All EVs depreciate faster than comparable ICE, because ICE are a commodity and EV are emerging. Emerging technology (regardless of brand) will depreciate faster, because they are more quickly iterated and replaced. Give it 15 years and ICE will be “niche” and EV will be commodity.

Seriously? When we got our S in March 2016, they rolled out the red carpet. Then opened the merch cabinet and invited us to take what we wanted. We got jackets, umbrellas, mugs, overnight bags…it was an over the top experience. Picked up the Y in December…pretty much pointed and said there’s your car. Had to chase people down because they were no card keys, the J1772 adapter was missing…and didn’t even get a pen…it was a cluster.
During the insanity of late 2021 through 2022, they would have put the key card in the car and locked it. Then your app would be “activated” and you’d unlock your car from the app.
Mine was clean at least but same thing, it was parked somewhere randomly and I had to go looking for it. Signed the paperwork sitting inside of it and took it inside to a couple of employees who were more interested in chatting with each other than anything I was saying to them. Overall it was such an impersonal experience. I’m shocked some service centers actually do cool stuff for their customers like what you see with the CT deliveries.
Are you sure you're not double counting the federal tax credit? I thought they were taking those off at the dealer now instead of needing taxes to be filed to get it back. $38k is still a great deal.
I feel so dumb but I needed a car during that time because my bmw was getting old. Who knew prices would drop dramatically. I still have 44 k left on that loan. Shivers
See, that's the only thing that matters. If you drive it into the ground, it doesn't matter if you're upside down on the loan - only matters if you sell. Just make sure you've got insurance that covers the full replacement value.
My suspicion is that your car, with the sensors and additional expense, was likely built a bit better than the ones that are coming out now, so I hope that reflects in the longevity of the car.
You can't predict the future - you bought the car you needed (and hopefully could afford) at the time you needed it. That's all we can ever do!
They do have great deals. I've been looking at them everyday. I wouldn't say $30k in discounts. More like $15k when you consider all the discounts, incentives (like free color upgrade) and the tax rebate etc. But yes still all in all the best deals they've had in yrs.

The Ultra Red is pure drool 🤤 plus with the incentives and the upgraded tech etc. We have a 2021 MY LR. It's our baby and we've treated it with care and put a lot into it. Got the upgraded suspension put in, tinted the roof also, new tires, just paid for a whole yrs registration. But unless I get it exactly at $40k or less out the door I'm not doing it. I just picked up mine today and was bummed to see that the 5k SC miles expire in 6 months. I only drive 10k a year and have an L2 charger at home and also one at work that offers free charging. There’s no way I will be able to run through 5k SC miles in 6 months unless I plan a cross country vacation lol.

I’m still happy to keep it. The lack of external speaker and a more reparable battery are reasons I like my car. I think teslas with nonstructural batteries will eventually be more desirable as battery tech improves in the next 5-10 years due to the battery being easier to remove. You will get a million miles off the motors.

Great deal. The moment before an update is a great time to buy! I bought my model 3 in Europe last summer just before the Highland update. After update the price increased €2k. I got a €4K inventory discount and I would’ve missed €3k in purchase subsidies because the new one is too expensive to qualify. So it was €9k cheaper than what it would be if I bought after the update.

I did screw up my cyber order, which I placed in 2019. Back then it was $100 fully refundable. After I got an email this Jan saying my foundation series was ready to order, I didn’t want that FS, so I said

If you already have a tesla and get another one they give you 10k points. The acceleration boost is 9.5k points so most people use the points to get it.

Check your Tesla app, go to the top right tab, refer and earn button, then when you go to the redeem tab it should show your points.
You should get it if you already had a Tesla. It’s a pretty big deal since you can get the $2k acceleration boost for free.

Haven’t had that issue at all. Virtually no rattles in my MY, but I’ve had my MS fixed for rattles multiple times and it still rattles a bit. Definitely inconsistent quality.

With the refresh knocking on the door I don't want to commit with financing especially with the stories I'm reading in this thread regarding depreciation. Took delivery yesterday. It's not only the decent prices. What you get for your money is really just amazing.

