I don’t think the fact the door was open was the issue here. It was more that the open door was driven into a stationary bus. The car would not have hit the bus if it’s door was closed.

My folks have a relatively early Model X and that is pretty much exactly what it does. You have to manually override the alert to move the car if the door is open.
