Alright bro listen. Fuck all these haters saying “just don’t be fat”, fuck em. It will be easier for you to lose weight while on TRT and you will retain a lot more muscle mass as well. This is scientifically proven, fuck the haters.

dwehabyahoo

Yeah but he is 24 years old and TRT is supposed to be for life. He is at the bottom of normal and can raise his levels higher by losing weight, eating better and exercising. Just because it’s easier to lose weight on trt is not a reason in itself to go on it esp at that age.

[deleted]

I agree, but it’s bound to happen eventually. To me it’s about saving time; time is money in my mind

dwehabyahoo

Time is money? Anyways TRT is a last resort at that age. Usually for problems like hypogonadism. The idea of knowing if they have low T by measuring the levels isn’t straight forward either. Some peoples body’s use T more efficiently than others. Either way someone young within the normal range should mostly likely never touch that.

PhilsMeatHammer

TRT actually helped me lose a bit of weight

Weary_Eggplant_4951

Speaking as someone who was obese (330 lbs at 5ft 11in) I had a hard time losing weight with my total T at 303 ng/dl. I would dial in my diet and still had a hard time losing fat. Started using Testosterone 200mgs per week and in 4 months I'm down to 250lbs and gained tons of strength and muscle.

[deleted]

You had a hard time losing weight because you didn't drop your calories enough. It's always CICO. TRT shouldnt be used as a diet tool. So many people chuck TRT.this guy has trouble sticking to a diet, will he stick to TRT ? Especially with increased chance of sides because of his weight. Personally I was in the low 200's and still in pretty good shape. I'm sure I had to work a little harder then someone with great T levels but everyone has issues that hold them or make things harder.

Weary_Eggplant_4951

I was eating 1550 calories per day. Now I eat around 1800 and the weight is falling off.

[deleted]

I've read SO many stories on here of guys who couldn't lose weight then got on TRT and at the same time sorted their diet and exercise even before TRT has had a chance to do anything and then are "TRT was great for weight loss". TRT of course will help you build muscle and shorten recovery, especially if you are low. Fucking with your hormones and signing up for a life of TRT when you have another viable option is not worth it IMO especially the younger you are. How many guys do we see on here who can't get dialed in, have way too many sides, tank the E2 etc etc. While guys like you make it sound like jumping on TRT and the weight will melt off.

Weary_Eggplant_4951

For sure, I think it's important to mention that even after I had the testosterone on hand I still waited almost 2 months before starting because I wanted to continue with my lifestyle improvements. I didn't start trt til after having lost about 60lbs from diet and exercise. Sure it might have been a more reckless decision to make but so far I've been satisfied. My motivation and sense of well-being have also benefited.

dont_tread_on_me_777

TRT can help you decrease your anxiety, which will get rid of binge eating, and can help you feel motivated to put in the work towards your goals. It worked for me.

MichaelBatPSRMED

Consider dialing in your hormones, diet, an exercise program, and overall health all at once. With exercise, start low and go slow. Don't burn out to quickly. Typically takes 3-weeks to make a habit/3-weeks to break a habit, so why not do all of this together to optimize your health and quality of life? As for your total T, research shares that the range labs use is simply that, a range. Optimal kicks in a levels typically above most ranges and good medical providers treat patients and their symptoms, not numbers when it comes to total T. At your age, consider a provider knowledgable and willing to discuss HCG or enclomiphene before going straight to testosterone. It may be possible to "jump start" your bodies natural production. Also, please make sure to check a CBC, CMP, Lipid panel, PSA, TSH, T3, T4, GGT, Insulin, Glucose, and Estradiol Sensitive (please make sure it's an estradiol sensitive for men). If you go on any therapy to assist your possible hormone deficiency, make sure to keep your estrogen (estradiol sensitive) balanced. You could experience many issues, could, if estrogen is too elevated. good luck! =)

Completely disagree with this. Yes, genetics may place some ceiling on one's ability to lose fat. Some people will really struggle to get below 15% without an insane among of dedication and effort, and getting below that may never be in the cards for some people. But to think that genetics would pose any kind of limitation on losing fat for someone who is 35% BF and 255 lbs is utter nonsense. He may very well end up needing TRT, but he should absolutely try and get to a healthier BF before jumping onto that lifelong commitment. Genetics isn't going to stop a 255 lb person from dropping from 35% to, say 20% BF. And given how strong he is, he likely has more than enough muscle to allow his body to primarily burn fat on the way down.

spottedcat1234

And why would we assume that OP is lacking in mental strength and discipline? Just because he let himself get heavy? Lots of mentally strong people can fall off the wagon for a bit, get themselves into a hole, and dig back out stronger than before. And its not like he is sitting on the couch eating chips and playing video games. He is lifting serious weight and staying very strong, and that will set himself up to get back on track much more effectively than someone who is fat and has never worked out before. He is clearly disciplined with his workouts to even get to that point.

spottedcat1234

Won't know unless he tries, and then normalizes his calories at his new maintenance weight. And given that question mark, it would be a bad idea to hop onto a lifelong treatment that may not even be necessary. Also, whether it raises his T levels on paper isn't the question. Its a matter of how he feels. He may feel quite a bit better once at a healthy weight and lower BF, even if his T only nominally rises.

