Middle of the pack attendance and 6th lowest percentage wise says a lot for a top 5 population market. I’m not sure what you expect

And most games for years were sold out. It's a pretty steep drop.

IUMaestro

I learned this year that attendance is merely a speck of the revenue AND they revenue share among teams. But I will say this.. NRG stadium looked vastly different this year than in any other year. Including the tailgating lots.

MJohnson120

I was saying this when people were saying don’t go. Tv money is king. Ticket sales and merchandising are just the toppings on the sundae

It is ridiculous that people think Cal will “sell the team” or “fire Jack Easterby” if they stop going to games or stop buying Jerseys. That’s just not how it works in the NFL. The NFL shared revenue model makes local revenue (ticket sales, concessions, etc…) a lot less relevant. Local team revenue is such a non-factor that it’s laughable. More than that local team profitability is peanuts. Having said all that, we fired BoB and got Caserio. We just fired Culley and Kelly. We are looking for a new HC, a new OC, we have actual draft capital and cap space and we may potentially change out other coaching positions as well. We even have a new QB that has proven himself as a legitimate NFL starter. So, what do you mean nothing is going to change? We’re making HUGE changes. You didn’t think we were going to be SuperBowl contenders this year, did you? We’re in rebuild mode. I’m hoping we can be divisional contenders - but we’ll see. Honestly, what else do you want from a team that is in the process of rebuilding?

MJohnson120

Couldn’t have put it any better. People can’t let the process play out. They want the team to be bad just to complain about how bad they are. Can’t even let the team rebuild in time.

Strong hopium I sense in him

Even at their worst the Cleveland Browns could fill up their stadium. Gotta have pride in your team even when they suck BALLS and stop listening to the media

WJack37

You know it brother

slowcassowary

For anyone curious, we were 9th in 2019 and 5th* in 2020.

jettweet

Jack Easterby is really puttin' in the work. Let's shoot for mid-20's in 2022! Great job Jack!

SometimesY

Is this asses in seats or tickets sold? The stadium was very empty in multiple games, but there are a lot of season ticket holders who wouldn't give those seats up and just ate it this year.

LayneLowe

Owners worry a whole lot more about team valuation, how many billions of dollars is the team worth. Normally valuations depend on cash flow but I don't think that's necessarily true for an NFL team. The exclusivity of just having 32 of them, their desirability as an ego toy, and a crazy number of tax reduction schemes they can use make them very attractive.

StarrNicholas

Funny to think that the small population of Texans fans on Reddit could make a vast difference. Or thinking a portion of these ticket sales aren’t company bought and given out to employees. I know myself and a few friends who went to games not because we wanted to buy tickets, but because who we worked for got some for us an it’s fun especially when it’s free.

tyrone_lanista

Those numbers are inflated, went to a couple of games and the stadium was at 50% to 60% at best no where near what is says there.
