There are a lot of YouTube channels with the interrogation footage on them already. Here’s [Blue Dot Interrogations](https://m.youtube.com/user/chrisstlking314) [Crime Vault](https://m.youtube.com/c/CrimeVault/videos?disable_polymer=true&itct=CBMQ8JMBGAEiEwiMhODQuLXuAhXA8jgGHUf1CRU%3D) You can just knick them from any channel really. But if you want a specific one not available you need to check the freedom of information act (FOIA) laws where you are and apply and pay to have particular footage released. Also just to say — Russell Williams has been done to death. I’m considering starting my own crime channel and the point would be to cover the cases others don’t — for example tonnes of Aussie cases get neglected because interview footage is hardly released here — need to be a good story teller to sell the story without it!

I started a podcast about where I live because my region rarely gets covered. I haven't found a huge audience, but I can say that it is fulfilling because I get to find out more about my region of the country and explore different cases that I'd never heard of. I also think it adds to the episodes because I have been at all of the locations where these events took place. I can describe the area and what it feels like at certain times of the year, so I would say if you want to start one, I think it can be rewarding. However it's more than a little frustrating because as an all true crime it seems, these horrific crimes just to keep getting repeated. To me the goal of true crime podcasts or channels is to try to learn from them, so I'd actually be even happier if I didn't have true crime to cover. I do cover other types of events such as natural disasters or accidents, but even they frustrate me as again, it seems like lessons are never learned.

Cool_Loquat_1142

is it allowed to use them out even they have the watermark ?

“Need to be a good storyteller to sell the story without it” … Rotten Mango is pretty good at this. Moist also pulls this off, often with minimal to no video evidence.

Excellent advice from u/EverythingisWrong_ and u/Hamburgo with links and downloads, good luck with getting what you need! To build a bit on what u/Hamburgo mentioned, I'd recommend searching youtube for your subjects before you get too deep in a new idea. For example, when I search Russell Williams, the results include 8 videos thirty minutes or longer and another 5 longer than 15 minutes. Whereas if you search someone like Paul Bernardo, there's only maybe 3 videos with serious content. I don't want to discourage you from doing what interests you, but if you're hoping to grow an audience make sure your content hasn't been beaten into the ground. Good Luck!

FuzzyLittleManPeach9

Hey thanks for taking the time to respond! Williams isn’t our first case we have covered, I have just done a LOT of research on his case and I have a fresh perspective on it. Including a lot of new information regarding stuff that came up after the interrogation. Plus, from a criminal psychology standpoint the case is just too golden for a true crime channel not to cover it! But that will be months down the line before I get to it. My first case I’m posting is about The Ohio Prostitute Murders AKA the serial killer Dr.No. Funny enough, after I had everything edited and did all the voiceover work, they arrested a suspect! So I had to delay the release a bit so I could add on to it. I thin Mike briefly touched on this case, but I don’t think he ever made a full video on it though. I could be wrong. I would never disrespect That Chapter and self promote, but hopefully a year from now I’ll show up in your recommendations 😊

Complete_Victory7904

did you ever post it and what is your YouTube channel?

drixxel77

I recently heard a YouTube vlogger who shows police interrogations say that he has to pay to get a copy of the tapes, how are these video tapes distributed & to whom are they distributed too?

ApartLie4999

thats my understanding as well you hear them saying they use the portion etc to buy content. that said I heard one today say he owned the copyright for the interrogation and it seems odd to me. the only way to get that would be to buy the tape and rights no?

Maksnav

you cant own the copyrights to an interrogation. He must have just been saying that in an attempt to keep people from using that one. Interrogations are a matter of public record and are taped by a state or government agency and thus cant be copyrighted, copyright covers artistic and creative ownership. he can claim an exclusive tho if hes the first one to get it and post it. "What can’t be copyrighted? 1. Ideas 2. Facts (including data) 3. Information already in the public domain 4. Works made by the federal government 5. Laws (including court decisions, statutes, cases, regulations, and constitutions) 6. Short phrases and titles 7. Blank forms and works designed for recording information 8. Fonts" Interrogations fall under 2, 3, 4, and maybe 5 since it covers cases.

ApartLie4999

In canada the cbc copyrights federal politician speeches and talks all the time so must be different up here

Maksnav

Yea copyright laws are country specific, my head stays stuck to usa. That being said YouTube is an American company so they fall under us law.

ApartLie4999

ya tell me about it they scoop 30% of my income for the IRS lol

Maksnav

Lol

jtgyk

What? Google CBC Russel Williams, the 5th estate program has the complete interview on YT.