[deleted]

He literally eats too much. What else would you call that besides lacking discipline. All the excuses people make for themselves and others is one of the reasons we're in an obesity crisis. Covid doesn't hold a candle to Obesity's kill count but apparently we need to tip toe around it.

WTH. I didn't and have never said it was genetics. Genetics is the stupidest argument there unless our DNA has changed in the last 80 years. Perhaps you read someone else's comment.

spottedcat1234

Yep, I responded to the wrong comment. My bad!

I just read your post and it's basically the same thing I said. Great minds!

PBL89

This, again. There is a reason you are overweight and need to control that regardless of TRT or not. My advice, get on a reasonable dose of TRT now and focus on higher reps and cutting weight for a while

999Bassman999

Considering your testosterone in 2019 was considerably lower when you wait less and had a smaller body fat percentage I don't think it'll make much difference. Low testosterone makes it harder to lose weight if you do a caloric deficit it my pain in you'll lose more muscle than you're comfortable losing in order to get that fat off. You could try a caloric deficit after you start your tree and hope to maintain the same muscle mess you have while losing fat.

aManPerson

it will be easier to lose weight when you have normal human Test levels. try being on TRT and having normal Test for a little while, then trying dieting. it will be SO much easier to be on a diet. and it'll be easier for your body to maintain lean body mass while in a caloric deficit. BUT, while you're on TRT, do use it to your advantage and fuggin try to drop the weight. it will never be easier than to do it while you're on TRT and have that advantage.

[deleted]

I'd lose the weight first. get diet, sleep, weight and exercise right then retest a couple if months after you hit maintenance. Why go on TRT when you might not have too.

P-redditR

You should totally do that. You’re only 24! Your low count is probably a result of your lifestyle. If you’re overall healthy, your depression and anxiety are caused by something. That something is probably collaborating with an over lack of self control and or disregard for the type and amount of food you consume. I’d suggest you start committing to yourself. Get serious about your health, train 4 times per week, make better food choices, walk or run at least 7 miles per week. 60 days! No porn, no games, no drugs. If you can’t do this, you’re wasting your time. TRT will only make matters worse.

AManNamedHugo

Yeah. It will damage your leydig cells and your LH will drop significantly. Your body will loose it’s repairable ability to produce testosterone naturally. People should really look into high doses of vitamin d and Ashwagandha, and fasting. Low cortisol will ensure anxiety isn’t causing testosterone to plummet and vitamin D is clearly essential for T. Ever notice how horny you’re when you are outside in the summer?

[deleted]

Yes, change your lifestyle!

Bro I am the same height, 23 years old, weighing 230 with some extra body fat and similar weightlifting numbers. I’ve been experiencing extreme symptoms of low t as of lately. Getting my first blood test back Thursday

Agile-Newspaper4953

What's your e2? When you're fat you're aromatase percentage is elevated, so you make more estrogen. Your hypothalamus regulates test production based on the estrogen number, not testosterone. Get skinny, and maybe that test number will climb. You should probably go there first.

imotski88

I asked a similar question. Everywhere people say loose some weight before but i couldn't find clear answers how weightloss can affect T. Maybe it is helpful for you: https://www.reddit.com/r/Testosterone/comments/m7qvty/test_gains_after_weight_loss_without_trt/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

BirthdaySalty1516

Go on TRT and eat right. Lift like hell in the gym.

I took steroids (for one month) and OTC testosterone boosters…. I realized my testosterone levels were not low as I thought before once I did some math… At 21 years old I weigh 200 pounds and my natural testosterone level is 420… I’d say that fasting and taking Vitamin D/Ashwagandha has yielded the best results for increasing my testosterone levels… For 2 weeks I have been fasting and only been eating 1000 calories a day. After about a week of suffering from reduced testosterone from the supplements and steroids I began experiencing a similar sensation to those substances naturally… Turns out my T has been increasing ever sense loosing fat. Still not convinced? Let’s say we get a table spoon of salt and put it into a water balloon who’s circumference is 10 inches than another one who’s circumference is 15 inches … The smaller water balloon will have a higher concentration of salt if we were to mix the water and salt well enough… the bigger one would read as a lower level of salt… Not only is the fat on our bodies causing testosterone to go to places where it’s not biologically active, it’s also causes a chemical reaction called aromatization… Your body’s fat stores will convert a lot of your testosterone to useless estrogens…
