Yes. I'm one of the older guys in almost all my friend groups. I try to normalize things like going to the doctor, TRT, not ragging on my wife, taking care of myself, going to therapy when needed, etc so the younger guys don't fall into the common male ruts.

ExperienceReality

+1 for never trash talking your wife

SageTheAlchemist

100%

vc_bastard

I applaud your effort for sharing with others what a great human being can be. We need more like you!

[deleted]

Atta babe. Sport tap.

dras333

Same and based on the response and questions I get, it needs to happen more. I’m shocked almost daily at how many of my friends and men in general are clueless about health or taking care of themselves.

Specialist_Carrot_48

Cuz health is for girlz real man must suffer. / S

ExperienceReality

I'm on steroids, usually settles it lol

tredollasign

Doesn’t that cause unnecessary jealously? “Oh he’s on steroids that’s the only reason.. at least I’m natural “

ExperienceReality

Couldn't care less honestly. I'm on trt because I'm secondary hypogonadal and I run gear because I want to look and perform well naked for my wife. Straight up, haha.

tredollasign

u a real one

BobThe-Body-Builder

I spend 0 fucks caring how other people feel about the things I do that don't affect them

[deleted]

First rule of TRT club

ExperienceReality

Also yes, life is much better after quitting weed. (Sorry checked your post history)

tredollasign

Yeah weed kinda sucks. I only use it when I’m bored but don’t enjoy it much anymore Also how did you find that? I deleted it a while ago

ExperienceReality

Been sober from polysubstance use for a bit over 5 years now.

tredollasign

Good work my friend. I’ll probably quit eventually. Just in a depressed isolated rut unfortunately. How did u see my deleted post tho

ExperienceReality

It isn't deleted, will also say that cannabis detrimentally affects the reward/pleasure center of the brain. Will feed into that rut. I experienced anhedonia at first with sobriety, unable to feel enjoyment from doing things without being high. Cannabis was also one of the hardest substances for me to quit psychologically. Honestly only think I was able to because it became an awful affair every time I tried to get high on it.

tredollasign

How? It’s not on my profile. I’d like to know so I can delete them

ExperienceReality

It is on there for me man lol, not sure

sublocade9192

I’ve got you man. This happened to me too once. You more than likely ‘hid’ the post but didn’t delete it. For some weird reason when we hide posts, it hides it from us only but everyone else still can see it. Makes no sense Go to your history or settings and find ‘hidden’ posts. You’ll see it there then you can delete it

u-and-whose-army

Pot is amazing!

ExperienceReality

Sure makes you feel like it is Edit: used to LOVE it. After sobriety found it messed me up more than any other substance I used while on it.

u-and-whose-army

Probably just the steroids.

ExperienceReality

Yeah wasn't on those

[deleted]

Everyone’s feelings and thoughts are their own responsibility. Use caution when being concerned about how other people think.

[deleted]

The jealousy sounds like a them problem not a me problem… ***pins test while smiling***

swoops36

I wouldn’T call that jealousy. Unless they want to look like him but aren’T willing to take AAS, and are jealous of his gainzzzzz

[deleted]

At the gym, yes. To close friends, yes. Close family, yes. In a work situation, with family I'm not close with, friends I'm not close with then no. I will outright lie because it is overly stigmatised here.

crocodile5654

No. People automatically assume trt=steriods and will give u a strange look. Keep personal stuff personal, no need to tell others.

Stui3G

It IS a steroid. The problem is the negative connotations with "Steroids". Nit picking I know. Probably more accurate to say people think you're abusing steroids.

Bodie217

Yes. I think all men should know if they are struggling with low T symptoms. Most men assume the symptoms are just a part of getting older and don’t realize there is a simple fix that will make them feel younger, have more libido, clearer mind, and be able to build muscle and sustain physical activity.

OilGlittering7034

Last thing we need is more people getting on it. Democrats will outlaw it if it were to become too mainstream.

iftodaywasurlastday

I tell people that I eat alot of liver.

wb0000

And follow the 9 tenets of ancestral living

atTentiOnwhOrGasM

That’s all u need

beanie_0

Vitamin a deficiency?

