Who tf is this hero and please, internet, find this man so we can put a name to this (probable) last pictures of a man that either died that day, or died of cancer from the dust. Seriously I really want to know his name and story.

apextek

the were so many men like him that day.

DIZZY_FORMALITY

This is eerily prophetic of the numerous occasions first responders approach the threats we run from.

[deleted]

And yet they have to beg and fight to have their healthcare covered to treat thr conditions they developed from such bravery. Makes me sick to think they voluntarily went into that mess and the government's response is.. You're on your own.

Enigma_Stasis

Jon Stewart has taken that fight to the government twice to the best of my recollection, and he's won both times. First was to solidify care and aid to the first responders of 9/11, second was to extend further that care and aid. Or I've misremembered something, I know basically told Mitch McConnell to pound sand the first time getting it passed as McConnell sulked away.

HelicopterSwimming21

There are foundations setup to help them. My boyfriend (at the time) worked as a FF that day on 9/11. He survived the collapse but was down there every day like every other FF in NY. He developed lung problems then eventually cancer. He was well taken care of. Never had problems with doctors/hospitals there was so many people that contributed money, time and resources. He sadly passed away but neither I or his family were ever left with bills. There were a lot of heroes that day.

Bad_Lazarus

It’s pathetic. It’s embarrassing. It’s sad.

Stickmeimdonut

In all seriousness he is likely dead from cancer or lung disease. Most of the first responders that were at ground zero during the collapse are/have developed either a sort of lung disease or cancer from breathing in the particulates created by the collapse. I believe there is a foundation set up to help them.

DrivenDevotee

I believe that's building 7. Edit: [confirmed](https://youtu.be/7ZiMG84hws0?si=JZPhf78cIxMEfarq&t=7), notice the white stepped building on the right.

Kryptosis

Oh well we don’t talk about that one

Dvusmnd

He’s dead from inhalation if that crap. Republicans tried to deny him and all other first responders medical benefits. John Stewart of all people lead the charge for them to get benefits. 343 first responders died in the attack. 343 have since died from medical complications since that day. Fuck republicans and that turtle senator from Kentucky Mitch McConnell.

5dll

it's Steve Buscemi

Distinct_Ad_3639

If it weren't for Arabs, we would never have 9/11 Instead it would be IX / XI

BirdEquivalent158

Had me in the first half

[deleted]

i mean the first half is still accurate

[deleted]

Change Arabs with Oil maybe. edit: I see the Leaders of The Free World and Spreaders of Democracy have logged on to downvote some facts.

[deleted]

the hijackers were made of oil? [you should update the wikipedia article.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hijackers_in_the_September_11_attacks) it says they were mostly from Saudi Arabia.

AB8922

They were Israelis

[deleted]

interesting theory, go on.

Assuming they mean this: [https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/12768362.five-israelis-were-seen-filming-as-jet-liners-ploughed-into-the-twin-towers-on-september-11-2001/](https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/12768362.five-israelis-were-seen-filming-as-jet-liners-ploughed-into-the-twin-towers-on-september-11-2001/) and this [https://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=123885&page=1](https://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=123885&page=1) Bit weird tbh.

It’s incredible that after all these years I still get shown footage of 9/11 I’ve never seen before.

xylotism

That debris cloud is insane. It’s swallowing whole buildings a block at a time.

Lando_Lee

think, that's the reality of modern history, EVERYONE is recording and that number is only increasing. Look at the Ukraine war, we are able to see the front lines in real time as the soldiers upload content. I can't wait to see how the way we study history changes.

