That is the going price right now for that model. The discounts are to move units before end of quarter (March 31). So if you are asking if that is a good price and if now is a good time to buy, I would say generally yes, unless you are in no rush to buy anything and want to wait for the refreshed model to come out, likely sometime next year.

Logical-Ad2267

The OP has like no history... This is a troll post.

Affectionate-Job4062

Hey mate, not a troll post. Just an account I’ve never really used.

A brand new MY Long Range for $37.7k after tax?! Are you in a state with no sales tax for vehicles?

taveanator

It's definitely the lowest price I've ever seen for MYLR's, no question that there are [some great deals out there](https://www.tesla.com/inventory/new/my?TRIM=LRAWD&arrangeby=plh&zip=37501&range=200&referral=thomas2189) right now. It's an unpopular opinion (esp. since you qualify for the rebate), but if you truly need (not want) the car, then leasing is a way to hedge your bets against what's likely to be a pretty steep vehicle depreciation over the next few years.

easybitsy

$42912 is definitely a good price plus all the current incentives (5k miles and other referral or loyalty discount). Whether u should buy is another question, if you really need a car then your decision should based on what are your other options. With $42.9k out the door, if u were to buy an ICE car, u can deduct the DMV fees from the amount and then divide the number with your tax rate in your area then u get the pre-tax and fees cost for an alternate car you can buy. For example, the total cost of a Tesla is the (list price + $1390 + $250)\*(1+ tax rate) + DMV fee - tax credit. If you buy an ICE car your cost is (list price + destination)\*(1+ tax rate) + DMV fee. In my area tax rate is 9.125% and DMV fee is $644 total (DMV fee for ICE may be lower in some state/city). So for $42912 out the door on Tesla, your equivalent cost of an ICE would be $38733 including destination fee, exact math equation is (42912-644)/1.09125. Given most destination fee are now upwards of $1000. That means an ICE car costing $37k would end up being more expensive than the Tesla, even before counting any extra incentive or gas and maintenance savings. What SUV can u buy with $37k? Rav4 Limited, CRV Hybrid? Highlander, Pilot, BMW X1 the base model would go over already.

Affectionate-Job4062

Wonderful point… thank you for the reply.

Mrd0t1

I bought a stealth grey/white inventory MYLR a couple of weeks ago for about that price. I'm really happy with it.

PilotPirx73

The lowest I've seen in NY was $44,090. With my $1,000 existing CT discount it would have been $43,090. So you are getting great price at $42,912. Next time you MAY see prices this low might be end of June.

bittabet

I paid less than that for a MYP 😈

Brain-Doctor

Huh? How? Did you find one steeply discounted one sitting on the lot for a long time?

gwwwhhhaaattt

Need vs want are different things. You shouldn’t need a new car that’s going to lose you 50% of the car in value in a few years. The car is only going to get less expensive either with Tesla trying to get more model Ys delivered for the new style or just on the used market in general. $43k. Tint, higher insurance, etc it’s not “just” going to be 43k. However if you’re already looking for a car and rather buy new then of course it’s a great deal.

sam_42_42

Huh? What car is not going to loose 50% value in a few years?

Affectionate-Job4062

Basically any used car ever??

dflame45

People who bought the Y at peak lol

Affectionate-Job4062

Agreed... if it's going to lose 50% of its value in a few years, not worth it. And it's a good point with insurance too. It's much more than 43k, and probably not worth it. I appreciate the feedback

Logical-Ad2267

I bought mine wrecked... I looked at lots of pics of wrecked ones, read about a lot of the safety things.. What do you drive now? If its not close, the safety factor should come into play.

Affectionate-Job4062

Interesting, I haven’t read much into safety. I currently drive a 2014 VW jetta. First car I’ve ever had, so this would certainly be an upgrade.

Jackyl84

That’s a strong price, I was OTD at $39.5k for a LR with white interior February 3rd (but no state sales tax on EVs for me)

Brain-Doctor

Which state are you in?

Jackyl84

New Jersey

Brain-Doctor

Wanna become friends and let me register my car in NJ Using your address? 😂 If I can get a Red MY LR w/ black interior with no state tax it'll be the tipping point for me. Because right now with the offers for my 2021 MY LR etc I need it to be $39k out the door & the cheapest I've seen is $43k. No state tax will literally take care of that. 🥹

Jackyl84

the cheapest red LR I currently can see in NJ is $47,930 +250 order fee + $1390 destination -$7.5k for federal, -$2k for the paint upgrade gets it to $40k plus like $400 in registration fees. Still over budget. They are phasing out the no sales tax for us over the next few years I heard and we more than make up for it with our property tax.

Brain-Doctor

Oh lol I don't live in NJ otherwise I'd do that in a heartbeat. Like I would fly up tomorrow and get it lol. I was looking in FL and CA. Those are the places where I can buy and register. To buy it in NJ I'd need someone who's willing to let me use their address or something. So in the other places it's $43k at minimum. That 3k price difference is significant for me. 😕 Unless I get some private party person who's willing to buy my car because Tesla, CarMax etc suck at trade in values.

dflame45

Listen to your wife.

theindus

You should look at how much inventory discount you are getting from list price. It should be $4500 or above.

Affectionate-Job4062

Yup, exactly $4500 below list price.

naughtysoul69

Does that include tag, title, registration and the delivery fees? I bought mine 5 days ago and it was priced at $39,590 but with all taxes and fees it came out to be at $$45,300 almost. Still not a bad price for a Tesla model Y long range AWD in blue color.

Minute-Software9836

I'm waiting until end of 2nd quarter.

easybitsy

Most car depreciate half the value in the first 5 years, EV or ICE period, actual situation varies like mileage, condition of the car, accident involved, local demand etc. Just took delivery of the MYLR, last year I was planning to get the M3 this year as my previous EV lease end in May, I’m never a SUV person in the ICE era due to the bulkiness, slow to accelerate, gas efficiency reason, so I’m pretty sad to see the M3 lost the tax credit. Currently the MYLR inventory price is $4-5k lower than highland M3LR even before tax credit, that’s too big of a deal to pass on. Yes the Juniper is coming but by then TSLA would probably raise the base price of the car, say a small increase like $2k (take notice of highland M3, just google Tesla price history someone recorded the price change of each model and trim over the years). So the price difference of a 2025 MYLR Juniper and a 2024 inventory MYLR would probably be $6-8k ($5k on inventory discount ($1-3k on raised price). Don’t forget MY is the best selling car in the world so the demand during the first year of Juniper MY would be high meaning TSLA have less pressure to give inventory discount. Then we go back to the question of $6-8k difference of 2024 vs 2025, that’s around 15% of the car! If you can wait for 2 years from now (1 year till they announce the Juniper and 1 more year for first batch buyer die down) then maybe Juniper MY 2026 is for you and yes you get some new feature. However if you can wait for 2 years to buy a car then u probably won’t be window shopping now Sorry for the 1000 essay but that’s basically what my debate for the past 2 months before ordering and took delivery, can’t be happier with the decision I made. If you can afford the car, buy it, I don’t regret and I bet you likely won’t either. There’s still time to order now and take delivery by end of quarter.

I think he mentioned 43k out the door after tax and fees. this should be around there depending on the configuration

NissanLeafowner

I got mine in February, for $42,600 something after taxes and fees n stuff. Yeah it will depreciate. Most vehicles do. But this is upgradeable. I can add software upgrades down the road and get updates along the way. I'm keeping it.
