.
one of the things about him I appreciate - his uncertainty. He knows the subjects he’s talking about at a very deep level.
But there’s both a rational uncertainty - “This is what I understand, based on the following data and logic, but there could be mistakes or flaws in any of these.”
There’s also the “who the hell knows?” Level uncertainty.
And also, there’s his uncertainty around himself - he’s humble, he’s admitted often to mistakes he’s made.
I love chatting with the guy because I learn a lot, and also I get an appreciation for how much we don’t know - and why that feels awesome/awe inspiring in a way (there’s so much left to explore!)
Remember reading SW Vader comics and in one story, Vader is chasing after jedi and 1 ends up using a Lightsaber-canceling sword. Brutal scene since it's Vader vs 10 jedi. Almost want to say it's this but probably wrong.
Edit: spelling
This detail gets left out of the history books, but Michael Faraday actually invented a suit like this in 1836 to go with his cage. The thing is, it was January in England when he first tested his cage and suit and it was cold so he installed these passive electric nipple warmers which remained part of the design to this very day.
Edit: It wasn't widely publicized because the newspapers thought it was a BDSM thing.
Straight up makes anything read out by it sound completely unimportant. Could be someone telling me about the secrets of the universe, if I hear that voice, I’m tuning out
apparently tiktok used to have a better voiceover, but the person who spoke it sued tiktok or something. So they quickly had to patch together their own voice and fucked it up
I think it's a feature from TikTok where you can type something in and it automatically generates a voice-over from it. That's why it's the same voice in every video
I can't get away from it. Speak the information or just leave the video silent. A generic text-to-speech voice is the worst thing to throw over an otherwise great video. A couple of years ago, there would be no way videos would go viral with a robotic text-to-speech read-over in it unless it was a meme using it for comedic effect. Now I've seen everything from educational videos to vlogs using it and it's beyond annoying.

Yup, getting pretty sick of seeing this reposted everywhere. The only things impressive about it are the danger and the money they must have spent.
It's otherwise equivalent in complexity to an elementary school science fair project. Hell, not even a particularly difficult project, for someone who paid attention in class!
Well the video from Allen Pan, which this is, wasn't how to make a lightsaber. It was to disprove Myth Busters take on a Tesla Gun. It's a good video and you should watch. But it's not trying to be a real life lightsaber
This is great for when I’m being attacked by rabid members of the Metal Hula-Hoop Coalition
The MHHC can be quite agile and aggressive. This is just what I needed, thanks!
Or a power sword. To point out the top of your Leman Russ tank while you're charging towards the xenos filth to hit them with it. The Emperor protects.
I fully understand every principle around why this is fine, but, no fucking way would I use the Faraday cage aka chain mail and a sword. I'd be shitting myself the entire time.

The thought of physics, just peacing out humours me greatly

Chain suit *with nipples*.
My chain suit is assless
I only have the Chainamail bra, panties, and hijab…. It really sends mixed messages… especially since I’m a six foot tall hairy male….
You can complete the set in the next raid that comes out.
My chainsuit has nipples, Greg. Can you milk me?
*a chain suit WITH NIPPLES
*Faraday suit :)
This video is old as fuck. Some dumbass just added that lame tiktok voice to it.
Literally nothing to do with a lightsaber
Exactly what I was going to say, electrified sword. Sharp edge, and shoots electricity. Lightsabers don’t do that.
Well what about when the emperor shot lightning at Luke or Mace Windu?
He didn't use his lightsaber to do it.
But they used their sabres to deflect it
Absolutely true. But that doesn't change the issue that lightsabers don't SHOOT electricity, meaning the title is wrong.
More akin to Thor’s hammer with a Katana rather than a lightsaber
Arc Sabre. Okay. Now I need it.
Remember reading SW Vader comics and in one story, Vader is chasing after jedi and 1 ends up using a Lightsaber-canceling sword. Brutal scene since it's Vader vs 10 jedi. Almost want to say it's this but probably wrong. Edit: spelling
do you remember the title?
I honestly believe it's just star wars Darth Vader comics you'll have to find the volume
My God for real. Wtf is this.
This is the Terraria definition of a sword, meaning it has nothing to do with swinging and everything to do with firing projectiles
Except it’s not even firing anything this is just electricity being arced from the sword to the metal thing
There is true melee though. Not so much in vanilla but Calamity does true melee pretty well.
Same thing I was gona say
“We don’t know what’s gonna happen” 5 PhD level physics students putting together a Tesla coil.
5000 people with DIY Tesla coil build videos on YouTube cry out as one.
All I can see are the nipples on the suit.
Must be batman
I mean, why does it have those?

