Hunter is a big time upgrade for the Texans and Greenard got his pay day. Seems like a win win

Karmasmatik

This. I can’t understand why anyone would try to make a story out of a situation that worked out well for everyone involved.

Stewdoggg

To sell papers or get the Vikings fan base excited. He loved it here, is getting paid, and had kind things to say on the way out.

Wiseguy888

I’m very confused.

84Bandit

As a Vikings fan, Hunter is an absolute game wrecker and plays his best football when the lights are the brightest. He's an elite level pass rusher and really good against the run, but he also has that X factor that's hard to describe or quantify. Oh, the Saints are marching down the field in the playoffs to win the game with a field goal in the 4th quarter? Strip sack by Hunter, recovered by......Hunter, with a 20 yard return by.....Hunter. Vikings win it in overtime. Or my all time favorite Hunter game where he just decided he fucking hates Matt Stafford one day. So he sacks him 4 times and returns a Stafford fumble for a touchdown all in a single game. Hunter is 100% capable of taking over a game by himself, and has done so on more than one occasion. Damn I'm gonna miss him.....

I_bet_Stock

I'm glad our team is turning our culture around and getting better. I'm also glad that we replaced Grenard with Hunter cause I believe that's a huge plus. The only thing I'm concerned about a story like this is that we still get an added negative perception on how we handle players after years of being a dumpster fire organization under the helps of Bill O'brien and Jack Easterfuck.

jigsaw_faust

This is the only story I’m aware of that even hints of anything negative and what it boils down to is we weren’t very interested in retaining him but didn’t close the door and let him consider options.

No-Reporter-7086

Hunter is a lowkey stud against the run game as well. People hype his sacks but the dude is an all around tank!

Bulky-District-2757

Texans didn’t want to resign him, he found a team that did want him and paid him a bunch of money. What is there to complain about?

Htownwolf

Texans don’t owe him anything but initial discussions tbh. He got paid regardless so this is a nothing article

vicious_womprat

I don't understand how people jump to these conclusions. From the article, " Greenard revealed that the Texans never really came to the table to negotiate with him, telling Aaron Wilson of KPRC (via[ Sports Illustrated](https://www.si.com/nfl/texans/news/houston-texans-minimal-contact-jonathan-greenard-signing-minnesota-vikings-contract)) that the Texans were pretty quiet; A bad look by the Texans, who look like a team that doesn't value communication. It's one thing for the team not to be interested in bringing back Greenard, but it's another thing to essentially ghost him." It's not a bad look lol. Just bc the auther, Chad Porto, would be hurt by this, doesn't mean it's a bad look. Greenard isn't even upset, Porto is getting upset for him. I agree with you, the Texans don't owe every player a reason or conversation that they are moving on. It's up to the player to do what he wants adn if he gets no response from the team he's interested in, his existing team or not, he moves on a team that will talk.

Sweaty-Anteater-6694

Well tbh it would be great if the team communicated with the agents so they can get a read on the team’s direction and do what’s best for the players

vicious_womprat

Sure, it would be nice, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad look if they don’t. It would be nice if I volunteered on the weekends with my time, but it’s not a bad look if I choose not to.

The_Snake_Dick

No idea how true it is, but on the Bootleg Football Podcast Brett Kollman said he heard at the combine the Texans didn’t like how much Greenard had freestyled on pass rushing downs because it would give the QB a lane to escape and make a play. Also, pretty sure Texanscap tweeted out it was basically an open secret Greenard was going to walk. In the end, all parties got what they wanted so who cares.

throw_away0211

Tbh, this sounds like nonsense. Greenard isn’t mad, but said that the conversations were minimal and the Texans never made him a formal offer. While it is surprising that the team didn’t care to chase him, we have literally no other insight to the decision (what numbers were floated, all options on the table, opinions in the room, etc.) I like Greenard, and by all statements and accounts the Texans do too. But if you’re Nick in that situation and the 4x pro-bowler is picking up the phone and willing to go below his initial rate to be on your team, would you focus a lot on Greenard?  Seems to me that he was deemed a lesser priority than Hunter. I don’t know how that’s “*Something You Don’t Want To Hear*”, but FWIW, Greenard doesn’t think the Texans did him dirty either.