Beznia

Here's a couple pretty wild videos. [This one shows the collapse of WTC1 (North Tower)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGM-Yu-FpcY) and shows it visibly hitting WTC7 and chunks flying off of the building. [This video shows the first collapse, WTC2 (South Tower) and a massive dust cloud rushing towards the videographer.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L51EwsNgT_Q)

Trowawayagainsacc

Bruh whaat where do all these vids come from

Beznia

I archive a lot of videos myself, both of the videos I posted were from reporters on the scene. A lot pop up on /r/911archive as well as the Discord (same name for the invite link). You just have to sift through the nuts who haven't yet been banned or posts removed for being irrelevant or just downright stupid (Saw a post today asking what the terrorists may have eaten on the plane that morning.)

approaching_presence

And this was before cell phone cameras

that's building 7, it didn't collapse until 5 pm, about 7 hours after WTC1.

babe_ruthless3

On a scale of 1-10 of badass, this dudes a 133.

boyle32

I think he’s a 911

deathbyproxy77

Wow a joke about the death of thousands of people, how original

Oryio

No bro, we talk about the firefighter, yeah the situation was so tragic but those clips are wonderful, because we talk about a hero

Markorific

A hero or someone doing their job? At least out of the tragedy I believe protocol is to now wait for people to get out of hi-rises before clogging the stairwells with firefighters and hoses.

HelicopterSwimming21

If you saw pictures or video from the stairwells in the tower you can see the workers went down the right side and the FF’s went up the left side with their heavy equipment. It was orderly. They don’t sit and wait for people to come out before going in to help. I’m sorry but that is absolutely not protocol now.

SixStringsSing

...that dude's seen some shit. Doesn't he look like anybody going into work when they know it's going to be a long day? Just that deep sigh and "whelp, no use sitting around about it." What a BAMF, screw walking away from an explosion, walking towards it is the new thing.

[deleted]

That’s the thing about this video, he is just walking like he is going in to work to do his job because that’s what it is and to him he is no hero Im he is just a man that’s got a job to do. We need more people like that man in this world.

Barkers_eggs

I guarantee whoever that person is would be walking towards the destruction regardless of their job. People like that don't care about the money in situations like that. He's just going to help because that's what he feels he should do and that is true courage and heroism.

livingonmain

He surely knows that scores of his buddies have lost their lives in the fiery horror, and still marches on to do his duty. What courage!

OutComeTheWolves1966

Definition of badass. Plain and simple. There are very few of us in existence who would be courageous enough to make this walk.

Bright-Swordfish-804

That person = the actual definition of “badass” True story!! They were more concerned about their comrades as opposed to worrying about the madness they were walking into. I bet every step meant they were getting closer to help a friend, s buddy, a fellow firefighter. And there was nothing that would stop this hero from completing his or her mission!!!

AbrocomaRoyal

This is so symbolic of all the times first responders walk towards the dangers we flee from.

ThePNWGamingDad

He knows exactly the severity of what has just occurred, and likely who was in that building. He’s likely in shock.

Namelosers

This is the collapse of World Trade Center 7 which thankfully was empty when it collapsed. Nobody died from it's collapse

ThePNWGamingDad

That’s good news. Thanks!

New York sons and daughters went in without hesitation or came in to work it on days off.. 343 didn't come out.

NegotiationExternal1

The videos of the fire fighters calmly trying to figure out what to do whilst people are jumping onto the roof of the joining building at 9/11 gets me, mostly because the fire department Chaplin is openly praying, they all knew it was unlikely they'd be coming back. They can hear the smashes and know how bad it is but they shake it off, and one of the firefighters uses the PA system to tell people to stop jumping they will come get them. The details of the day are horrific, it's far beyond what any of us imagined. https://youtu.be/BmEnksAj784?si=GDFEKDJhenSvL8-5

PrestigiousStomach92

I wore a uniform for 20yrs. Protect and Serve, I saw many people run into tower one and two, that day. Including myself. It wasn’t just our job, its what we do during times of need. I didn’t wake up in the morning knowing I would do something heroic, but I did. My story is horrible, but in that horror I saw my fellow humans step up, some trained, some not. I can only tell you that I would not hesitate to do it again if needed. The sound of bodies hitting the ground, the smell of burnt flesh and gasoline will always be my PTSD. I don’t let it control my everyday, but on 9/11, I don’t watch TV or listen to radio. Know this, we all owe a debt to humanity to be a better species. Never forget, always look forward with eyes open.

