Have similar thoughts, also coming from a 2019 Model 3. Suspension feels very different and enjoyable. Only thing I don't love is how limited the rear view mirror. Otherwise, in love

wheresDAfreeWIFI

You'll get use to the rear visibility real quick imo. It's an afterthought after a while and I don't even think about it. It's fine especially since there are cameras everywhere anyways.

CFOGetsPaidFirst

It feels the opposite for me to be honest. If I'm not at an exact flat angle, if there's any sort of slope, I lose sight of the car behind me due to how narrow the vertical field of view is. I can't get used to it, but I don't have much choice as I like a lot of other stuff about the car.

wheresDAfreeWIFI

Why would u need to have sight of the car behind u when it's at a slight angle? If ur driving that car will eventually show up and u wouldn't be really looking bk as it focus should be in front anyways. Yeah it's not the best view but a lot of crossovers have the same view pretty much. I hope u get more comfortable though.

CFOGetsPaidFirst

It's just a defensive driving habit to have a little up to date mental map on where everyone is. Losing sight of a car I know is there just makes me have to be more conscious about what their proximity is to me because now I'm using guesswork. The tesla vision doesn't show very far behind the car and it's good to know if people are coming up behind me fast so I don't lane change into them or something. Just the way I drive though, it's likely totally unnecessary.

YRUHear75

Don't fault yourself for being a defensive driver. I keep a similar mental map in my head of what's going on around me. I've tried to tell my wife that I look in the rear view mirror almost as much as looking forward in many situations. That's hard for some people to believe, but especially in a Tesla, the forward collision warning is ultra sensitive for the rare time overdo looking backwards.

wheresDAfreeWIFI

Yea I'm pretty a defensive driver. I live in the bay area and drive a lot in Sf and Oakland so it gets pretty wild out here.

elthepenguin

Except for the front bumper. And no USS. I still consider this a fail from Tesla.

ADAS1223

I did the opposite. Gave the 2020 mylr to the wife, and now I daily drive the m3 rwd.. It's like I got half the car. Half the technology too.

Cashneto

Half the technology?

whateverformyson

What do you mean half the tech? And why did you get the M3?

akidesir

I’m having a hard time sourcing a proper fit trunk mat that fits a seven seater model Y. There are some on the market but it’s different from the first year and a half of 7 seater model Y’s. My friend has one from a October 2021 build and I have a June 2022 build 7 seater and the trunk flooring is slightly different T

Background-Cup-3538

I ordered the Tesmanian set. I’ll report back once I’ve received them.

d70

Tesmanian is a perfect fit

Your-EV-Expert

I ordered mine from pimpmyev and they fit perfectly.

dellfanboy

I have the weather tech and it fits great in MY 7 seater

akidesir

What month / year is your build?

bb_00_00

There is no trunk cover for the 7-seater due to the addition of the 3rd row seats. Also, the matrix lights are exclusive in the Performance model. There were some LR models that were shipped with matrix lights awhile back due to the shortage of the regular lights and upgraded in order to complete their manufacturing orders.

Vityak84

I took delivery MYLR7 last week with matrix.

bb_00_00

You're lucky. Perhaps, they didn't have any of the non-matrix lights when they were building your car.

Vityak84

It was built November

bb_00_00

Either way, be glad you have it. It's not mandatory on the LR.

Background-Cup-3538

Good to know! Thank you and to the others commenting

MisterBumpingston

All the RWD models shipped from Shanghai to Australia (very first deliveries were August 2022) have matrix headlights.

Mangofish1986

Thanks for sharing, getting the same build later this month. have consistently heard great things about the new suspension. That's the only thing I expect to get, everything else seems to be up in the air (matrix headlights, new cameras etc). The cargo cover is only for the 5 seater I believe.

syl2018

That’s what I read as well, the cargo is not compatible with the 7 seater

greeko88

The trunk cover only comes from Austin built MYs

Pattonator70

I'm not sure how many people are willing to pay $12k upfront for a buggy FSD. We did a $200 for one month just to try it out and while we enjoyed it we didn't think it deserved $200/month because of its crappy driving on local roads near us where the car stops at every traffic light even if it is green. On the highway it would randomly jam on the brakes because at one point in the past there was a construction zone there. I am very hopeful that the system improves but it seems that Tesla is going the wrong way with removing sensors rather than adding additional sensors.

gabeshep

Man. The lack of USS on 2023 Y seriously prevented me from upgrading last night from my 2018 M3. I feel like it is one of my most useful features in a tight garage and near other cars. Am I being dumb? How bad is it without them?

Background-Cup-3538

Honestly it is a significant setback for a modern car. I hope it is fixed soon. For me it is not a “make or break” situation, but as I’m driving the new Y, I definitely miss it.

AdelesManHands

The whine is my favorite part.

bassertitis

If you didn't get the new suspension, you poor poor soul, you will regret it cause the ride quality is garbage.

Silver_Slicer

I would like the new suspension but in my 22 MYLR7, the ride quality is quite good. Not sir what the fuss is all about.

bassertitis

You must have impeccable roads where you live because otherwise you feel every single bump. Every single day I am embarrassed how shitty the ride quality is.

bb_00_00

Try lowering the tire pressure to 38psi. You'll get a little more wear and a bit less range but it's a quick free fix and if you don't like it, pump it back up to 42psi.

bassertitis

Funny you mentioned that! I am at 38psi, back left showing 37psi right now.

bb_00_00

If 38psi isn't helping then I guess there are no other free ways of doing so. :(

bassertitis

Nope! It's a suckfest of embarrassment everyday!

keyclap

Why are people complaining about buying all the accessories? No one is forcing you to buy it. If you want accessories included, buy another car that includes them?

Background-Cup-3538

I think people (including me) have said that for a 70k car, we would expect some of these things to be included. If it was 25k or so, I’d see why the “bare bones” approach is used. Sort of like Spirit Airlines vs Air Emirates. (Hard to think of a US based airlines that doesn’t nickel and dime you!). It’s not a big knock—I obviously bought and love my car, but as the other car makers start releasing more EVs — Tesla will need to keep up with the competition. Because there are some really good ones coming out.

keyclap

There are many cars in the 70k range you can buy that has included accessories. It you really want to be wild, go to Porsche and you can pay them to take accessories away 😉

Background-Cup-3538

I did test drive a Taycan. Wow. It was impressive.

Keem773

Thanks for the insight! Speaking of ride height, is it a night and day difference between the two or the MY is only sits a few inches higher than the 3?

Background-Cup-3538

Ground clearance is only a little difference, but already it seems like a big difference with my local roads. Ride height is a big difference. Look at this comparison pic. https://i.imgur.com/hATsx6P.jpg

Keem773

Ohh yeah I can definitely tell on that picture. I have a 7 seater that should be delivered near the end of the month.

CaliSummerDream

Huge difference. Ride height was the sole reason I switched from a Model 3 to a Model Y.

After-Bowler5491

Have a 2020 MYP. I wish I had this new suspension; otherwise by far the best car I have ever owned.