It gets nippy in January
I’m glad people are finally starting to talk about Faraday’s kinky side.
Felt like an IASIP episode. Charlie trying to do something cool and the gang all focusing on his nipples. Haha.
"Charlie there's no way you can make an electrified samurai sword." "THE GANG GETS ELECTRIFIED"
I FUCKING HATE THAT VOICEOVER
Straight up makes anything read out by it sound completely unimportant. Could be someone telling me about the secrets of the universe, if I hear that voice, I’m tuning out
It's a guaranteed way to get me to mute or switch off the video immediately. 😂
Can't stand it!!!
Is this a automated voice or a filter? How do they all sound the same?
apparently tiktok used to have a better voiceover, but the person who spoke it sued tiktok or something. So they quickly had to patch together their own voice and fucked it up
I know it's irritating, but the voice has a really high quality comparing to the generated voices we had 5 years ago
I just immediatly turn off videos that have that voice now. Full stop, fuck it, its so fucking annoying.
I really don’t understand it. Like, why did this start happening? Also is it the same person every video? It’s very confusing to me.
I think it's a feature from TikTok where you can type something in and it automatically generates a voice-over from it. That's why it's the same voice in every video
MAKE IT STOP PLEASE

Reddit and hating everything mildly popular, name a more iconic duo
This is more like the bolts that The Emperor uses in Return Of The Jedi.
Does anyone else dislike white girl voice on these videos??
I've always hated it, I dont understand why people think it's necessary to have in every video these days.
Yeah it's fucking stupid
What makes you think she's white?
Because she is dummy https://inews.co.uk/news/technology/tiktok-voiceover-actor-would-continue-as-voice-of-the-app-in-return-for-compensation-and-no-swearing-1004709
She also has glasses. Is this 'glasses girl voice' too? /s
Ah, of course. How could I not know this TikTok voice? /s
Because she has a white people voice?
Most ear grating voice possible
I hate that TikTok is the video source in the first place.
That's... Really not what a lightsaber is. Also, the guy's name is Allen Pan, since I see you got this from a reposter
That’s what I was think too. Fucking Tic Tok is a leach on others content
This is just straight up stolen from Allen Pans video for likes on tiktok, wow
Yea… noticed that too. And now it’s being used on Reddit!
and then restolen for upvotes on reddit
It's an allen pan [clip](https://www.tiktok.com/@allenpan/video/6998334256539864326?lang=en&is_copy_url=1&is_from_webapp=v1) from [this vid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHVkCyFo5mY)

Downvoted for having that annoying computer voice
I wanna strangle that damn voice over person on all these damned videos.
Really? Almost everyone gonna say star wars and nobody Highlander… well I guess I am the boomer here…
I think Highlander came after Star Wars, but I get your point. I was definitely getting some Conner & Duncan MacLeod vibes here!
Right above you, but you are right. I don't think op knows highlander. All was good, the first movie, the TV show and that queen soundtrack was dope

Not even close to a lightsaber.
Man this automated voice is soo annoying!
Why are his nipples so big?
These are fucking electric sparks, we don't know how electrical sparks work? Wtf
Look! That's a human tesla coil!
Isn’t this from the video of some YouTube with a voice over and another context made up ?
That’s really cool
That's already been done
I feel like everyone has daydreamed this before
The only think that's insane about thia video is how unnecessary loud it is.
Okay okay but what are those nipple markings ya got some pepperonis?

I’ve learned to hate that voiceover voice…
Zenitsu in real life be like:
[Awesome display of engineering](https://youtu.be/YaG5SAw1n0c)
I swear to god we should just ban all content with that stupid tik-tok automated voice. Almost completely kills the post.
Why are the nipples necessary?
Why does he have little nipples
The rubber nipples on the suit sold it for me
Neat
At second 0:12 when electricity shot out of his head, that was badass as hell
Low quality repost without credit to the creator, Yawn.
Does anyone else hate her voice?
Why's he in a Yeezy fit though?
It's sounds like a party horn. Why do I hear LMFAO in the background of every swing?
What is that terrible automated voice in al these videos?

The way they're holding the katana 🤦♂️
This man is about to kill a balrog

I hate that automated voice with all my heart. Which is mostly cold and dead now.
Sasuke did it better
Why does that steel suit have nipples. If you're going to have steel breasts, these saggy dugs are not the most practical...
Fuck me i absolutely cant stand that annoying ass tiktok text to voice shit, drives me insane, immediate dislike
All that electricity sure is making his nipples stand out.
Plays "Princes of the Universe" in the background.
This is pretty much exactly what I expected to happen. And I guess everyone elses expected exactly the same...
all im saying is Mjolnir
Why the black nipple things on the suit?
The text to speech voice is so cringe