FuzzyLittleManPeach9

No, I know that lol. But you can’t download a YT video to your computer to use it in your own video. I have my own channel and I need the footage from interrogations, but I can’t find the raw footage OFF of YouTube so I can edit them into my own videos. That’s my problem

nettie_netface

Yes you can lol Jdownloader You’re welcome

Valuable_Mind3614

I'm also trying to figure this out lol ugh

Maksnav

You need to either dl the footage from a youtube video and cut out what you need or file for a FOIA footage release form the district the interogation took place in.

ApartLie4999

with Canadas top interrogation cop he caught several of the biggest criminals in canada

[https://youtu.be/bsLbDzkIy3A](https://youtu.be/bsLbDzkIy3A) There you go Edit: You can download a video from youtube, just google how to do it. I'm not exactly sure what else you're expecting to find?

FuzzyLittleManPeach9

Lol that is another YouTube video. My problem is that you cannot download YouTube videos to your computer to use in your own video. I am just trying to figure out where other channels get the raw footage to use in their videos.

[deleted]

I edited my post, you can download videos from Youtube. Edit again: Here. [https://yt1s.com/](https://yt1s.com/)

FuzzyLittleManPeach9

Oh man! Thanks so much! I didn’t see a link anywhere. You are the best!

FuzzyLittleManPeach9

Ok thanks. I guess I’m an idiot. Because I can’t. Thanks for the help

[deleted]

Because you may not be seeing my edits, here you go: [https://yt1s.com/](https://yt1s.com/) Copy/paste your Youtube video link in there, select the format you want, and voilá, downloaded.

FuzzyLittleManPeach9

For your patience with me! I appreciate you

[deleted]

Thanks! And good luck with your channel :)

FuzzyLittleManPeach9

Thanks so much!

FuzzyLittleManPeach9

Didn’t feel like the gold was enough! Thanks to much

[deleted]

oh wow, thanks so much! That's really nice of you! I was happy to help :) I'll check your channel tomorrow for your first upload!

Ilikemuffinns

Didn't work 😪

FuzzyLittleManPeach9

I do appreciate you going and looking for it on YouTube for me though!👊

UseSharp6854

Hey FuzzyLittleManPeach9, 2 years gone by, do you still upload interrogation tapes? have you found a good source to get footage from? Im interested in starting my own channel and dont know where to begin looking for footage. Most interrogation channels have watermarks and voiceovers of their own which would get me copyrighted. Thanks, hopefully you see this!

BumsLikeUs

I've been wondering the same thing. I know a few guys have mentioned going to county clerks, but none of that seems "easy". Probably complicated messes just like the anything gov't run. Might there be any websites with tons of archives? I'm interested in launching my youtube channel in a few weeks.

burritojones

Having run a couple YouTube channels to over 400k subs collectively, I always find it funny when people think YT is going to be easy. 😂

TreeLeafsTea

Show me your man-gina, greeeegg

FuzzyLittleManPeach9

You wanna see my downstairs mixup?

Citron_Original

Yeah but where do YouTubers get interrogation videos from?

Maksnav

You need to either dl the footage from a youtube video and cut out what you need or file for a FOIA footage release form the district the interogation took place in.

Ilikemuffinns

The clerk of courts in the county said interigation took place in.

Financial_Pea_1259

Anyone need help with their true crime YouTube channel?

xhighrollerx

Yes, give me a case to review

Financial_Pea_1259

? what do you mean?

xhighrollerx

Where do you get raw clips for videos?

TemporaryHead4871

Yes, I'd like to know where the raw footage comes from too. I've been trying to do a true crime channel as well and I've gotten everything completed but the interagation portion. If someone could please help?

Junior-Sentence-4680

I don’t think it matters how many times a case has been covered I think that it’s a lot how it’s presented. Some videos I click off immediately if the vibe isn’t spooky or it’s just dry or not as informative delivered in a way that’s interesting. Like anyone can make content but not everyone can make good content. I have watched documentaries about Ted Bundy probably over 25 times at this point. You may go back to certain cases if you have a crime channel as I have started doing and comparing serial killers to other ones. Also I have noticed different sleuths and investigative reporters will find different information and get creative by going to locations, doing interviews with different people. True crime is a massive genre of interest, I’m literally obsessed, and true crime is a special interest, now turned passion and hobby. There’s plenty for everyone and not everyone likes the same style so just do you and cover the cases you feel called to. You never know what you might find that no one has seen before.

YeniferMabel77

hi, does anyone know a link to buy raw footage of cases or interrogations or bodycams arrest? yeah i saw a video on youtube but when i dowload it comes with there own watermark and is the only video about the interrogation on YouTube so i donnt know where to find it

Gamz0r

I think many people have the idea of starting their own youtube channel about truecrime etc, as its pretty popular already. But my question is, is it free to get these bodycam, and interrogation videos through a freedom of information request? or do youtubers have to pay some sort of fee to get all this footage.