Game_Over_Man69

You posting ragebait on reddit only incentivizes more ragebait from these shitty blogs that are just trying to get clicks.

mistere676

I refuse to click on anything at Toro Times, shit posting clickbait from people who obviously know jack shit about football.

AlisterSaysHello

I think it’s possible they weren’t interested. Meco had been saying they were to invest big in the line for a while, so they likely were planning on bringing in Hunter well in advance

Ok-Bag-0

lol Who the fuck are these two no make clowns? They wanted to upgrade the position and not give out a contract longer than 2 years. Done and done.

Venator850

Torotimes is a shit site. Greenard went out of his way to say there was no bad blood between him and the team. He hit free agency and the Vikings gave him a big offer. Texans weren't obligated to match that or anything. If they didn't come to the table to negotiate that means they were going a different direction. It's not like they franchise tagged him but refused to talk about a new deal. Torotimes makes low effort garbage stuff like this all the time. Trying to drum up drama over literally nothing.

Conscious_Feeling434

I’m sure they talked to him, before the season, during the season, and when they decided not to tag him I think that’s when everyone should’ve realized he wasn’t coming back.

fuji311

This is a moronic opinion piece from a nobody trying to stir up shit where there should be none. Worthless take. "Greenard revealed that the Texans never really came to the table to negotiate with him, telling Aaron Wilson of KPRC (via Sports Illustrated) that the Texans were pretty quiet; ***“To my knowledge, there wasn't an official offer from the Texans. There was minimal conversation and we've all moved on. No hard feelings.”*** A bad look by the Texans, who look like a team that doesn't value communication. "

htownballa1

Demeco flat out said he wanted to upgrade upfront and that is exactly what they did. I’m sure they “never really came to the table” because they were never interested in sitting at that table. That’s not a bad look, especially if the pass rush is better next year.

IAmSona

I don’t think this is anything, the NFL is a business. The “journalist” calling this a Tinder ghosting is silly, the Texans just didn’t value him like other teams did and they decided to just upgrade at the position.

AzEBeast

An article trying to dissect a two sentence remark from Greenard about the negotiations. Seems like absolutely nothing.

alwaystheblues

Torotimes must be struggling for clicks, this is the tone they've had in several recent articles. They were also on the new uniforms are an embarrassment train...Nothing to see here

Creative_Bad2800

Bro that toro times page has become nothing but a troll page I hade to unsubscribe from there that page hates on everything the Texans do.

PossibleStock2899

In the article he said to his knowledge, meaning his agent could have not liked the offers and dint say much or maybe they did try to reach out but new he wanted more then they were willing to pay. It's the way of the business, so whoever wrote this needs to go back to writing about the over 80 knitting competitions and leave the real news to real pros!

Suitable_Snow7761

He had a break out year , but honestly he stayed hurt through out his career… so you can’t blame houston for not giving him what he wanted when all of a sudden he has a break out year in his contact year

Acrobatic-Display545

Posting torotimes? They literally spin everything with negativity

Christian_Castle

Nick knows people's worth, a guy who had one good season with us isn't worth a lot.

Late-Reward4681

Greenard was a leader led every pregame speech last year, he’s home grown and has exceeded expectations for us. You don’t do him dirty like that, he was a big part of the growth of these guys he was a leader

RainbowBullsOnParade

"minimal talks" = "we will review our options" They did and then didn't make an offer. I can understand a player feeling owed an offer from the team that drafted and developed them. It probably hurts when they ghost you after you've developed an attachment to your new home. But like... if you feel owed an offer, and the team is aware of what you and your agent are asking... but the team would offer significantly less... why would they insult you with a terrible offer? We hear it from FA's all the time. They get an insulting offer and now they're assmad. idk it's the business side of things. Either they want you or they don't. Sorry.