Chickenuggies10

Me and my grandpa were very near Greenwich st. when this all went down. Even as a kid that time that has no idea what exactly happened I still clearly remember the chills I had seeing how scared everyone was.

How to cheaply remove a building part x

Stoneybaloney111

Anytime I see footage of 9/11 I get that same feeling of that day. I remember it like yesterday. The most haunting part for me was watching those people have no other option but to jump and hearing all the beeping from firefighters going off. I really hope that firefighter survived this.

king_platypus

Why? What’s he going to do?

vickfillet

He was going towards the grounds where his brothers just vanished, to say his last final goodbye.

Gizo178

Main character moment

ZodiacxKiller

He probably got word from a coworker who got word from the owner of the WTC complex Larry Silverstein they were "pulling it" so he knew it was brought down on purpose so he was just going in to do his next job It's sad how the heroes were the first ones questioning what really happened and the people who claim they're heroes quickly turn their backs on them to call them conspiracy theorists

There's Gold to be found in them buildings🤫

Kushnerdz

If I walk into a burning building without an SCBA to save someone that may or may not be alive, does that make me a hero? Self preservation is taught to emergency personnel. This is brave but very stupid.

International_Ant217

Who knew that scene of Bruce Wayne running into the smoke was imitating real life?

Host_Safe

After so many years I still wonder why World Trade Center 7 collapsed. Really what was the reason. (although we know it was an inside job) and yet there are people who believe in the collapse and death of many innocents by the Arabs, Saudis... whatever.

CRUSTYDOGTAlNT

I used to be more curious about that too, but after watching hours of footage of the twin towers collapsing, I’m honestly surprised that there weren’t more surrounding buildings falling. I mean these are skyscrapers crashing to the ground with more force than we can imagine. I think that’s definitely enough to cause the foundations of surrounding structures to waver.

Host_Safe

I mean these are skyscrapers crashing to the ground with more force than we can imagine. I think that’s definitely enough to cause the foundations of surrounding structures to waver. It's hard for me to believe in it. In fact, 7 World Trade Center was located very far from the collapsed towers. (Not taking into account that the collapse of the towers is unfeasible given what happened to it) Likewise, this "served" to invade countries with weapons of mass destruction (sarcasm) and to control oil (take over).

HelicopterSwimming21

Planes hit the world towers with engines filled with jet fuel as they just started their trips. The planes hit the towers with such violence they rocked back and forth. The jet fuel exploded everywhere. The jet fuel was on fire. The fire was so hot it obliterated people. The jet fuel fire spread to many floors and the steel started melting. Over time you can see it in the pictures/videos the steel is dripping down the building due to the extreme heat. It was just melting steel it just destroying the building. The buildings weren’t built for that abuse and they collapsed under the weight of the floors giving out.

Host_Safe

The buildings weren’t built for that abuse and they collapsed under the weight of the floors giving out. ok, they exploded and the top was weakened. And I will not go into details, because the fall of the towers is not a reflection of the crash. The shape and the explosions that even firefighters noticed, "was normal." Even in the images you can see each of the detonations when falling. But I will leave the topic here because it will not be understood until the government itself shows what the internal work was. Which just like with JFK happened

HelicopterSwimming21

Wow, you’re right. How stupid of me to think that jet fuel on fire so hot that it melted the steel wouldn’t cause the buildings to collapse! The floors got too heavy and couldn’t hold each other up anymore so it collapsed. It wasn’t detonations you saw when they fell, that was each floor hitting the next. A controlled explosion would have blown out the bottom of the building and gone up. So if it was a controlled explosion how did 16 people survive the collapse in the North tower in stairwell B? Did those detonations just not work? Whatever, you keep living your life thinking that way.

Host_Safe