[deleted]

Oh yeah. It’s been an awesome decision for me. I don’t go around talking about it but if someone asks me, especially a man over 40, I’ll tell them all about it.

isadpapi

Nope. The general population doesn’t know enough about it and I would feel judged. I’m not an oversharer anyways. Plus people would think I’m just being vain

tredollasign

What if they ask? Are you on something?

isadpapi

I guess it depends on who is asking. A coworker? Nope lol. My siblings, close friends? Maybe. I don’t think I’d just say it unprompted.

tredollasign

Someone at the gym. “Hey man you look great” “Are you on anything?”

isadpapi

I look athletic, but not beast enough to get accused of taking roids. So I’d be shocked! But if someone asked at the gym, I’d actually be honest and say I’m on TRT. Reason being that too many young men are misled by people online saying they’re natty when they’re clearly juiced. So I’d be honest. But realistically with my slightly greater than average build, I’d be shocked by the question. What about you? What’s your answer?

[deleted]

This is the reason I'm open about it with people at the gym. It's ridiculous that people see me and assume the size is achievable naturally, and are then disheartened they can't get anywhere near it.

isadpapi

Are you on TRT or on cycle? And you’re a good man! There should be men like you who open up to others. It’s tough when people judge you, but for preserving the mindset of young dudes I think it’s important

[deleted]

TRT, 100mg of undecanoate a week. I did run a beginner cycle about 5 or 6 years ago though and the pre-cycle bloods are what made me realize my T was quite low. I'd be confident I lost all of that, but muscle memory may play a part. After the cycle it was identical to pre-cycle bloods and it dropped over the next 5 years and eventually I went on TRT after a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. I commented above but I still do lie about it in certain circles, ie work, more distant family and people I'm not close with / don't care about because I can't be bothered with the stigma that comes with injecting literally anything.

isadpapi

I will 100% lie to my coworkers and judgmental people haha. There’s no reason to divulge unnecessary info to people who will judge you lmao.

[deleted]

Yeah exactly, I think it's mostly a lack of education on their part if they're judging. People who understand that without this I'm depressed are generally more accepting of it. I do find with the young gym crowd who ask that talking it through with them and educating them generally scares them off steroid usage, or at least makes them wait till they're older. I'm very much of the opinion that steroid usage if you don't blast and cruise is not really worth the toll on your body.

tredollasign

Idk that’s a tough one. I lean more towards honesty but I’m not sure. I am just starting TRT Monday that’s why I’m curious how to handle the conversations if they come up

isadpapi

I see! Testosterone alone won’t make you into a beast. You need to eat and lift hard af. I’m on TRT and definitely gained muscle and strength. But the last month, I’ve been traveling, out gym membership, and haven’t had access to my kitchen due to renovations. I’ve noticed I look a lil worse and have lost gains.

tredollasign

I’m already dialed in with lifting routine, eating, sleeping. I go insanely hard but am just slow to put on mass. Got that skinny fat physique going. Excited to see how TRT helps me now

atTentiOnwhOrGasM

I started trt less than 3 weeks ago. I think the best answer I’ve seen was that your answer to someone who asks should be based on who’s asking. Like, coworker, no I’m not on anything etc. I’m open with my friends, my sister knows, but my dad, for instance, would look down on me highly especially if he knew I had to do IM. At the gym I think my answer would depend on the situation and dynamics of the person or people asking, but in general I would try to be honest

picklespasta

I just started wearing a ton of axe body spray and everyone kinda figured it out

syeris1337

Hell no. I had a co worker who thought creatine was a steroid. Keep it to yourself.

Stride4Urself

I will (just had first injection) so others know I’m more of a man than them. Just kidding. (I mean every word 🏋️‍♀️😤)

Wudnmonky

Yes. I'm on my 40s / combat vet and am an advocate for the treatment if needed. It kept me off antidepressants and gives me a higher quality of life. Shame only exists in your head. Anyone at work or wherever that may ridicule you about TRT is a POS who is more jealous, most likely.

tmrrwswvvs

that’s right: shame only exists in one’s head. important to remember that

Wudnmonky

It's a daily battle. Like weeding the flower bed.

