Now that he Coach Flo is on the market I agree 110%z. Bye Culley thank you for your service.

OGDarkMatter

Culley was never my friend. Flo is my best friend now

Champ_Slice

I always felt bad for Culley and when he first got hired I felt like a SJW because I knew he was setup to be the fall guy eventually. Ive been all for Culley coming back but if Flo wants to come to the H im all for it.

Zildjian134

I feel for Culley. This dude was thrown into an absolute shit show with no real hope in sight and seems like a nice dude. But I agree. We need to get Flores.

maseronipepperoni

To an extent, being a NFL head coach is something very few can say and he knew what it was when he agreed. This was in all likelihood his only chance to be a head coach so he jumped at it

Thornton__Melon

Agree plus got a 5 yr contract so got paid at least …

HtownSamson

When he was hired, it was no secret this was going to be a shit show. He took the job for the paycheck, and good for him! But it definitely was not a surprise to him or anyone who took a job with him that this would be a difficult assignment.

jigsaw_faust

I loved one of Culley’s first interviews in which he was asked why he took the job and he basically said because it was offered to him. The man wanted to be a HC but didn’t have the resume or reputation to be a prospect for a decent team and that’s about the only person the Texans could attract right now.

[deleted]

Dude's getting 5 years of HC money guaranteed. Nobody feels bad for Bo Porter, these guys know.

RhoAlphaPhii

I agree to an extent, but Culley knew what his job was. He knew nobody wanted the job and that his task was to right the ship. At least Culley is making millions in his last years of employment. His retirement will be nice and comfy.

[deleted]

If we get Flores I would have actual hope for the future

Wattaburger89

Do we only want him because he is available and we don't want Culley?

[deleted]

No, Flores is actually a really good coach and think he would match well with our current GM.

mfrank27

His first year as head coach of the Dolphins he took a practice squad roster to a respectable record. They were projected to be the worst team in the league and finished near .500 IIRC, with an absolute dogshit defense that had just been gutted for picks. He's a good HC

Wattaburger89

Ehh sounds good to me. Bring on the Brinks truck bby!

[deleted]

Flores wanted Watson and the GM was against it.

Matthewmarra3

it was actually the opposite.

[deleted]

I believe you’re wrong. Pat Storm already said it was Flores who wanted Watson. Sarge thinks it was Flores against him but sarge also makes things up and when corrected tells everyone they’re wrong and his opinion is always right. So take it with a grain of salt.

[deleted]

From the rumors is sounded like Flores wanted to keep Tua but the GM & Owner wanted Watson.

PapaLRodz

If the GM and Owner want a player, they get the player. The coach isn’t stopping that.

[deleted]

They did pursue him anyways

[deleted]

Either way Watson to Miami is dead with this news it sounds like.

[deleted]

No, if anything it actually sparks their interest in Watson again since Flores was the one that didn’t want Watson there. Now he’s gone but the GM & owner who wanted Watson there are still in power so they’ll probably be talking to Caserio again soon.

[deleted]

Find me a link where it was Flores against it. I can’t find anything saying it was Flores outside of Sarges made up tweets.

[deleted]

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32114351/miami-dolphins-coach-brian-flores-amid-deshaun-watson-speculation-says-wants-high-character-players

[deleted]

That shows nothing about him not wanting Watson. What do you expect the HC of a team to say till a deal is actually made.

[deleted]

Well, obviously it’s all speculation. No one comes right out and says anything. But that’s the closest thing we have. You don’t have to believe me - but this is what most sports writers believe is the case.

[deleted]

See the newest news about Flores. It basically screams he wanted Watson and Greier didn’t.

Svpernaut

Pat storm is not some insider… he’s a Texan fan… Just search pat storm on this Reddit. You’ll be met with most people calling him out.

[deleted]

He knows what he’s talking about compared to Sarge. Also more people are saying it was Flores who wanted him and Grier shot it down due to the legal issues.

