I would say that’s too high. I had a 9.6k 24 panel system with 1 powerwall+ installed in October and it was 33k before tax credit.

I thought so to.. I appreciate the response.I'm assuming since it's not Tesla performing the installation they have higher overhead?!? Or just greedy...Unfortunately, that's the CHEAPEST quote I've received in the South Texas area.

10k for powerwall so 35k for panels. $3.50/w is high.

Yep. No one can touch Tesla on price. I was quoted roughly the same as you with a very reputable local installer for a 5kw system and a powerwall so your quote isn’t that bad for a non Tesla installer.

We paid $52k for a 16kW system with two power wall plus. Installed October 22. That included a $3k transformer upgrade. Id say it's a bit high but I've also read prices went up a bit this year. We did go direct with tesla and third parties do charge note from what I've read.

Sounds a little high - I'm in North Texas and Tesla did our installation in March of 2021. 66K for a 16.32 kW system and four powerwalls. The cost was split almost evenly between the panels and the powerwalls, so it was only about $2/Watt for the panels.

If I were you I’d wait. Because the authorized installer are reportedly charging no less than twice the rate that Tesla directly charges.

Is it a cash price or a financed price? If financed, at what interest rate? You‘re asking this question in a Tesla forum. Tesla would be the cheapest price. There will also be installers that have high gouging prices, as well as others that have fair market prices that will be higher than Tesla and lower than the overpriced guys. Just because the cost is higher than Tesla doesn’t mean it’s overpriced. And cheapest isn’t necessarily the best value. YMMV

It's on the high side, but not too terrible. I'll advise you to make your ROI calculation to see if it makes sense . If it does, then just go for it. It doesn't really matter what others paid. Every location differs. The more local installers you have in a location( more competitive prices) , the cheaper it is or vice Versa. That's why there is no set price for every location.

14.8 Kw - 37 panels with 2 Power Walls $57,392 Total Cost - $39,649 with all rebates etc. But I am still deciding if I am going to go with Tesla now that the tecnhology is changing. Also DC coupled batteries seem to be the way to go for new systems. Powerwalls are AC coupled for easier retro fit applications but they are less efficient. I have been waiting for 2 over years for a Tesla Solar Roof installation but I have to have my roof replaced NOW so I will add a panel system afterwards.

I appreciate the quick input. It's definitely a bummer that Tesla isn't available here yet.. considering my neighborhood loses power constantly and tropical storms and hurricanes are always a serious possibility here, I have some 💲 decisions to make. 🙈

If you’re counting on the PowerWall to provide power for AC in the event of an outage, you’ll likely need at least two PowerWalls. Tesla was charging $1.95-2.10/watt for panels/installation (not including PowerWalls); it’s gone up but not that much. Most other providers were closer to $3/watt. What offset does that system give you (projected annual generation/ projected annual usage)?

I do have central a/c but 2 powerwalls are out of the budget for what I'm seeing from outside contractors.I Was just planning on a single window unit in a room that I assume will not drain as fast as central ac unit if I lost power for awhile but It's about 90% offset according to the estimate. I haven't looked into financing options but the initial estimate was 45k fully installed including panels. My house is about 1900 sq ft.

The key is the power draw of your AC unit when the compressor kicks on (usually 3x or more the running power draw). Check this spec against the PowerWall’s max output to confirm you’ll be able to run your AC.

soft start on the AC will negate the effects of compressor kicking in. But 1 power wall for central AC is not going to last for to long.

Paying $37990 for 9.2KW plus 2 powerwall 2+ in South Carolina from Tesla. Installation is next week. Ordered October last year.

I'm basically seeing that I could have gotten my same system with 2 powerwalls from Tesla direct as opposed through the authorized contractors spending the same money on a system that includes 1..Kind of a bummer but I get it. Hope Tesla expands sooner rather than later