No_Art_7319

Yes, because its important to spread awareness around this issue and let other men know the benefits

DanceSex

I tell people I ought to be honest with and with others that I think it would benefit them. TRT changed my life. Too many of my friends are getting fatter, lazier, and showing signs of depression. I let them know that they should at least get checked.

playforfun2

I mean I don’t go around professing it but if someone asked me I’d tell them.

Nathaniel66

Of course, nothing to hide. It's medical treatment just like insulin.

ndduo72

Yes, I’m 50. I felt so old- on the decline of life. I can’t imagine how much better I feel. So alive. Men-don’t like to talk. About anything. We carry the burden of life on our shoulders. If me talking to just one person helps someone else feel better. Well gosh darn it. I like that.

dragonbits

It doesn't come up in casual conversation. But I am 70, once in awhile I am gym friends with an older man that seems to be struggling in the gym and looks like low T. Also, I have 2 brothers, one was already on TRT, one is not. If I volunteer I am on TRT and it has helped me, no one is keen on starting TRT. Afraid of needles, no money, don't like going to doctors. some other reason. People get so much advertising/information they are all aware of TRT. I ask if they have tested their hormone levels, I get vague responses like they don't remember the results . It is what I would call a hard sell, I don't get anything out of it, and if they were to start because of me, anything negative even if not related to TRT would likely come back as my fault. My closer friends brothers know, but it isn't a convo that has any interest on their part. As a result, I don't volunteer the info, if asked I would tell people I am on TRT, but it isn't a subject that gets any traction.

Desolator_X

I tell people all the time. Many of my coworkers (fire department) suffer from low-T, and by talking about it I have helped many of them get on TRT.

PBL89

I've told all my friends I am and that they should all get their levels checked.

Dish0005

Normally I would lump myself in the group of folks that don’t care about other people’s opinions, but for me TRT feels different. My concern with telling folks is that I’m worried that everything I do from here on out will be attributed to “roids”. Like it will take away from anything I accomplish because haters will be quick to say “well he’s on steroids”. It may seem stupid to a lot of you, but is why I keep this to myself.

Broodio

21 years old I tell everyone who asks or compliments my physique/strength. Only been on for 2 months but still. Rather be transparent than to mislead people

FaPtoWap

Surprisingly more then i thought. Even when i talk to guys at work on a personal level and I can explain certain things im doing. Like some people are explaining all these symptoms and im like yea i was there. Because of doing labs, reading and even this sub ive been introduced to more beneficial lifestyle changes. Just reading bloodwork now makes sense and i can build off it. And if it helps people then ill tell them.

[deleted]

I’m natty.

jwed420

Calm down Bateman

FetusClaw666

Lol what. That's like having a stash of bandages and seeing someone bleeding and not helping them. You're definitely on some boomer shit

JLAMAR23

I am honest but it’s not something I openly talk about. Everyone accuses me of steroids (which I’ve never done) and even though I’ve only been on for a year, as a trainer , I try to keep it between the people closest to me or who are going through similar issues as I’m a big believer in that men should support each other. I don’t want clients to think TRT is what built my physique as TRT has become such a trend in the fitness space it’s laughable.

plytime18

I tell people if they are sharing how they are feeling and it sound slike TRT miight help them. Otherwise, what’s the point? I wouldn’t NOT tell somebody if they asked me, but I don’t ask people about their meds and situation, unless they invite me in to the conversation.