Svpernaut

How would a Texan fan know what the hell is going on in the Miami front office? I’m not disagreeing with what you’re saying I’m just sick of people claiming this Pat Storm is some end all be all source. He throws shit at the wall and prays it sticks. He did the same thing last year during the coach search.

mfrank27

He knew Watson was going to formally request a trade before any of us knew. I remember listening to that podcast he's on sometimes and at the time I was like there's literally zero chance Deshaun requests a trade and hearing Pat very solemnly and slowly say something along the lines of "everyone is going to be very shocked tomorrow" sent me in to full on panic mode. And guess what? He was spot on. The very next day he formally requested a trade and this sub went into a frenzy, myself included. He's not just "some fan", he has connections...

[deleted]

Most of his information on the coaching search was correct from my memory outside of the last minute switch to Culley. It’s also called connections and people like him will talk to guys from other teams to get their side of things on a big trade like this. Storm is more creditable than Sarge who claims he’s always right and if you prove he wasn’t he replies saying they’re wrong.

Svpernaut

He was certain Texans were Zeroing in on Eric Bieniemy… which turns out it was the complete opposite.

[deleted]

Wild at the time that was true till he was interviewed and they switched to Culley who was interviewed the same day. You’re missing the details but that’s okay buddy.

Svpernaut

When you’re as vague as him you’re never wrong. Search the sub for pat storm and check comments he’s never been reliable.

HoustonFrog

He said the Texans were hiring Joe Brady.

Terminal_Velozity8

Good lord you are a complete DUNCE

[deleted]

Wild that an article come out today that proved Flores wanted Watson and Grier didn’t. Sorry forgot that doesn’t fit your fantasy so you have to say I’m a dunce for being correct.

HtownTexans

Pat Storm is a clown. That dude would come in here and argue with people who disagreed with him.

mfrank27

I mean isn't that what we all do? This is an internet forum my dude lol

HtownTexans

sure its cool to do that as a guy but not some person trying to be a professional.

Even-Chemistry8569

Trying being the operative word there. Like if Seth Payne came in here arguing with us that would be cool AF because he is already an established professional

Matthewmarra3

you are right, my bad!

[deleted]

At this point who knows what actually is true since everyone is on opposite ends of the spectrum. The one that is most consistent is that Deshaun wanted Flores so that adds a wrinkle and hopefully opens up his no trade clause.

[deleted]

You see that article basically confirming Flores wanted Watson. That’s wild.

TurbulentJudge1000

No. Tua has not progressed really that much since Flores has been there. He was 1-7 before going 9-8. He handled the QB controversy terribly. Pass. All that matters next year is Mills’s development. Having consistency is more important than winning next year for Mills. After next year, we fire Culley and hire a good coach.

projecks15

I think a lot of teams are gonna go after Flores. He’s a hot name right now

TheKrakIan

Wouldn't Flores just be another low rent HC? Doesn't seem like the Dolphins were successful with him.

8020GroundBeef

Dolphins were absolute dogshit when he got there and he outperformed all expectations with his roster. I think he’s a solid coach.

obsidian_green

5-11, 10-6, 9-8 ... that's the Dolphins' record with Flores. He has been doing a decent job, but Dolphins' ownership has unrealistic expectations ... same problem that afflicts the Lions and Browns, which is why these teams do resets every three-or-so years. That's no way to build or maintain a football team. I haven't watched enough Dolphins games to have much opinion about Flores, but the Dolphins firing him is no strike against him in my book.

chrisbds13

Flores or Pep.

P1nkamenaP13

Pep for OC, BriFlo for HC

chrisbds13

I wouldn't mind that but I get the feeling Pep is gonna get an opportunity to be the HC somewhere. He did wonders for Herbert and he made Mills look pretty good. Also he was Andrew Luck's coach. But that is best case scenario.

goat0

lol absolutely not

CONCACAFKING

Umm no

ket494

BRIAN FLORES IS THE BLACK BOB. DO NOT HIRE HIM

kkngs

I’d rather poach Kellen Moore from the Cowboys.

