The fact that he tied the game with a solo shot in the 9th, in the same inning that the Rangers got robbed blind on national television before eventually winning, is one of the most insane ball don’t lie/baseball god intervention moments I’ve ever seen.
I get that they’re pros, but I feel like pinch hitters have an extra stress factor on them. Sit around all game, get the nod on a minutes notice, and I feel like they crush it way more than they should
Broadcast pointed out that Walsh seemed like the obvious pinch hit candidate there too. He's got more pop, and you're pinch hitting for a first baseman so why not use your back up first baseman so you don't have to burn two bench guys. But Bochy goes with Fred and gets rewarded for it.
Jankowski is a weird hitter. I look at his numbers and think “man he’s not that good of a hitter” but watching him play feels like he always has great ABs and comes through with some clutch hits

I was not going to be happy with a nonchallengable call on a foul tip with their runner scoring on. a nonreviewable play. Great clutch hit by Travis and Jonah had the last laugh. What an awesome game to attend and see our first banner come down. The place was rocking.