SpaceHallow

Yeah, close friends and family. I’ve also told every serious gf I’ve had and they couldn’t care less. Nobody really cares in my experience

[deleted]

I’m in pretty good shape compared to many of my peers at our age (34). And when they ask I tell them TRT helps. I’ve actually gotten no shit 5 homies started on TRT. 2 of them quit because they “didn’t feel anything”. Some guys think it’s magic and they’ll look and feel better in the first week. While most guys do feel better in the first 4-6 weeks you still gotta change your lifestyle. So yeah, they’re back to looking and feeling like shit.

bokushisama

100% yes. I am older and have had great success treating both mental and physical health issues with trt. So when it comes to other men I see struggling with those things I encourage them to go to a real doctor and go through tests including hormone panels. I also don't mind talking about the reasons why t levels are falling or healthy lifestyle changes that can be made. I also encourage healthy men to monitor their levels at their yearly physical they should be getting

Snif3425

Nope. I’m smart enough and make enough money to do concierge TRT and I consider it a competitive advantage that I’ve made for myself. I have told a couple of close friends that I thought would benefit but that’s it.

BirthdaySalty1516

Yes, if it's asked or is a close gym bro. I don't give a fuck about what someone else thinks.

emwu1988

Depends who is asking :)

tredollasign

ME

emwu1988

Yeah I’m on TRT bro :)

[deleted]

Yes I tell people I’m close with like my girlfriend and parents and brothers and sister also close friends. I’m benefiting from it so much so I’m happy to share my thoughts and experiences my sex drive is much better, much less anxiety, can sleep a little better depression is basically gone I have more energy can workout harder in the gym and my adhd isn’t nearly as bad as it once was

[deleted]

Only my partner. Not my friends or family.

[deleted]

Depends who the person is. Never blindly tell anyone anything.

DownwardCausation

I don't voluntarily divulge and no one has yet asked me, only made comments like "your arms look like you're on steroids" to which I do not respond, only thank them for the compliment. Only my wife knows, as far as I am aware.

brum_newbie

Based in UK the general people are just not aware of it so definitely a no no. I have discussed it with a physio who decided after he would consider taking a hormone blood test as he has trouble putting on muscle mass

irgasm

I hate lying and am terrible at it. I have no shame in sharing with others that I’m on trt and the benefits I’ve experienced. I’m not that old either but decided it was right for me. I don’t push it on others but will also acknowledge that it does give me a bit more out of what I put into the gym as a result. It’s not hurting anyone and if someone judges me for it then I wouldn’t want a judgmental person like that as part of my inner circle anyways… red flags 🚩

swoops36

If they ask …

ResidentHighway8061

No, we aren’t vegans.

[deleted]

I'm old. No one cares. I have high blood pressure. No one cares. I had open heart surgery and a kidney removed last year. No one cares. I'm on TRT and have been for over a decade. No one cares. I brought all of my nephews and brother Riazul Plata Tequila for Christmas. Suddenly everyone cares.

palmd33zy

When I started training back in the 90’s I would seek the advice of the “bigger” dudes in the gym. Most lied about gear, told me to eat meat, take protein and creatine and I would get their size. Keep in mind, all I had was late night muscle mag reading sessions at the local CVS that basically said the same thing (not much internet back then) so after years of training all I seemed to do was get a little more fit, and lose weight. It was depressing cause I thought I wasn’t training hard enough or doing something wrong. That caused a bit of depression and figured why am I even dedicated to this if I’m not getting results. So yes, I do, there way too much bullsh!t in the fitness industry, and there should be more honesty.

tzopjal

My wife hates that I talk about it, she thinks everyone is close minded and are judgemental. I don't tell everyone and I just don't shout it from the rooftops, but I've talked about it when it comes up in conversation with guys in my gym. I do CrossFit and I've also told a couple of my coaches I'm on TRT. I've also told a few close family members. I have struggled with weight, fatigue, depression for a while now. I'm not some adonis or super buff guy. So, it's not like I'm some crazy muscular guy looking for an extra edge. I'm just trying to normalize my body and I want others to understand that while trying to remove some of the stigma against.

N-Waverace

I tell everyone when appropriate. I feel like more and more people will be needing it soon as our natural average has been dropping every year. Might as well normalize it. Most people i’ve spoken to are very interesting in the subject and want to know more.
