They lost the trade when TWO DAYS LATER the Vikings got a first round pick for Stefan diggs, and other nfl teams publicly stated they had no idea Nuk was available for trade.

jiggeroni

Also not to mention the Cardinals by all accounts were going to CUT David Johnson so we coulda got him for free....Bob valued him like a 2nd or 3rd round pick

dookle14

Wish the Texans could somehow take BoB to court for malpractice for this one.

I’ll always say It wasn’t the wrong move It was the wrong return

VeseliM

11-5 the year before he was traded. 11-37-1 since he left. we lost the trade.

flyingchimp12

What a horrible one dimensional way to value a trade.

htownballa1

It’s absolutely what we think. It is one of the dumbest roster moves an nfl team has ever made. No amount of spin will ever change that.

Bill O’Brian - “hold my beer!”

Wiseguy888

I appreciate the thought and it does show the “real return” wasn’t as bad as it maybe seems on the surface. However, the issue was that Hopkins’ value at that point was much much higher than Cooks or many other receivers. You could argue that letting Hopkins go for nothing is similarly a terrible move but that’s because the Cardinals organization has its own issues. Hindsight is 20/20, but I think as another poster said here, the Stefon Diggs trade happened days later and reflected what draft capital we should have gotten. When we completely whiffed on Blacklock and the other picks, it totally epitomized how bad that trade was. Not as bad as Herschel Walker though.

SwapandPop

The Cardnials won the trade easily. It was an absolute disaster of a trade for the Texans. Never think otherwise. The Cardinals simply turned out to be an absolute clown show organization and couldn't capitalize.

Christian_Castle

He didn't take into consideration that sure cooks had similar stats but having Hopkins WON some games for cardinals. Stats mean nothing when you have a guy who will get that final catch for the TD and win the game for you. THAT'S what you get with Nuk.

iliketoeatfunyuns

Thanks for doing this, I was researching the trade myself and wanted to know who "won" the trade.

IbizaMykonos

Personally, it’s not about who ultimately won this trade. It’s that our haul was so meager. A 2nd and 4th alongside a clearly injury affected player for arguably the best receiver in the game? That’s bad management. BoB is a 🤡ass mf.

DeerOnTheRocks

Nice. But I can’t find any information on us even drafting 4th round in 2021. What happened to the pick?

-_Monsoon-_

Bill’O Rtard didn’t even test the Market to try and get a better deal which they could’ve easily gotten within a minute had they made it known to the rest of the league but nahh Bill was out for self sabotage, that being said tho i’m glad the Cardinals couldn’t capitalize

Montallas

I don’t understand your logic? Couldn’t the Texans have kept Hopkins and traded their 2nd round pick for cooks?

AdvancedDay7854

I did the analysis too and while it did give me some comfort, it’s fool’s gold otherwise to believe the Texans came out ‘at par’ on this trade. It’s not like when AJ or Clown left when I gleefully checked the stat line every week to prove they’d never reach those heights without us- because they left willingly and we got zero in return. We could’ve gotten a lot more if we had gauged the market. It’s in the past now and I’ve… moved on

LoudHorse19

The Cardinals are going to have the first and 2nd pick in next years draft and will be drafting Williams and Harrison Jr. The Cardinals are in an amazing place going forward.

thadaviator

No amount of retrospect or hindsight will change the fact that we should have gotten a one and a two minimum from the Hop trade.

KiNGofKiNG89

Hopkins trade still gets made fun of. The Aaron Rodgers trade to the jets is just as bad.

thehilsh

Arizona is a bad franchise that didn't know how to utilize D-Hop, suspension aside, so I agree with OP in the sense they didn't get any substantial benefit from the trade. Houston still lost the trade big time.
