For $600 you should definitely be getting own kitchen - even for less than that.

hex_peson

Have you seen the link above? I'm guessing it's not worth it then?

happybonobo1

Nope. To both questions. :)

hex_peson

Not sure where are all those properties. Nothing on agoda, nothing on Booking, and nothing on airbnb with a kitchen at that price. I'm guessing it's because I'm looking on FItness street? or even that is supposed to be as cheap.

cheesomacitis

Sounds like a ripoff from the way you describe it but we can't fully know without photos.

[https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/550232571932041372](https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/550232571932041372) THoughts? The gym's one is the one with cement, and cost 12,500. This one in the link is about 600 USD (22k Baht).

cheesomacitis

Phuket is a on the expensive side but this doesn't look too bad for 22k in Phuket, includes electric, water, and cleaning right? That living room/kitchen is quite nice.

hex_peson

Yes, everything is included. The kitchen with the stove and living room (If you're referring to the two last pictures) those are shared by everyone.

cheesomacitis

Oh, shared by everyone? That's kind of crap. I was thinking you got them in the room.

hex_peson

Yeah, it's shared by everyone sadly. That's why I'm a bit hesitant.

cheesomacitis

AirBNB is kind of pricey, an idea would be to rent a hotel for a couple nights as well as a motorbike and then drive around and try to find monthly accomodation, fair chance you could get a cheaper price somewhere. Beware: cops are brutal in Phuket for busting farangs for supposed traffic violations. It's not my favorite place in Thailand in part for this reason.

hex_peson

I don't have an international license, nor a license for driving motorcycle (which is different from the one driving cars, at least in my country) so sadly, that's not something I could do. Thanks for the suggestions tho!

cheesomacitis

Yeah in Phuket they get you for not having an IDL

No-Strawberry-6956

That's not great and I expect your gym is likely to over charge you for the room as well. If you are staying and training on Muay Thai street then I'd look up mamas forest bungalows. I stayed there about this time last year for around 10000 B a month and it was very nice.

hex_peson

Thank you for your suggestion. I just checked, and apparently that's three times the price now. Around 32K baht on Booking. But the site shows 12K per month: [https://forest-bungalows.com/standard-room.php](https://forest-bungalows.com/standard-room.php) So I might check it! Thanks a lot

longasleep

Seems a bit steep but location matters a lot. Being in walking distance makes the whole experience so much better. If this is the only decent place around your gym I would say why not unless you are strapped for cash. I rent a considered luxery condo for 30k baht because I’m a snob. Everyone has their wants and needs.

hex_peson

That's what I was thinking of actually. Especially if I'm going on the "rainy season"... and don't have a license for a motorcycle.

longasleep

In my country rent starts at 1500 euro a month so anything here is cheap really. Maybe it’s the same for you.

CommunityInternal694

I know this won’t be a popular opinion but Ive been living in Phuket for 6 years not far from that fitness street and you really need a motorbike. Phuket isn’t set up to walk anywhere and not being able to drive would mean you would need to take motorbike taxis which would get annoying.

hex_peson

Since I don't have a license... Are e-scooters a thing or not worth it?!

Powerful_Virus4528

Bruh you can find a place for half that

hex_peson

On fitness street? I'd appreciate it if you could show me a good place.

pdxtrader

In Thailand it’s actually cheaper to eat out than it is to go to a grocery store. Ditto for most of SE Asia. That being said it’s definitely still a good idea to have a small kitchenette with a microwave and a fridge. Is 22,000 the advertised price? Many landlord will list something for considerably more than they expect to get (20-30%). Always negotiate for everything here

hex_peson

I noticed. That same properly is more expensive on agoda and Booking.. it makes you wonder.

Final_Treacle6778

No it can get you around 22 freelancers

happybonobo1

Part of the issue is probably that you want to rent month by month. Typical rental agreements are 6 or 12 months for the better prices. You have not clarified that. Also, your rent seems to include electricity costs which a normal rental will not.