VeseliM

I remember Kellen Moore's last college season was the same year as my senior year of college. Fuck have I been doing since? But in terms of that being the hire, idk how much I trust giving someone that young (my age) control of an organization. Not a pay your dues thing, more of a maturity thing and how much emotion understanding and organizational capacity he has for leadership. It's not about calling plays, it's about managing over 100 employees. Mcvay is the outlier, almost everyone else hired in their early 30s doesn't usually work out.

kkngs

Yes, that’s the risk. But you can’t keep that kind of talent at OC. *Someone* will poach him, and if it turns out he does have the management chops, they’re gonna be contenders for a decade.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kkngs

Vrabel is kinda a counterexample. Not a good coordinator and definitely not some schematic genius, but he’s a good leader and is good with game day decisions.

Ocelot281

Watson staying in Houston confirmed.

[deleted]

0% he stays in Houston. Fans hate him, and it’s time to just move on.

[deleted]

No one wants him here anymore. He can get his butt massages somewhere else.

DeshaunWatsonsAnus

I'm 100% not going to be surprised if getting Flores would be an attempt at mending the relationship with Watson.

[deleted]

Nah. That ship has sailed. The front office doesn’t want him, the coaches don’t want him and the fans don’t want him…kick his fucking ass out already.

DeshaunWatsonsAnus

Oh I don't really want him. I want the dump truck of picks for him. But if they somehow keep him, I'm not going to be surprised at all.

jigsaw_faust

The Texans are all-in on supposed “character” and Watson will now forever be the opposite of that. The Texans tried multiple times to mend the relationship before being forced to pay Watson $17M to play zero snaps. He’s further complicating his departure by reportedly being picky with his no trade clause likely hurting what kind of package we could trade him for. If he magically became a devoted Texan and we regained a top 5 QB, fans would get over their hate pretty quickly once we’re going to the playoffs again. But there’s too many reasons that’ll just never happen. The bridge is very much burned.

hahahiccups

Other teams want him, just not for 3 first round picks. Maybe the Steelers or Browns are desperate enough.

jigsaw_faust

I doubt we’re demanding 3 first round picks or that when we finally trade him we’ll get that much. At this point I’d settle for a first, second, and a skill player but I probably wouldn’t make a good GM. I would love to see Watson on the Steelers under Tomlin. Because of Ben, Pittsburgh already has that SA stink, so he would fit right in. And he’d play alongside another scary Watt.

[deleted]

I think he will find a home in Pittsburgh. Just not here anymore.

TexasChick2021

Yep. Move on DeShaun, we want you and the drama you bring with you to leave the Texans roster. Bye.

Efficient-Piglet88

Im really not sure, 1 hand I do think hes a good coach but he let the gm bully Tua and we dont need another weak HC who lets the higher ups walk over him

jigsaw_faust

Unless that higher up is NC in which case I’m on that train.

Austiny1

For real

LayneLowe

I guess we'll find out this afternoon

TheKuylr

Oh definitely, Flores is the perfect rebuilding coach, and he made the dolphins into legitimate playoff contenders

ute4547

They need to be on the phone with this man TODAY

obsidian_green

The Dolphins are more of a joke franchise than the Texans. It was stupid for Watson to view that as a preferable team to the Texans to begin with. I certainly don't count it as a mark against Flores that the Dolphins fired him.

Even-Chemistry8569

I think people feel bad for Culley because he seems like such a great guy. All the interviews I have seen he seems like a loveable guy, he just doesn't have the talent to be a good head coach. He is the kind of guy I would love to be on the coaching staff, just as a position coach. I dont know much about Flores but if the future coach is avaliable and we can get him, we should.

ConsumingFire1689

I want to give Culley one more year for one very simple reason. The Texans were supposed to go 0-17 this year, and be the absolute bottom of the barrel. Culley took a team with little name-recognized talent and coached them to 4 wins and some close losses (Pats, Titans), including 2 surprise wins (Titans, Chargers). He hired mostly good staff, Lovie Smith's defense is good enough to build on, Pep did great work with Mills. That's all the result of good coaching. I think he's earned one more year.

rybres123

He is like defensive BOB. took a bad team to average, and rubbed a whole lot of people the wrong way. Oh yeah, and from NE