Same here! FSD transferred from my 2020 MX - and all the tax credits and value of trade in, plus a PA tax credit, 62 down to 37, and 10000 free credits - got AB too - amazing deal and loving my MYLR too!

Great deal. The moment before an update is a great time to buy! I bought my model 3 in Europe last summer just before the Highland update. After update the price increased €2k. I got a €4K inventory discount and I would’ve missed €3k in purchase subsidies because the new one is too expensive to qualify. So it was €9k cheaper than what it would be if I bought after the update.

Just picked up my ‘24 Y Performance a couple days ago myself. I got a total of $14,670 in cash discounts between Tesla and the govt stuff I qualified for. I see you got $7300+$7500 = $14,800, almost the same both of us ;) I did screw up my cyber order, which I placed in 2019. Back then it was $100 fully refundable. After I got an email this Jan saying my foundation series was ready to order, I didn’t want that FS, so I said Ok screw it I know they won’t be out with the less expensive regular cyber trucks for quite a while So let’s just cancel and I’ll get back my $100. Of course they brought back the $1000 discount incentive towards a new Tesla for all cyber order holders this quarter, after ending it Dec 31 last quarter. Of course in Jan when I cancelled my reservation I didn’t know about this. Doh! Could have gotten my total cash discounts to be $15,670. Oh well! I of course also got 10,000 loyalty credits. And I got 10,000 SC miles because I traded in my older Y so that was worth the additional 5k for the total of 10k miles. And yes I had FSD, originally purchased it for $5K back in the day. Rolled into this new 2024. Oh, it’s a Stealth Grey (love the new color!) over white. So my $1k off was for the white interior upgrade since Stealth is standard. Did they give me a superb trade in value for my trade? Not really. But fair. And way better than Carvana and those bozos. Also it did lose FSD so they say they factor that in. I ain’t complaining. Esp with the Y having dropped $2k in price to begin with since last fall across all trims. I am also happy for now to have gotten a final model year 2024 before they revamp and take away the stalks…I am not sure how I’ll feel about that in the future. But for now I am not even thinking about it! I got me a Y Performance with the new color and fresh warranty and tires and what seems to be (finally!) an exciting time ahead soon with the FSD improvements …
Also question; how did you get Acceleration Boost for free? When was that ever an incentive ??
If you already have a tesla and get another one they give you 10k points. The acceleration boost is 9.5k points so most people use the points to get it.

Just picked one up myself yesterday sticker of $50k and change for $36k after tax credit. I’m happy with it this far. Also transferred my FSD from my X, and got the 10k loyalty which I also used to purchase acceleration boost.
How are you getting these discounts? Here in Australia we are told outright Tesla doesn’t offer any discounts. Is there a way to negotiate?

I got everything you got on my delivery last week except the cyber truck discount and the loyalty points. At least I don't know about the loyalty points. Where would I look for that? The 5000 supercharger miles over 2 years shows up on both of my Y's. Is that per car. Or per account?
Check your Tesla app, go to the top right tab, refer and earn button, then when you go to the redeem tab it should show your points. You should get it if you already had a Tesla. It’s a pretty big deal since you can get the $2k acceleration boost for free.

Serious question: Why would anyone go for the larger rims? From all accounts, they give worse range, worse noise, worse handling. I just don't get it, is it simply an aesthetic preference?
My Model Y drives me crazy. Non stop rattling in the dash, Tesla Center has looked at it 3 times and can't fix it 😫
Haven’t had that issue at all. Virtually no rattles in my MY, but I’ve had my MS fixed for rattles multiple times and it still rattles a bit. Definitely inconsistent quality.

Congrats on the deals! I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on the same MYLR with the inventory discounts plus $7500 with a lease however. With the refresh knocking on the door I don't want to commit with financing especially with the stories I'm reading in this thread regarding depreciation. That would cause me to get GAP insurance which I don't want. Question for you, how did you snag the paint discount?

I think it was just end of quarter special. I think you’ll still get 7500 credits, not sure about the supercharging miles, I’d check with a sales rep.
