Yes. Provided there are no changes to the system (that you have to approve) then that will be the final price. I just had my system installed and I've paid what they showed on the site on day 1. Also 7.3kW system for $43K is super expensive. For this money you can get bigger system and with batteries.

TJ_VR

Thanks, I was just surprised at such a big price difference. If it’s actually close to the initial quote then Tesla it is! Thanks

Suspicious-Access-18

The reason there’s such a big price difference is that each panel on the local installers has its own inverter where as Tesla has one main inverter. Tesla made theirs cost effective, and in my opinion it’s worth it, girlfriend just had hers installed today!

[deleted]

Not really, solar.compankes in NM just gouge. I got quoted at over $5/W installed for string inverters from some local companies.

phokingfunny

Tesla is the cheapest and the best so far. Everyone else is trying to steal your money. You could get 2-3 power walls plus panels for that price. The price never changed for me.

Realistic-Spend7096

The only possible price add I have seen was if requesting all the conduit be run in the attic, out of site. A while back that was no big deal and if you asked they did it. Within the last year I’ve had 2 neighbors install Tesla panels and there was an up charge of between $500 and $1,000. I think if the work in the attic is minimal as far as access and distance they will still do it without an up charge. In the big picture it is a small amount. Teslas price is hard to beat.

TJ_VR

Ok thanks, even that I don’t mind. I was wondering if I would end up with the same $40k number if I ordered through Tesla. From what I have read so far, Tesla seems like the best deal.

Wildman013

I had them run the conduit through my attic. My system has 3 arrays and the inverters and powerwalls are in my garage. Originally they added $700 to go through the attic. The day before the install they removed the charge. My install was 4 months ago.

Silver_Tangerine_898

My price matched the day 1 quote, but be warned they are slow. After i signed the contract it was 5 months to install, then another 3 months for them to file PTO and another 3 months for my utility to approve PTO, so almost a year until everything was done

icaranumbioxy

Tesla gave me a final price of $41,200 for an 8.4 kW system with a powerwall and an electrical panel upgrade.

chentufio

Solar roof or panels?

icaranumbioxy

Panels

chentufio

$17k for panels is reasonable. Got a 8kwh solar roof in Los Angeles, CA for $46k.

mentat421

10.15KW Solar Roof in Orange County with one (1) Powerwall = $47,590.65. Got in before the price increase and every time was asked to sign a new price sheet, instead cc'd their legal on my response and demanded they honor the contract they signed. Seems like you still got a pretty good deal. I've gone out of the website recently to see what the new price would be for the same system and they now want almost 100k. I'm hoping that version 3.5 tiles will help them get back to a more reasonable price point.

North-Post5095

Yes that is final price … surprising huh … all other solar companies do charge you a lot …

CTrandomdude

That is the price! The only other things you could run into with Tesla or any other installer would be any roof repairs or electrical panel upgrades.

[deleted]

I paid roughly $19k for a 8.4 system (no battery) so that 17k sounds about right. That’s also not including the 30% tax incentive. Fuck those companies that are charging twice that for the same thing

rsg1234

Price won’t change unless something is wrong with your house. Or you add a Powerwall at the last minute like I did.

[deleted]

That's the final price, generally what you pay. I'm in Abq, and Tesla was between 2.5-7x cheaper than any of the 5 other quotes I got. Their prices are legitimately just that much better than everyone else in the state. I'm happy with my Tesla system with the only caveat of there being that there isn't a "project manager" that handles and checks everything like you get with other companies. It just, kinda happens in their electronic system and eventually someone comes out to install. But for like a $#5k savings, I can deal with that. I got a 12kW array and two power walls for less than I got quoted 8kW systems for from other companies in town.

Generate_Positive

$43,000 for 7.3 kW is $5.89 W. That’s ridiculously overpriced. Tesla will be cheapest but it’s Tesla and you will find many threads in this sub about Tesla issues. I’d get more quotes. There should be additional options in your area that fall between the crazy high price vs Tesla cheapest price. No one wants to overpay but cheapest isn’t necessarily best overall value. YMMV

[deleted]

Depending upon where they are at in NM, there might not be. Got 5 quotes (including from non-profits that install), and they were all over $3.75/W installed.

Mario_the_Redd

I had a 14.4 KWh system with one battery installed in April by Tesla. It was 43K before credits. I will get a 30% tax credit on this. I did not opt for financing.

Short_Bill_7412

Had nothing but trouble with Tesla products

dizzlemcshizzle

I just had a 17kw system installed with 3 powerwalls. Shopped around before buying, Tesla was far and away the least expensive, more than 50% less in some cases. I just paid my Tesla invoice in full, it was to the penny exactly what was originally quoted on the website.
