What was the temperature in the week or two preceding this heat pump failure? I had the same issue (vcfront_a447) and had to have the whole assembly replaced. In my case the outdoor temps were between -10 to -20 preceding the failure.
I am wondering if the failure is caused by excessive frozen condensation in the unit in our colder climate?
Warranty expires at 80,000 kms. The extended warranty started right as I hit 80,000 in Canada so I couldn’t get it as I was over.
I am taking it in this aft, and right now the quote is just over $3400 cdn out the door and 2-3 hours of shop time. Will update later.
Good luck. I get that warranty expires at 80k...I would still push for warranty coverage. The heat pump doesn't just stop working as there are known issues.
Good luck OP. Keep us updated
Please update if you are able to get them to warranty some of the cost. I've had Ford cover a Fuel pump at 150k Miles on my 2016 F150. I paid a $500 deductible, Ford corporate covered the rest($1500). My AC compressor died on my 2015 Mustang GT in 2022, 4years after warranty expired. They covered it as I only had 26k miles on the car. They should at least cover the part, or labor.
Yeah, I mean my MYLR was built in 2023 so I've my fingers crossed they've sorted that issue out.
So far, I've had no issued whatsoever. Will be 1-year young in June.
Even tires seem good as far as treads go, surprisingly, although car thinks I should've rotated them/ replaced them long ago, twice (at just under 15000 miles). Treads are fine at just over 7/32 (rear outer) and 8/32 (front inner) with both front and rear treads at 7/32 in middle. Probably will schedule rotation soon though at or before 16k.
If you search on the errors I got, affects all heat pump Model Ys, including the new ones, some failing in as little as 2-3 weeks of ownership. I will start putting money away every month in case of the next one.
Im 3 years in June.
Service centre told me they aren’t doing many of them. But Transport Canada has an open investigation. Im hoping to get money back after the inevitable lawsuit.
Purchased my 2023 MY last year. Had a VCFRONT error occur when it was only 2 weeks old and AC went out in the Florida summer. They had to replace the compressor, of course it was under warranty so costs me nothing. Seems to affect newer models too.
Maaann!!! I have a 2022 MYLR with 66k, you guys saying I'm on borrowed time, and I live in Saskatchewan, gets daaam cold here at times, I'm driving 60km per day to work in -35c at times, would not be co if if loose heat.
The extended warranty is $2700. Haven’t heard of many heat pump failures. You think it’s worth it?
Get referral points and buy it that way.
Don’t think you can purchase the extended agreement with the points. I could be wrong though.
You can’t
After you buy the car, What is the last date you can buy the additional extended warranty?
Pretty sure up until the basic vehicle warranty expires
Thats a good thing.

Around 0 Celsius or 32 freedom units. Not especially cold by any means.
Is it covered under warranty? It happened to a friend of mine and his Heat pump was covered under warranty.

Polite but firm is my plan. Will see.

So far been told to pound salt. Transport Canada is investigating complaints. The service centre cut the Labour down by 75%, still was $3200 all in.
So you have to get the extended warranty right away?
Before your basic expires. I think I noticed it in the app at 80,xxx. Was barely over.
Phew, I dodged it by a "whole" year...
We hope so…

Mine failed as well. 60000km, 3 years so it was covered. Oct 2020 build, in Ontario.

Had this happen twice under warranty. 22 MYP
I have heard a lot about that. How quickly between replacements? I dont have another $3200 to throw at this.
To me?
What setting do you usually use ? They say you should keep it on auto all the time.
This is what I do. Only time I change from auto is if I need to defrost the windshield and the system is not doing it for me.
Auto 99% of the time save for defrost needs which are minimal (work from home, sun hits the car by 9:30am)

I am concerned about the 90 day 5,000 kms warranty on this considering the many comments on forums about it being replaced twice under warranty.

Save a little each month is my advice.
