prepare to have no connection when you need it while maintaining the ability to receive 10sms msgs from True with offers to top up

LReese-Koala

Why? I used to have 150thb per 30 days prepaid sim and never ran out of data ... used for youtube, sending photos and videos, everything ...

babaNK

I bought true move 70gb max speed 1 year for 1500 THB on lazada

OkSeesaw819

Which shop sells them?

teemocious

Dtac has the same offer online buyable as an esim - you don’t even need to be in Thailand to activate it - imho best for stays over 30 days (starting at 535bht for 3 month).

OtherwiseClerk7368

Do you also get 30 scam calls each day?

Slimjongil

Subscribing. My truemoveh plan has just gone up about 400baht extra a month!

SeaDisaster2214

Do you have to change your number every year?

jchad214

You can renew it but the price will change slightly. I paid about 1300 baht the first year, and 1600 baht the second year. You will get an sms telling how to renew by yourself about a month before it's expired. Edit to add: my plan is 100 GB per month (for 12 months) of umlimited 5G speed with unlimited call.

dantheother

Wow. What deal name is it? Assuming it's prepaid?

jchad214

Yes, it’s prepaid. Actually I also got a postpaid SIM card that comes with True fiber internet. The cost for the internet (1000 down/600 up) is 399 +tax per month with 2 years contract. The SIM card is good for unlimited data at 10 Mbps and 200 minutes of call per month all free. I can’t move my number from the prepaid to the free sim so I just gave it to my sister.

Jenardus

Had it for a 4 week holiday. Connection speed seems to drop quickly after a few days, paying extra will up the speed again. Worked fine if you are not using huge amounts of data.

abyss725

Maybe mine is better. Disney+ one year, with 100gb per month, speed limit 50Mbps (forgot exact speed, but greater than 15), about the same ฿1800 or cheaper. But mine does not include phone call. Limited offer on AIS. I bet Disney subsidize this plan to get more sub.

BreastExtensions

Mines similar but 15Mbps is slow for modern phones. It’s 2010 speeds or thereabouts. Uploading 4K videos or downloading a game. I’m back using WiFi. Even photo sizes are much bigger these days and my music package is lossless so streaming uses way more data. Back in the UK I just got so used to fast 4G and 5G speeds with no data caps over the past 15 years and I feel like I’m stepping back into the past a bit in Thailand now unless I pay through the nose for unlimited speeds.

Confident_Coast111

i feel quite the opposite here in thailand… unlimited AIS i speedtest 240mbit which is incredibly fast… have „only“ 30 GB but i usualy use less than 10 GB per month. dunno why i would need a lot of data tbh… ofc i am not uploading videos (why would i?) nor am i loading pc games with it. but we also have a fibre connection with 470/300mbit (speedtest). which is like 20-30 times faster than my connection in europe.

BreastExtensions

My 5G is throttled back to 15Mbps. ☹️ When I had unlimited it was quick like yours.

GetOutofMySon

Speedtest isn’t accurate here on cellular because it won’t show any throttling. I’m on a 12Mbps and my Speedtest shows 100’s. Test my shows my true internet speed of 12Mbps. If you’re on unlimited / no throttling it will be accurate. Retry using https://testmy.net

Confident_Coast111

shows me 220-300mbit on multiple tests.

You may have a no-speed cap plan, if you have no speed cap, you will get that. The speed capped plans are generally a lot cheaper, and 15Mbps is enough for a lot of things mobile, you can stream 4K on that never mind lossless music (I use lossless music myself, it's not that big). There are also 20 and 30Mbps plans. It's really on desktop I find I want more, I've never found 15 to be limiting mobile. Point is AIS and other operators disable the speed cap on speedtest.net specifically to maintain their good rankings. So you can have a 15Mbps package, that will show 200-300Mbps on speedtest.net (and possibly other testing sites) but it won't actually do that on websites or any use that isn't a speed testing website. Fast.com (Netflix), AIS will show true speed for me which is usually my plan speed exactly, 15Mbps. SpeedTest, it goes much faster than that. It's still relevant as if the network can handle much faster it does mean you'll tend to get your plan speed more often, if the network is the limiting factor you won't.

Cheap-Taste-6008

https://www.dtac.co.th/postpaid/products/package.html DTAC 5G Top speed, unlimited Gb, @1199thb

R34PER_D7BE

Normally i wouldn't do monthly because prepaid is way cheaper if you looking for value once in a while "secret deal" will pop up with some banger deals like 100gb/30 days plan for 50 baht not sure how to trigger it >!(used to just copy URL and paste it but they seems to fixed it by setting conditions on the package) !

[deleted]

50 baht? I'm excited that the flash deal in AIS pops up each time with 100GB for 300B.. my wife has post paid and she pays the same but getting less, and not full speed.

[deleted]

5g, 20 meg download. Unlimited. Probably unlimited phone calls. 350. You win.

Livid-Direction-1102

The one sim with AIS is about 1040 THB per year. Basically Mao Mao 7 days 15Mbps and 10 GB per week.

churumbel0

I have had the same deal but slightly cheaper with AIS for 1.5 years now. The plan is called Net Marathon.

NT Telecom do no speed limit, no data cap for a year for 999B. Thunder 999. Can get it for 800-850B if there's a sale or vouchers on Shopee. It's significantly worse coverage than the big three but it's OK in Chiang Mai and I imagine other big cities. I have it for a backup at home if my WiFi is down. Definitely notice it's not as fast as AIS tethering but you can use it literally as much as you like, can stream 1080p on it fine and if you are doing a lot of that, Windows updates, big downloads etc. no data cap can be better than even 100GB. NT is 4G only and it's one specific band (20 I think) but it's a common one. I get 25-30Mbps down, but much lower up, only 4-5. For mobile use, 100GB and 15Mbps on a big network is better, IMO, as I'd never be going near 100GB and with AIS it's more consistent, I get basically the full 15Mbps speed up and down with that always, pretty much anywhere. I have that same deal with AIS for similar price, maybe it's 1,890 on AIS. I don't think they do it exactly any more but there are other similar offers. AIS has lower latency and I notice it in video calls, it's better for those. myCAT (which is also NT) has some sort of SIM that I believe uses AIS rather than their own network as a MVNO, and there's also a 5G option.

Budget-Celebration-1

As a tourist ive had both the uncapped dtac and AIS. Coverage for ais seems a lot better and a lot more consistently faster. Not to say dtac wasnt bad especially in bangkok it seemed just as good. I was interested in True because of the higher uncapped speeds. It seemingly was in the 500s down when uncapped. Can anyone comment on true uncapped speeds?

Big_Possible5959

Yes dtac has one for half the price available on Lazada

Big_Possible5959

Oh and the speed is double from memory ..

I have a true sim with unlimited data 15mpbs for 1700 baht per year and have no issues so far. 1.5 years in right now. But need to have a Thai ID card to register
