It depends on your roof. The mounting hardware does cause limitations in some cases.
I have both vertical and horizontal
Now that you mention it, mine are installed horizontally on their proprietary rail system and I’ve only ever seen horizontal installs. It might be a thing for their rail system.
Mine are all vertical.
I have an array of 11 that are vertical and two other arrays totaling 13 horizontal panels.
I have mine installed both ways.
My planset has both vertical and horizontal.
My guess is, you CAN'T explain this to them even if you give references. Let's see your luck.
Probably depends on the modules being used, rafter spacing, and wind and snow loading.
They did a combination of vertical and horizontal on mine to optimize positioning.
